<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Method of forming a composite profile and profiles thus formed"
This invention relates to a composite profile.
The object of the invention is to develop a method which allows the development of profiles of the intended type, which are characterized by material savings that have never been achieved until now and, despite their lighter weight, nevertheless exhibit a sufficient moment of inertia.
In order to make this possible in accordance with the invention, between the said suspension profile and the said wings, the body of the composite profile is formed from strips which, with respect to said wings, extend at an angle between approximately 450 and 900 and connect the suspension profile to said wings.
According to a possible embodiment, strips of metal in the form of tongues are cut out of a metal strip to form the wings, in such a way that they remain connected to their base with the metal strip and the intended tongues are pressed to form the body of the profile at an angle. located between about 450 and 900 upwards from the metal strip and the ends of said strips are connected with the above-mentioned hollow suspension profile.
The invention also relates to the profiles formed according to the method according to the invention.

Other details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a method of forming a composite profile and profiles thus formed according to the invention.
This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention. The reference numbers refer to the attached figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective representation of the profile according to the invention according to a first embodiment.
Figure 2 shows a detail with respect to the first embodiment.
Figure 3 is a perspective representation of a profile belonging to a second embodiment.
Figure 4 is a perspective representation of a profile belonging to a last embodiment.
The composite profiles proposed by the different figures share an important characteristic. They were created by a suspension profile 1 with a metal strip 2 by strips 3. 4 or 5 (depending on the embodiment to be described below). In each of the embodiments described below, the metal strip 2 has wings 6 to support ceiling plates or the like.
The aim is, as already explained, to achieve a significant weight saving of the profiles without affecting their moment of inertia.
The embodiments explained with reference to Figures 1, 2 and 3 are closely related.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The composite profiles according to Figures 1 to 3 were created by cutting strips 3 (Figures 1 and 2) or 4 (Figure 3) from the metal strip 2, so that said strips have the shape of tongues with their base on the metal strip 2 remain attached while they are joined to the hollow suspension profile 1 by their free ends, using one of the many suitable techniques.
The shape which the strips can have can be derived from figures 1 and 2. The strips 3 can display a widened, rectangular head 3 'whose dimensions are adapted to the internal space of the suspension profile 1, viewed in cross-section.
The angle at which the strips 3 extend, in the end position, relative to the metal strip 2 is of course arbitrary, although an angle
EMI3.1
of nearly 45 is preferred. A finishing strip 7 (figure 1) is applied over the metal strip 2. This finishing strip can consist of metal or a synthetic material and the manner in which such a finishing strip is applied is not actually within the invention.
By using a similar technique, the profile as shown in figure 3 is produced. Strips 4 are cut out of a metal strip 2 and erected vertically, this is perpendicular to the plane in which the metal strip 2 extends.
In order to prevent buckling of the strips 4, they have, according to a cross section, a gutter-shaped profile with a wide base. This can be very clearly noted from figure 3 where two consecutive strips 4 with the z. G. gutter-shaped sides are facing each other. The buds 4 of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
different strips 4 are pressed through slots provided in the wall of the hollow suspension profile 1 and bent into this hollow suspension profile in such a way that a firm connection is created between the strips 4 and the hollow suspension profile 1.
Here, too, a composite profile is created with an extremely reduced weight and an always sufficient moment of inertia.
The embodiment illustrated by Figure 4 is obtained by connecting a wavy connecting part on the one hand to the metal strip 2 and, on the other hand, to the hollow suspension profile 1. The connection is created by using a wavy connecting part consisting of either a band or a wire.
In the example represented by figure 4 use is made of a continuous wavy metal strip which gives rise to a series of strips 5 which, on the one hand, are connected with the metal strip 2 and, on the other hand, with the hollow suspension profile 1, using known techniques. connected. Here too, a finishing strip 7 can be applied along the wings 6 of the metal strip 2.
The connection to the hollow suspension profile 1 and the metal strip 2 of a connecting part in the form of a corrugated metal wire is easily feasible and creates a profile with an extremely lightweight and a sufficient moment of inertia.
The invention is of course not limited to the above-described embodiments and modifications could be made thereto, insofar as they fall within the scope of the appended claims.
