DESCRIPTION
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

* la figure 1 : un schéma de la partie échange de cannelles d'un continu à filer ;
EMI4.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

DESCRIPTION
Method and device for joining two threads in a continuous spinning machine
The present invention relates to the field of spinning machines, generally called spinning machines.
These machines are fed by rollers (called cinnamons) comprising carded-type yarns, that is to say imperfectly parallelized rubbed fibers (generally designated by stranded yarns), which are subjected to a drawing and drawing process. twisting to form wires.
When a cinnamon is empty, replace it with a full cinnamon and attach the end of the empty cinnamon roll to the full cinnamon roll.
The present invention provides a method and a device for attaching the stranded wires when replacing the cinnamons.
The replacement of an empty cinnamon by a full cinnamon is done automatically while the machine stops. It is then advisable to fix the two ends of wire and to connect them.
Different systems have been proposed to connect, at each spinning position, the new wire to the old one.
In European patent application 0274676, the reattachment system is produced by means of compressed air injected into a fairly large chamber, consisting of a fixed half-chamber and an oscillating half-chamber, and in which are the two sons.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In European patent application 0303577, the reattachment system is produced by means of friction between two parts, one of which is oscillating in a plane and the other sliding in a perpendicular direction.
These systems have the disadvantage that the connection made is not very solid in the sense that the two wires are simply brought into contact with one another. When restarting, the old thread should lead to the new thread, which will only happen with certainty if we are dealing with hanging fibers.
The present invention provides a method and device which avoids these drawbacks and provides a more solid connection giving less breakage on restarting.
The method according to the invention consists in making a connection according to which the wires are attached by subjecting them together to a jet of compressed air rotating and penetrating into the wires. Thus, the fibers of one of the threads are entangled with the fibers of the other thread and, at the same time as the interference between the fibers of the two threads occurs, the assembly obtained is twisted by the vortex of compressed air. . This results in a more solid connection since there is interpenetration of the two wires to be connected, and no longer just contact as in the known methods.
It should be noted that a fastener of this type has already been used in winding machines, but in this case the fastening is carried out on two wires which have already received a twist, and which therefore already have their final resistance. By the jet of compressed air, we must try to restore the same cohesion between fibers as in the rest of the wire.
The connection according to the invention must be carried out between two carded type threads coming from the card, which have not yet received a twist, but have only received a certain amount of friction in order to obtain consolidation with a view to winding at the out of the card.
The technique is different and it is not possible to use the devices used in the winding machines, for the method according to the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The piecing is carried out in a simple device comprising a cylindrical passage of appropriate dimensions and an inlet in this passage for the injection of compressed air.
Advantageously, the device comprises a groove along the cylindrical passage to allow the introduction of the stranded wires and a flared entry facilitating this introduction.
The cross section of the cylindrical passage will preferably be circular and the inlet or inlets of the compressed air will be placed so that the compressed air creates a rotary movement in the passage. This movement causes the fibers of the two strands to interpenetrate. The dimensions of the passage must be adapted to the thickness of the stranded wires. If the cross section of the passage becomes too large, the interpenetration of the fibers will become less effective, for this reason a diameter for the cross section of the passage which advantageously does not exceed about ten times the diameter of the strand wires is advantageously chosen. When the cross section of the passage is too small, the rotary movement of the compressed air is less pronounced and the effect less good.
It will therefore be preferable to choose as a diameter for the section of the passage from one and a half to ten times the diameter of the strand wires to be treated, and, advantageously, from one and a half to six times this diameter.
The arrival of the compressed air will advantageously be carried out of phase with respect to the axis of the passage, so as to create a sufficient rotary movement of the compressed air.
The pressure of the compressed air as well as the duration of the compressed air pulse will advantageously be adjustable. Conventional means such as pressure regulator and time relay can be used.
During their connection, the stranded wires will be fixed by conventional means and maintained in the device during the injection of the compressed air.
The invention will be described below in more detail using an example of implementation and illustrated by the drawings which represent:

* Figure 1: a diagram of the cinnamon exchange part of a spinning continuous;
EMI4.1
* Figure 2: a diagram of a connecting device; * Figures 3 and 4: diagrams of pliers which fix the strand wires; * Figures 5,6 and 7: three positions of the wires to be attached just before the attaches.
FIG. 1 shows a cinnamon 1 in progress on the drum 12, the wire 3 being pulled by the food cylinder 14.
Between the drum 12 and the cylinder 14, the wire 3 passes freely through a clamp 9 and into a connecting device 13.
During the course of the cinnamon 1, a new cinnamon 2 is brought by an overhead rail (not shown) above the cinnamon in progress, to be prepared for the replacement thereof. The operator manually takes the strand 4 and places the end in a clamp 5 secured to an oscillating arm 6 for preparation and tears off the piece which protrudes from the clamp 5.
When the cinnamon 1 in progress is almost finished, the machine stops and the wire in progress 3 is pinched in the clamp 9 which closes. The clamp 9 is integral with the frame of the machine. The drive drum 12 of the cinnamon 1 then turns slightly in the opposite direction of the unwinding, which causes traction on the wire 3 until this wire breaks between the clamp 9 and the drum 12.
The cinnamon 1 is then ejected and replaced automatically by the new cinnamon 2 by mechanical and electrical means not shown. The preparation arm 6 then rotates around its axis and places the new wire 4 in the connecting device 13 and in the clamp 9 secured to the frame, which then opens and closes for this purpose.
At this time, the old flange wire 3 is pinched upstream of the reattachment device 13 by the clamp 9 and downstream by the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
food cylinders 14 of the machine. The new strand wire 4 is clamped upstream of the reattachment device 13 by the clamp 9 and downstream by the clamp 5 secured to the preparation arm.
The two wires (3 and 4) being held on both sides of the connecting device 13, compressed air can be sent (via the pipe 7) into the device on the two wires, which causes their fibers to become entangled and some twist there.
The clamps 5 and 9 then open, which frees the two ends of attached son. The machine can then restart.
The reference numeral 8 represents the support of the lever arm 10 of the new cinnamon 2 and the articulation 11 of the preparation arm 6. This articulation 11 allows the oscillation of the arm 6 so as to be able to bring the clamp 5 to the level of the device connecting 13 as indicated by the arrow 18.
FIG. 2 shows the reattachment device 13 produced in one piece and comprising: * a cylindrical hole 16 for the passage of the wire in normal operation and for the positioning of the two ends of the wires to be reattached during the change of cinnamon.
* a groove 19 to allow the introduction of the wire or wires; this groove is intentionally narrow to prevent the untimely exit of the wire or wires.
a flared entry 20 to facilitate the introduction of the wires despite the narrowness of the groove 19.
* two inlets 21 for injecting compressed air into the hole 16, from an external source not shown.
The diameter of the hole 16 is just sufficient to allow the wire to pass in normal operation. In this way it is possible, during the injection of the compressed air, to cause an interpenetration of the fibers of the two threads and not only a twisting of these threads, which gives the fastener greater resistance.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
As shown in Figure 2, the arrivals 21 are slightly offset from the axis of the hole 16, which allows to create a rotary movement of the compressed air.
Figures 3a and 3b show the clamp 5 secured to the preparation arm 6 in a closed position (3a) and an open position (3b). It consists of a finger 28 oscillating around an axis 22 and retained by a spring 23. This finger can be placed in two stable positions, in abutment with a block 27. The position according to FIG. 3a (closed position) is that in which the wire is pinched between the finger 28 and the block 27. The position according to FIG. 3b (open position) is that where the wire is released.
Figure 4 shows the three positions of the clamp 9 secured to the frame. It consists of a fixed finger 30 and a sliding finger 31. The sliding finger 31 is integral with a bar 26 by means of a spring 25 so as to be able to approach and rest on the fixed finger 30 with a certain pressure. The bringing together of the fixed and sliding fingers is obtained by the longitudinal displacement of the bar 26 produced by conventional mechanical means such as a jack.
Figure 4 shows the respective positions of the two fingers under the following three conditions: (from left to right) pliers fully open allowing the entry of the thread of a new cinnamon, pliers moderately open for normal spinning work, pliers closed for ties it up. The fixed finger 30 has an oscillating strip 24. This can oscillate down around the axis 32 and thus makes it possible to free the passage for the introduction of the wire. It also includes a stop 33 which prevents the oscillation of the strip upwards and therefore the untimely exit of the wire from the clamp.
FIG. 5 shows the wire 3 after its cut caused by the ejection of the empty cinnamon. It can be seen that the wire is pinched on either side of the connecting device 13, upstream by the clamp secured to the frame 9 and downstream by the food cylinders 14.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
FIG. 6 shows the oscillating arm 6 during its rotational movement to bring the wire 4 into contact with the wire 3.
FIG. 7 shows the situation after the complete swinging down of the swinging arm 6. The clamp 5 of the swinging arm 6 constituted by the finger 28 and the block 27 is placed downstream of the connecting device 13 and the wire 4 is introduced in the clamp 9 secured to the frame. The wire 4 is therefore pinched on either side of the connecting device 13, upstream by the clamp 9 and downstream by the clamp 5.
The wires 3 and 4 are in contact with each other and pinched upstream and downstream of the connecting device. The compressed air is then sent using a solenoid valve, not shown, to the reattachment device 13 and the wires 3 and 4 are attached together.
The pressure of the compressed air is adjustable by a pressure regulator and the duration of the compressed air pulse is adjustable by a time relay acting on the solenoid valve.
It is clear that the invention is not limited by the example of implementation described; the connecting device shows an execution with two compressed air inlets, it is obvious that the same result can be obtained with a single inlet. The dimensioning of the groove 19 and of the hole or passage 16, as well as the shape of the flared entry, are the responsibility of a person skilled in the art who will adapt the part 13 according to the continuous spinning and the flange threads which it use.
The clamps 5 and 9 constitute examples of practical application, it is obvious that any other means of fixing for wires during the attachment phase can be used.
