"Rotatieve, volumetrische compressor/motor, met centraal geleide schoepen"
EMI1.1
----------------------------
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
verwachten.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
(Fig. 2).
(Fig.
2).
Indien echter de rotorwand met geringe speling
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
t. o. v. de as (3).

"Rotary, volumetric compressor / motor, with centrally guided blades"
EMI1.1
----------------------------
The present invention relates to a rotary compressor with gradual volumetric compression, characterized by a special guiding of radial blades.
Gas compressors exist in different versions, including the kinetic or turbo machines, in addition to the machines with volumetric effect. The kinetic machines have to operate at relatively high speeds in order to achieve a considerable pressure build-up, while in principle the volumetric machines can also perform at relatively lower speeds. Within the latter group, in addition to the piston machines (with typical pulsating effect), various types of purely rotating machines have been developed.
There is the so-called roots compressor with two synchronous running, almost touching rotors in a precisely fitting stator. This simple machine realizes the compression, not through gradual volume reduction, but through backflow of compressed gas.
This causes a typical efficiency loss, which is considered acceptable only at modest pressure ratios.
Gradual compression is realized in the so-called screw compressor. This machine can also handle higher pressure ratios, but requires very precise construction on sophisticated machines.
Gradual volumetric compression is also realized in the so-called cell densifier or "palette compressor". However, the eccentrically positioned rotor with radially sliding blades creates relatively much friction and wear. This is precisely what the present invention aims to meet, in particular by a special guiding of the blades that allows less friction and wear
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
expect.
The rotary volumetric compressor according to the invention, which is formed from a rotor and two or more blades in a cylindrical stator, is characterized in that the blades are positioned radially by a concentric shaft arranged in the stator, with concentric bearings, while the rotor is mounted eccentrically in the stator, the blades rotate. This has, inter alia, the advantage that the rotor function is limited to the tangential driving of the blades, which defile along the enveloping stator wall with very little play and friction.
Further features and advantages of the rotary volumetric compressor according to the invention will become apparent from the following exemplary embodiment, with accompanying figures as an illustration.
Figure 1 shows the essential parts for a volumetric compressor according to the invention, split in Figure 1a - a cross section, and Figure 1b - a front section.
Figures 2 and 3 schematically show the position of the blades in a snapshot of a compressor.
Figure 4 is a detail view of a blade at a circumferential opening in the stator wall.
A rotary volumetric compressor according to the invention, as shown in figures 1a and 1b, comprises a stator formed by a pure cylindrical jacket (1) with radius R and length L, closed by two flat flanges (2) and (2 '), at right angles on the geometric axis of the jacket (1).
This encloses a cylindrical volume with a diameter of 2R and a length L. Concentrically with the casing (1), an axis (3) is clamped or mounted in one of the stator flanges, eg (2). This shaft (3) now carries a number of radial blades (5), each of which is freely rotatable
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the said shaft (3) is secured, e.g. via two slide bearings (6). The blades (5) are thus arranged completely concentrically rotatable in the stator, and can move therewith with little play and thus little friction.
The rotor is in fact a hollow hub (7) with radius (RR) mounted eccentrically in the stator flange (2 '), with an eccentricity (e). the rotating rotor (7) carries the blades (5) via an appropriate number of slots. If the eccentricity (e) were zero, the blades (5) would simply run synchronously with the rotor (7). With an appropriately chosen eccentricity (e = 0), each blade is apparently accelerated alternately and then decelerated again during a full revolution. At the same time, the rotor circumference will shift radially along the entrained vanes, which themselves a. H. w. tilt back and forth in the slot of the rotor.
These two relative movements can be made possible without much leakage losses by providing each slot with two segment-shaped strips (9) which can slide on the one hand. o. v. a blade (5), on the other hand, can tilt in appropriate slides (10) in each slot of the rotor (7). It is now important that the volumes bounded by neighboring vanes (5), a piece of stator wall (1) and a piece of rotor wall (7) increase and decrease with each revolution, such as the cylinder volume in a piston machine.
It will therefore suffice to provide suction openings (11) in the stator wall where the said volumes increase, and press openings (12) where the said volumes have decreased sufficiently, and the pressure immediately increased. (Fig. 2).
If there is no contact between the rotor circumference and the stator cylinder wall (1), a large number of blades will be required to realize a large pressure ratio. (Fig.
2).
However, if the rotor wall with little play
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
(s) defile along the stator wall (Fig. 3), for example, two vanes would suffice with a non-return valve in the discharge line (12). In addition, the blade thickness (t) must be greater than the circumferential opening (a) of the outlet (12) (fig.
4). In this case, variable volumes are periodically determined by rotor and stator walls, by one (or two neighboring) blades and the quasi-contact rotor-stator.
This assumes that (R- (RR + e) = s) little clearance. In this case, in principle, very high pressure ratios can be expected, since the minimum volume goes to zero when a blade tip approaches the rotor-stator contact line.
To further reduce leakage losses through the clearance between the stator wall and the rotor circumference, the stator wall is fitted with radially sliding sealing strips that are pressed against the rotor circumference by gas pressure or a suitable spring.
The functional operation of the rotary compressor proposed here is comparable to that of the already known cell compactors. However, there is a clear constructional difference due to the blades mounted concentrically in the stator.
The rotor with blades in an eccentric stator is replaced by an eccentric rotor in a stator with blades. As a result, the friction is limited, so that better efficiency and a longer life can be expected.
Depending on the desired pressure ratio, the number of blades, the radii R and RR, the eccentricity e, and the ratio (L / R) will of course be optimized.
At the same time, various mechanical options can be integrated into the design.
For example, the shaft (3) can be rotatably mounted in the flange (2) so that the slide bearings of the blades (5) only rotate back and forth over a limited amplitude
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
t. o. the shaft (3). It is also possible to bear the rotor (7), for example, not only in the flange (2 '), but also in the opposite flange (2). It should be noted that this must have a lower radius (2) than a large radius (RL) (RL> e).
Finally, the rotor (7) can be partially embedded in the flange (2 '), which leads to a simpler blade shape. It is clear that this text-with-figures does not exhaustively describe all possible practical achievements, only the concept principles have been explained and illustrated with some examples.
The advantages that can be expected from the concept proposed here are: good efficiency and long service life with a relatively cheap construction.
It is clear that the concept of the invention can be applied mutatis mutandis of a rotary volumetric compressor to a pneumatic motor, provided that the flow, torque and sense of rotation can be changed.
