<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
Les caractéristiques et avantages de l'invention apparaîtront clairement au cours de la description qui va suivre donnée uniquement à titre d'exemple non limitatif, faite en référence aux dessins annexés dans lesquels : - la Fig. 1 est une vue d'un exemple de réalisation du dispositif selon l'invention ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Sealing device for fixed member.
The present invention relates to a sealing device for a fixed member, mounted in a housing and pierced with an orifice serving as a seat for a movable member, and its application to a non-return valve.
The present invention relates more particularly to a sealing device for a fixed member mounted in a housing, pierced with an orifice serving as a seat for a movable member and comprising an annular sealing gasket fixed to the fixed member.
Such sealing devices are known, but these known segments have drawbacks.
Documents US-A-2 216 622, US-A-2 503 424, FR-A-2 234 500 and FR-A-2 367 236 each describe at least one non-return valve which can serve as a sealing device. The valves described in these documents consist of several parts, a shutter held or moved by the pressure of a spring closing the opening of a hollow cylinder fixed by a thread to a cylindrical bore.
The valves produced according to one of documents US-A-2 216 622, US-A-2 503 424, FR-A-2 234 500 and FR-A-2 367 236 do not allow the use as sealings because it is impossible to obtain a good seal by combining a screw and an O-ring.
Consequently, it is necessary to provide for the manufacture of a special seal adapted to the particular configuration of these valves.
In addition, the assembly of the various parts is difficult, the screwing imposing a problem of twisting.
To remedy this problem, lights have been drilled through the wall of the cylinder, but this further complicates manufacture by significant additional operations compared to the size of one of these valves or its cost.

Document JP-A-59 37 375 describes a device comprising a fixed member, making it possible to reduce the flow rate of a liquid by the movement of a mobile member.
The fixed member is held by snap-fastening, which implies a molding with force undercut.
This method of attachment does not allow perfect fitting and therefore does not provide a seal.
In addition, it is not possible to use a seal to try to obtain a seal despite the nesting faults.
Indeed, the snap clamps the two parts against each other, the seal placed between the two parts is found too compressed or does not hold.
It would be possible to imagine as a means of assembling glue instead of snap-fastening or screwing, but this is not yet a solution making it possible to ensure a seal for the following reasons:
The glue has the defect of exhibiting poor vapor resistance and entails the risk of spreading elsewhere than in the places provided, which causes a lot of drawbacks.
Document FR-A-2 425 591 describes a valve made up of a body abutting on a blocking member held by a projecting rim.
This device, like the devices described in the documents cited above, does not allow internal and external sealing to be obtained.
None of these documents provides for the use of an internal lining and an external lining. The internal lining making it possible to seal between the fixed member and the movable member, the external lining making it possible to seal between the fixed member and its housing. It should be noted that all of these valves prior to the invention comprise a fixed member linked to another fixed part and a linked mobile member,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
but free in translation or in rotation to the fixed member and that the seal for at least one of these two connections, by valve, is not ensured. It follows that for any of these valves, the seal is not ensured between the valve and its housing.
French patent application No. 89-08078 (of the applicant) describes a sealing device for a fixed member, mounted in a housing and pierced with an orifice serving as a seat for a movable member, a sealing packing having at an internal radial face of the sealing means between the fixed member and the movable member and, to an external radial face of the sealing means between the fixed member and its housing.
This device, unlike previous documents, provides a perfect seal.
However, the fixing between the parts of the fixed member is obtained by means of vertical fingers which requires the manufacture of special seals.
None of the above documents specifies the materials of the various parts of the sealing devices, since they all describe a complex assembly and therefore complicating the manufacture, which involves numerous operations.
The subject of the present invention is a sealing device which makes it possible to overcome these drawbacks and to provide various advantages consisting essentially in obtaining good mechanical endurance having a high resistance to corrosion and not contaminating drinking water.
Another object of the invention is to make it possible to weld the parts of the device by ultrasound and to reduce the number of mounting operations during manufacture.
For this purpose, the sealing device for a fixed member, mounted in a housing, pierced with an orifice serving as a seat for a movable member and an annular sealing gasket fixed to the fixed member, is
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
characterized according to the invention in that, the fixed member has, at an internal radial face, sealing means between the fixed member and the movable member and, at an external radial face, sealing means between the 'stationary member and its housing; the fixed member and the movable member are made of plastic material.
Indeed, to carry out ultrasonic welding, it is necessary that all the welded parts are made of plastic material.
In order to withstand the fatigue and repetitive movements caused by at least eighty thousand cycles of pressure and back pressure, the parts making up the sealing device according to the invention are made of plastic material capable of withstanding a pressure steam of at least 8.4 bar and a temperature of at least 1740C and a static water back pressure of 16 bar at 20 C.
In order to avoid pressure drops without carrying out an additional operation during manufacture, such as drilling lights through the wall of a cylinder, the fixed member of the sealing device is in one piece. In addition, said fixed member comprises an annular part and, arranged cylindrically, parallel uprights linked upstream of the movable member to a crown having a shoulder at one end.
In order to guide the movable member relative to the fixed member, the latter consists of two interlocking parts with each other: - a first part consisting of an annular part connected by uprights to a crown, which has at its lower portion, a vertical annular projection extending its outer radial face and a shoulder at its inner radial face.
- a substantially cylindrical ring having on the periphery of its external radial face an upper shoulder intended to receive the annular projection
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
vertical and a circular groove on its upper axial face.
In order to eliminate the problems of orientation of the parts during assembly between them and to obtain a perfect fitting in order to ensure a very good seal, the various organs of the device according to the invention consist of parts formed of a part or several parts welded together with ultrasound forming one-piece members. The ring has a lower shoulder on the periphery of its external radial face.
In order to facilitate supply and simplify manufacture by using a standard product which is very easy to obtain, the device is characterized in that the seal between the fixed member and the movable member is ensured by means of 'An O-ring and in that the seal between the fixed member and its housing is also ensured by means of an O-ring.
In order to maintain in its position the lining disposed inside the fixed member to avoid the risk of loss, the combination of the shoulder of the crown and the groove of the ring of the device, forms a housing for the O-ring.
In order to simplify assembly, the device according to the invention is characterized in that an O-ring is housed in the shoulder of the external radial face of the ring.
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will become clear during the description which follows, given solely by way of nonlimiting example, made with reference to the appended drawings in which: - FIG. 1 is a view of an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention;

- Fig. 4 is a partial sectional view of the connection n of the fixed member of the device according to the invention; - Fig. 5 shows in section the ring of the fixed member of the valve according to FIG. 2;
- Fig. 6 is an elevation view, with parts broken away, of the movable member of the valve according to FIG. 2.
The device comprises a fixed member 1 of revolution, of axis X-X 'mounted in a housing 18, a movable member 2, sliding inside the fixed member 1 and a seal 3.
The fixed member 1, in one piece in the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 1, comprises an annular part 4 located downstream of the movable member 2 and uprights 5, parallel, also distributed around the periphery of the annular part 4.
Each upright 5 is linked, upstream of the movable member 2, to a ring 10 which has on its external face, near their free end, a shoulder 6.
In the exemplary embodiment of a non-return valve shown in FIG. 2, the fixed member 1 consists of two parts welded to one another.
The first part 7, downstream of the sliding member 2, comprises an annular part 8 connected by uprights 9 to a part forming a crown 10 located upstream of the sliding member 2.
The crown 10 has an annular projection 11 extending the external radial face of the crown 10.
The crown 10 has on the circumference of its internal radial face a shoulder whose bottom is in an arc of a circle.
The second part is a substantially cylindrical ring 14 whose internal face ends in a convergent 15 with rounded edges.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The upper part of the ring 14, with regard to the part 7, has a shoulder 16. Said shoulder 16 cooperates with the annular protuberance 11 which is provided with the first part 7, to form an interlocking which ensures positioning between the ring 14 and part 7.
On its upper axial face opposite the part 7, the ring 14 has a circular groove 17a opening upwards.
In the embodiment shown, the uprights 9 are parallel to the axis XX 'and spaced at an angle of 120.
The interior surfaces of the uprights 9 are contained in the envelope of a cylinder of axis X-X 'while their exterior surfaces delimit the envelope of another cylinder of axis X-X' of radius greater than that of the first cylinder.
The inner surfaces of the ring 14 delimit the envelope of a cylinder of radius smaller than that whose envelope is delimited by the interior faces of the uprights 9 and the outer surface of the ring 14 belongs to the envelope of the cylinder delimited by the external surfaces of the uprights 9.
The movable member 2 is composed of a head 19 provided with a cylindrical coaxial rod 20. The cylindrical coaxial rod 20 is surrounded by a spring 21 working under compression in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2.
The annular seals 3, of axis XX ′ have on a internal radial face sealing means 23 between the fixed member 1 and the movable member 2 and, on an external radial face, sealing means 24 between the fixed member 1 and its housing (not shown).
In the exemplary embodiments shown in FIG. 1 and 2, the sealing means 23 are provided using O-rings perpendicular to the axis XX ′.
One of the sealing means 23 of these seals 3 is in
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
contact with the movable member 2 when the latter is in the rest position.
The sealing means 24 are provided using an O-ring working under compression
Fig. 3 shows a top view of the valve according to the invention shown in FIG. 2.
The cylindrical coaxial rod 20 passes through the annular part 8 of the fixed part 1.
The annular part 8 is held by the
EMI8.1
uprights 9 which are parallel to the axis XX 'and spaced at an angle of 120. The uprights 9 make three bosses spaced at an angle of 1200, on the upper part of the annular part 8. The height of these bosses decreases as it approaches the flat forming the top of the annular part 8. It appears clearly on this view that the outer surface of the crown 10 delimits the same cylinder envelope as the outer surface of the uprights 9, the outer surface of the crown 10 having a constant radius and forming the circumference of the cylinder
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the ring 14 is fixed to the crown 10 by ultrasonic welding, this welding being made possible by the plastic material of which the crown 10 and the ring 14 are made entirely.
The weld moves material between the crown 10 and the ring 14.
The groove 17a and the shoulder 17 are circular and travel the entire respective face of the parts where they are located.
The groove 17a is fixed automatically by the geometry of the crown 10 and the ring 14 with respect to the shoulder 17.
The combination of groove 17a and
EMI8.2
, the shoulder 17 forms a housing with the dimensions of the O-ring 23 which traps the latter. The O-ring 23 protrudes from its housing by an opening towards the inside to let it come off from its housing. The protruding part of the O-ring 23 provides internal sealing
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
by its contact with the head 19 of the movable member. The contact between the seal 23 and the head 19 forms a circle.
The ring 24 has at its lower external part a shoulder 6 of a dimension making it possible to accommodate an O-ring 24 of the same dimension as the seal 23. The seal 24, in abutment on each of the two faces of the shoulder, ensures the external sealing by compression of the housing (not shown) of the valve according to the invention.
The ring 14 shown before it is mounted on the valve in FIG. 5 has a sharp angle between its upper face and the shoulder 16 because the plastic is not yet displaced by the welding.
The external face 12 forms an external radial protuberance between the shoulders 16 and 6.
The internal face has an upper portion and a lower portion delimited by a stop. The upper portion is tilted thirty degrees inward moving from the upper portion to the lower portion relative to a cylinder of axis X-X 'and the lower portion is tilted five degrees outward when of the same displacement and relative to the same cylinder. The lower portion ends with a converging 15.
The groove 17a of the upper face has in section the shape of an arc of a circle, the center of this circle being situated outside the ring 14 in a direction perpendicular to the upper face.
Fig. 6 illustrates the movable member 20 in a partially cutaway elevation view. The movable member is formed by a cylindrical coaxial rod 20 and a head 19.
