Abstract

Un feutre en fibre minérale (5) contenant un liant organique, est mis en oeuvre pour l'isolation d'une surface chaude (3) d'un appareil thermique (1), la température de la surface chaude (3) étant d'un niveau tel que le liant se décomposerait et produirait une gêne due aux odeurs. Pour éviter cela, on réduit à zéro la teneur en liant dans une zone superficielle (6) voisine de la surface chaude (3), ce pour quoi un traitement thermique de la surface (7) correspondante du feutre en fibre minérale (5), pendant la fabrication, est spécialement indiquée ceci conduisant à une décomposition correspondante du liant. La surface (7), débarrasée de liant, peut être traitée ensuite à une température au-dessus de la température de ramollissement des fibres minérales, de façon à obtenir une consolidation mécanique.
