r "vobr eeMrnde inrichting

"Device for the boron of a tunnel and
EMI1.1
r "for a new device
The invention relates to a device for drilling a tunnel in the ground, which device is provided with a head which is equipped with a nose with a nozzle at the end, and a generally elongated body carrying the nose and which is attached to the end of a flexible drill pipe slidable in the ground from an above ground operating point through which a channel extends for supplying pressurized drilling fluid to the nozzle and the head being provided with control means operable from the operating point to be.
In such a drill mole, known from Belgian patent 906,079, the control means for orienting the drill bit comprise tilting means for the nose of the drill bit relative to the body.
In one of the embodiments described in this Belgian patent, the nose is shaped asymmetrically and can be rotated to change the drilling direction. In principle, this embodiment, shown in Fig. 7 of Belgian patent 906,079, allows drilling only according to curved paths.
The present invention relates to a drill chuck with structurally simpler control means.
According to the invention, the control means are adapted to selectively change the circumferential shape of the body of the head in the circumferential direction. D. w. z. that at the right drill the body of the drill bit

bulge Pinq is formed on the body. ¯ --ing - the body is formed in gg.
According to the invention, the body can be circumferentially divided into compartments - where n -, - remotely controllable radial expandable elements are provided.
In one embodiment of the invention, radially expandable elements may be flexible sleeves, each of which may be separately inflated through a pressurized fluid through a casing through the casing, such that at least the center portion of each of the sleeves extends beyond the circumference of the body of the casing. drill chuck protrudes. This protruding portion then contrasts with the movement of the drill bit against the liquid injected from the nozzle
3 formed tunnel wall and bends the nose and thus the entire drill head in opposite direction from the straight path.
According to the invention, the body of the drill bit may be provided with generally round end walls between which radial longitudinal dividers extend which define circumferentially divided compartments for receiving the radially expandable elements.
In order to protect these tubes against wear by friction against the tunnel wall and in order to ensure a good sliding contact between the drill bit and the tunnel wall, according to the invention a flexible metal strip can be extended over each radial compartment, which is alloyed in the end walls and of which at least one the slidable end is included in the relevant end wall. When expanding a sleeve, the protruding portion thereof pushes the flexible strip outwardly and forms an alloy over the radial outer portion of the sleeve.
In another embodiment of the drill bit according to the invention, the expandable sleeves

in the compartments are delimited by, on the one hand, the longitudinal bulkheads and the end walls in the body of the drill bit and, on the other hand, by an elastic sleeve which is arranged over the body and hermetically connected to the free longitudinal edges of the longitudinal bulkheads and the end walls.
The steering means of the drill bit according to the invention can also be used for clearing the borehole. D. w. z. that after drilling over a certain path, all the tubes are expanded and the thus enlarged diameter head is drawn backwards through the borehole and this borehole is cleared therethrough. Thereby, reaming nozzles can be facilitated by rinsing the soil around the casing.
To illustrate the invention, with reference to the drawing, some embodiments of the drilling device will be described.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the schematically shown drill bit taken on the line I-I in FIG. 2; FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the drill bit taken along line 11-11 in FIG. 1; and
EMI3.1
--- fig. in a cross-section according to Fig. 2, a variant embodiment of the control means.
According to the drawing, the drill bit 1 is provided with a nose 2 with a nozzle 3 at the end, which is attached via a body 4 to a flexible drill pipe 5 which can be pushed forward in the borehole. A pipe 6 extends through the drill pipe 5 for supplying drilling fluid to the nozzle 3.
The body 4 mainly consists of two end walls 7 and 8 which are connected to one another by longitudinal partitions 9 and which delimit four radially opening compartments 10 in the illustrated embodiments.
In each embodiment 10, in the embodiment according to Figs. 1 and 2, a tubular body 11 is found
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
is inflatable via a conduit 12, which also extends through the drill pipe 5 from the above-ground operating point.
EMI4.1
Over the compartment 10, n-in i-eTITment extends a flexible metal strip 13, the ends of which are slidably received in recesses 14 in the end walls 7 and 8.
For steering the drill bit through a bend, b. v. as indicated by arrows B in fig. 1 and 2, fluid under pressure is supplied via the relevant pipe 12 to one or more of the sleeves 11, in the illustrated situation the sleeve 11 which is located on the outside of the body 4 located. During straight drilling, drilling fluid is expelled through the nozzle 3 for the drill bit and the ground for the drill bit is loosened, so that the drill bit 1 can be pushed forward. The loosened soil is thereby pushed radially outwardly around the nose 2 and forms a tunnel wall by compaction. By selectively expanding sleeves 11, they deposit against the tunnel wall formed and the head 1 bends in the opposite direction.
The flexible strips 13 provide a sliding contact with the tunnel wall and protect the underlying tubes 11.
In the variant embodiment according to Fig. 3, the sleeves 11 have been replaced by a flexible rubber tube 16 which is hermetically sealed around the free longitudinal edges of the radial longitudinal bulkheads 9 by means of clamping members 15. Air is supplied via a pipe 12 in the compartment concerned. 10 whereby the pipe section protrudes on site and
EMI4.2
has the same effect as an inflated tube.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The sleeves 11 or the tubes forming flexible rubber tube 16 can also be used around the drilled holes
EMI5.1
Ee-clearing tunnel.
When the flexible rubber tube 16 is expanded, the drill bit 1 is pulled backwards through the tunnel.
EMI5.2
- - ---- By means of rearward-facing spray nozzles, the soil around the drill pipe 5 can be rinsed off, which facilitates clearing.
The invention is by no means limited to the above-described embodiments and many changes can be made to the described embodiments within the scope of the patent application, including as regards the shape, the composition, the arrangement and the number of the parts used to realize the invention.
