Abstract
A safety device (1) for use in emergency situations is flat, in particular single-layered, in its position of use and may be collapsed into a handy and easy-to-transport size. The device consists of such a material that, even when it is kept for longer periods in the collapsed or folded state, no breaks due to fatigue are caused at the folding lines. The surface (3) of the device is made weather resistant, as well as a signalling sign (4) fixed to the surface (3). The size and colouring of the sign, as well as its easily detectable symbolic representation, make it easily recognisable visually.
