SPECIFICATION
PETTY PATENT Invention Title: Manufacture Pot Having A Metal Axle Stuck In The Middle Of A Glass-Made The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us: FHPMELC699280004.0 GLASS-MADE BOWL HAVING A METAL AXLE FIXED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOTTOM SIDE Field of the Invention The invention relates to electromechanical appliances of the type used in kitchens for performing miscellaneous functions such as cutting, chopping, shredding, mixing, slicing, and dough kneading.
Background of the Invention Bowls that are used as a component of such electromechanical appliances are usually made from plastics and may include a metal axle fitted in the centre of the bowl.
These plastic-made bowls have the following disadvantages: Difficulty in washing When plastic bowls need to be washed after use, there is a possibility that they may loose their original shape and become deformed, due to the heat generated in automatic dishwashing machines.
In the case of a manual washing rather than automatic dishwashing, cloth scourers used in the washing process may scratch the surface of these plastic-made bowls, possibly leading to unhygienic microbiological activity within the microstructure of the-scratch marks.
Smell-absorbing Plastic bowls tend to retain the smells of foods such as meat, fish, egg, onion, garlic, dried fruit, citrus fruits, and various spices. Plastic bowls are permanently odorised in a relatively short time.
Colour-staining Plastic bowls tend to retain the colours of foods such as carrot or beetroot.
These stains cannot be removed from the surface of the bowls.
Heat-resistance Plastic bowls expand and deform when they are filled with materials like hot water and hot soup of approximately Becoming worn-looking in a short time Plastic bowls loose their initial attractiveness after a few uses due to the reasons above.
It is therefore an object of the invention to at least partly address these and other problems associated with the prior art.
Summary of the Invention The invention provides a glass bowl having a bottom on which an axle is fixed using an adhesive which is activated by ultraviolet radiation.
Preferably, the ultraviolet radiation used to activate the adhesive has a wavelength of 320nm to 400nm, and acts on the adhesive for about 30 seconds.
Preferably, the adhesive is silicone-based, and us usedto fix the axle in the middle of the bowl. The axle is preferably manufactured from stainless steel of AISI 304 quality. The glass from which the bowl is made is preferably soda or borosilicate glass.
Embodiments of the invention are desirably used with small size household appliances of the multipurpose food-processor and food chopper types equipped with a turning blade that is functioning as resting on the bottom side of a bowl.
Description of the Drawings Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional schematic drawing of an electromechanical kitchen appliance incorporating a glass bowl according to the invention; Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional schematic drawing of the glass bowl shown in Fig. 1, in which a blade is not fitted and the metal axle indicated; and Fig. 3 is a cross-sectioned schematic drawing of the glass bowl shown in Fig. 2, including a blade fitter to the metal axis.
Description of the Embodiment The kitchen appliance (Fig. 1) consists of a blade 2 having a plastic carrier providing an appropriate self-turning movement via a body which has an electrical motor that works by pressing the switch 5, externally attached to it, and a glassmade bowl 4 specially equipped with an axle 3 on which that blade 2 is located in order to function.
The embodiment of the invention, includes the assembly of the metal axle 3 to the glass bowl.
The glass bowl 4 is fitted with a metal axle 3 which is fixed in position according to a chemical process. In this process, the metal axle 3 (which may be of AISI 304 stainless steel) is fixed by the ultraviolet rays of 320-400 nanometers wavelength into the bowl 4 which is made of soda or borosilicate glass. The ultra violet rays are applied for 30 seconds, and serve to set a silicone based glue.
Electromechanical kitchen appliances that are subject to discussion should be easy to clean. It is easier to wash a glass bowl than a plastic one. One would prefer using glass bowls since they retain almost no smell. It is also noted that foodstuffs such as carrots that cause a permanent colour change in plastic bowls do not stain glass bowls.
The abovementioned embodiment of the invention enables one to enjoy the advantages of a glass bowl, rather than a plastic bowl, by providing a technique which allows a metal axle to be fixed in the middle of the glass bowl, as described.
It will be understood that the invention disclosed and defined herein extends to all alternative combinations of two or more of the individual features mentioned or evident from the text or drawings. All of these different combinations constitute various alternative aspects of the invention.
Claims (3)
1. A glass bowl constructed of borosilicate or soda glass, wherein the glass bowl includes an axle constructed of stainless steel and the axle is fixed to the glass bowl using an adhesive activated by ultraviolet light.
2. A glass bowl according to claim 1, wherein the steel axle is fixed to the glass bowl using a silicon-based glue to which 320-400nm ultraviolet light is applied for 30 seconds.
3. A glass bowl according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the axle of stainless steel is fixed to a central region of the glass bowl. ERNA-MAS MAKINA TICARET VE SANAYI ANONIM SIRKETI By its Registered Patent Attomeys Freehills Carter Smith Beadle 2 June 2000
