Description

Australia Patents Act 1990 Complete specifications Standard patent Receiver-transmitter Earmuff-hearing protectors The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it knowing to me 2 Receiver-transmitter apparatus for Earmuff-hearing protectors This invention relates to the development of receiving transmitting apparatus able to be fitted into earmuff for hearing protection Every year many people are victim of accident due to the use of hearing protection, several fatal accident had been recorded in which the victim due to the use of head phone protection were not able to be alerted of incoming danger such as trains, cranes and other industrial machinery.
The problem presented by earmuff-hearing protectors is: 1 If the hearing protection is not good enough to stop industrial noise hearing problem will develop.
2 If the hearing protection is too good sirens or other warning sounds would not alert the individual of imminent danger The above problems are overcome by the present invention, which allows the use of earmuff-hearing protectors for protection against industrial noise and is able to alert the individual of incoming danger by receiving radio :i signals broadcasted by alarms, sirens and/or other individuals. These radio S.i signals are audible inside the earmuff-hearing protectors as an alarm.
:This invention also provides a simple machine to person and person to person way of communication while wearing earmuff-hearing protectors.
Description and mode of operation of this invention Receiver-transmitter earmuff-hearing protectors The Receiver-transmitter apparatus for earmuff-hearing protectors has three components 1 a high output broadcast device connected to horn and/or sirens of machinery such as trains and cranes able to broadcast a signal up to 1500 meters (longer or shorter distances could be arranged) 2 a small radio receiver small enough to be fitted into the cavity that cover the ear of a earmuff-hearing protectors.
3 A small radio transmitter small enough to be fitted into the cavity that covers the (other) ear of a earmuff protector able to broadcast a signal up to 20 meters (distance of broadcast could be arranged) The Receiver-transmitter apparatus are fitted into earmuff-hearing protectors cavities by physical means such as glue or mountings without damage or compromise the integrity of the earmuff-hearing protectors.
In one ear cavity of the earmuff-hearing protectors, a miniaturized of high fidelity and low power consumption radio receiver powered by a battery would be mounted and on the other ear cavity of the earmuff a miniaturized radio transmitter powered by battery, with a limited range of up to 20 meters would also be fitted.
Mode of operation If a train, crane or other machinery that can cause accidents is fitted with a high output broadcast device connected to horn and/or sirens, every time that the train, crane or machine activates the horn or other audible meaning of alert the output device will broadcast a radio signal which would be picked up by the miniaturized high fidelity and low power consumption radio receiver and as consequence an alarm would be heard by the person wearing the earmuff-hearing protectors.
This alarm would alert the operator of an incoming danger.
The above is the mode of operation from machine to operator (worker) This device also allows a person to person way of communication since if the miniaturized radio transmitter powered by battery, with a limited range of up to 20 meters is activated by one operator by pressing a button attached somewhere on the outside of the headphone hearing protector. it will be heard by every person wearing a earmuff-hearing protectors of this kind in a radius up to 20 meters.
The workers in that radius would hear an alarm. A quick look around would be enough to identify the person emitting the signal.
Note that the person that activates the transmitter will be able to hear his/her own emission this feature is vital since in this way the radio transmitter and receiver can be tested for proper function of transmitter and received by the operator at any time.
Note that the radio wave used is radio band, which will not interfere with commercial radio or television. Most probably by using UHF 700 MHZ.
To assist with understanding the invention, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawing which shows the invention.
Fig 1 shows a earmuff-hearing protectors Fig 2 shows the cavity 1 in which the miniaturized of high fidelity and low power consumption radio receiver powered by a battery would be mounted and padding 2 normally found inside earmuff-hearing protectors NOTE: that a miniaturize radio receiver could adopt practically any form :i and could be (if necessary) reduce to a size of a 20 cent coin, for this reason it would made no sense to add it into a drawing.
Fig3 shows the cavity 3 in which the miniaturized radio transmitter powered by battery, with a limited range of up to 20 meters would be fitted and padding 4 normally found inside hearing protectors NOTE: that a miniaturize radio transmitter could adopt practically any form 0. and could be (if necessary) reduce to small size. For this reason it would make no sense to add it into a drawing.
*.e Fig4 shows the button 5 which would activate the miniaturized radio transmitter and send a radio signal.
FigS shows a schematic graph of machine to worker action Fig6 shows a schematic graph of worker to worker action.
