Abstract

Ear protecting device for being positioned in the ear meatus (3) of a human, and comprising an inner microphone (M2), wherein the inner microphone (M2) h as a sound inlet (S2) for being directed toward the meatus (3), arranged for converting a picked-up sound signal (52) to an output signal (51); the ear protecting device also comprising a an electronics unit (11) including sound analyzing means arranged for analyzing the output signal (51) and comparing the signal with predetermined signals corresponding to acceptable noise limi ts and for activating an indicator (72) when detecting a passing of these limit s.

Claims (20)

1. Ear protecting device for being positioned in the ear meatus (3) of a human, and comprising an inner microphone (M2), wherein the inner microphone (M2) has a sound inlet (S2) for being directed toward the meatus (3), arranged for converting a picked-up sound signal (52) to an output signal (51); the ear protecting device also comprising a an electronics unit (11) including sound analyzing means arranged for analyzing the output signal (51) and comparing the signal with predetermined signals corresponding to acceptable noise limits and for activating an indicator (72) when detecting a passing of these limits.
2. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, wherein the sound analyzer (5) is provided with a discriminator (55) arranged for discriminating between periods of time having sound levels below or above a given sound level limit (71).
3. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, wherein the indicator (72) comprises a time record (73) of sound levels.
4. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, wherein the indicator (72) comprises a risk assessment record (75).
5. Ear protecting device according to claim 4, wherein the indicator (72) comprises a record of accumulated noise dose.
6. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, wherein the indicating device (72) is a sound generator having a sound outlet arranged to be directed toward the meatus.
7. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, wherein the indicating device (72) comprises a radio transmitter.
8. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, comprising a channel (T1) through the sealing section (2) between the sealed-off portion of the meatus (3) and the sound inlet (S2) of the microphone (M2).
9. Ear protecting device according to claim 1, comprising a memory means (74) for recording the analyzed signal.
10. Ear protecting device according to claim 1 also comprising an outer microphone (M1) for acoustic measurements in the environment.
11. Ear protecting device according to claim 10, comprising a pressure alignment channel (T3) for slow air throughput to and from the meatus (3) through the sealing section (2).
12. Ear protecting device according to claim 10, wherein the sound inlet (S2) is constituted by a canal (T2) between the microphone (M2) and the inward facing portion of the sealing section (2) and the meatus.
13. Ear protecting device according to claim 11, wherein the pressure alignment channel (T3) includes a pressure release valve (V) arranged for opening if the pressure difference between the meatus and the environment of the user exceeds a predetermined limit.
14. Ear protecting device according to claim 13, comprising a bypass channel (T4) in the pressure alignment channel (T3).
