Ulrich Soller and Dieter Lorenzen Spruson Ferguson, Patent Attorneys Level 33 St Martins Tower, 31 Market Street Sydney, New South Wales, 2000, Australia Filter Apparatus for Gaseous Media a a a a a is a ng it full description known to me/us:of this invention, including the a.
a a a a.* oo •r o a.* a.
a a a a oooo *f 5845 Filtration Device for Gaseous Media The invention relates to a filtration device for gaseous media having the features set forth in the preamble of claim 1.
In filtration devices of this kind, which operate without an integrated s cleaning system, such as have, for example, become known from US- PS 5,230,723, the filters must frequently be removed from the housing and replaced by cleaned filters. For this purpose a separate part housing is provided for each of the sections named in the preamble which are clamped together in the operating position by releasable connection eleo ments to form an overall housing and which have to be distanced from one another for the removal or exchange of the filters by opening of the connection elements in order to provide adequate access to the filters.
In addition to this procedure, which is relatively complicated apparatuso*o wise and from the point of view of its handling, which is particularly ap- I Xparent with large industrial filter devices, there comes the fact that even after distancing the part of the housing containing the filter, the filters are S.:i not located in a position in which they are ready to be grasped but must first be released out of the housing part, which leads on the whole to longer interruptions of the operation.
o 2 The invention is based on the object of avoiding these deficiencies and accordingly to reduce the cost and complexity on removal or exchange of the filters.
This object is satisfied by the measures set forth in the characterizing part of claim 1.
In this respect it is no longer necessary to subdivide the overall housing into a plurality of partial housings, but rather a unitary housing can be Sused. Moreover, the filters are easily made accessible by pivoting them out of the overall housing envelope so that a simple removal of the filters from their support is sufficient in order to effect the change that is required rapidly and without complication. It is admittedly known from EP-PA 0 269 054 to effect a tilting process through a specific angle in a io filter arrangement in order to be able to easily remove the filter. However, that reference is concerned with a filter arrangement for the cleaning of liquid operating substances, in particular lubricating oil of internal combustion engines, and on the other hand to a tilting of the overall housing, which can in practice only be used with small filter apparatus of the kind I present there.
A plurality of embodiments of the subject of claim 1 are characterized in the subordinate claims. The proposal of claims 2 and 3 is in particular of importance because, in accordance with these claims, a cooperation of the carrying frame takes place with a pressing member, in which a motionally oc fixed and force-locked connection between the carriei- frame and the pressing member is achieved without additional means in the working position using a single latching device. The release of the system for the attainment of the pivotal position is possible by simple release of this single latching device.
2 The subject of the invention is illustrated in the drawings with reference to a schematic embodiment, and indeed there are shown: Fig. 1 a the filter device in side view in working position, Fig. l b the filter device in accordance with Fig. la in plan view, and Fig. 2 the filter device in the tilted position in side view.
The same parts are designated with the same reference numerals in all G designates the housing of the filtration device, with this being an upright apparatus, which is operated with suction, i.e. without an inbuilt fan, and through which the air L to be filtered flows from the bottom to the top. The important part of the housing is formed in one piece and comlo prises three regions B. 1, B.2, B.3 lying above one another, of which the lowermost region b. 1 has an air inlet opening 1 and serves for the air pretreatment, e.g. the coarse cleaning, the moisturizing or demoisturizing, the heating up, the desinfection and optionally also for the reception of a fan.
The middle region b.2 contains the filters 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and the uppermost i IS region B.3 has an air collecting space 4 with an air outlet opening 5 and a pressing member 6, which is described in more detail further below.
In the present embodiment the three filters 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 are stacked flush °°;above one another, with the filters being of ring-like design in such a way that the air in each case flows approximately vertically into the filter from o° o below, flows substantially horizontally through the ring wall and flows upwardly to the collecting space 4 between the filter and the housing wall 0 3 (amongst other things, see the flow arrows). A carrier frame 7 for the filters is arranged in the middle region B.2 of the housing in such a way that it can be brought into two positions, and indeed into the operating position, in which it is located in the interior of the housing (Fig. la, Ib) and a tilted position in which it can be pivoted through a specific angle, in the present embodiment through approximately 75' relative to the vertical, out of the housing G (Fig. 2).
The carrying frame 7 has for this purpose a ring-like carrying plate 7.1 for s the lowermost filter 2.1 and two carrying tubes 7.2, which are rigidly connected to the carrier plate 7.1, with the former serving as a support for the filters in the operating position and the latter serving as a support for the filters in the tilted position.
The carrier plate 7.1 is pivotally mounted relative to the housing about a horizontal axis 7.4, whereas the carrier tubes 7.2 are so spaced from one another that they ensure a position of the filters in the tilted position which is secure against rolling away.
A part of the sidewalls of the housing is formed as a door 9 which is so arranged and dimensioned that the passage of the carrier tube 7.2 through the door opening into the tilted position is made possible (Fig. 2).
o The mentioned pressing member 6 in the uppermost region B.3 of the housing consists in the present embodiment of a pressing plate 6.2, which is matched to the upper side of the topmost filter 2.3, a pressing yoke 6.1, which is pivotally connected to the housing about a horizontal axis 6.4 l oand adjustment member 6.3, in the present case a threaded spindle, which connects the two parts. The pressing yoke 6.1 cooperates with a latching device 8 secured in the housing, and formed in the present case as a snap device, in such a way that it can be latched in the working position and can be released for the attainment of the tilted position, with the Srelease being capable of being effected in the present case by hand. The pressing yoke 6.1 and the two carrier tubes 7.2 cooperate to the extent that the latter are equipped at their upper ends with spigots 7.3, which engage into corresponding recesses in the pressing yoke 6.1 and thus produce a motorically fixed and force-transmitting connection between the carrying frame 7 and the pressing member 6.
In order to hold the filters secure against rattling in the housing and in the carrier frame in the operating position, spacer blocks 10 are, on the one hand, secured to the housing and, on the other hand, the two carrier tubes 7.2 are so placed that they prevent any remaining lateral freedom of movement of the filters (see in this respect Fig. ib).
o In the present embodiment the housing is provided with an additional housing GZ releasable from it, in which chicanes 11) are provided for an upward and downward guidance of the air to be cleaned prior to its entry into the lowermost region of the housing in order in this way to achieve a further air pre-treatment space.
t, If necessary, an additional housing of this kind can be dispensed with.
