Abstract

The purpose of the façade plate, which is intended, in particular, for panelling the façade between window openings in a building fitted with transparent glass panes, for example insulating glass panes, is to produce a glass façade which is visually uniform in outward appearance. The façade panel has a transparent glass backing at the back of which there is a metal oxide coating to match the outer appearance of the façade panel in reflection and hue to that of the glass panes and an essentially optically dense outer layer applied to this coating on the side remote from the glass backing. The panel is characterised in that an inner layer (12) formed as a light-transparent metal or metal-alloy layer is applied to the glass backing (10) and its thickness is such that it reduces the light transparency of the glass backing (10) coated with it by 30 % to 85 % compared with the uncoated glass backing (10), in that the metal oxide layer (14) adjacent to the inner layer (12) is formed as a dielectric layer composed of at least one metal oxide and has an optical thickness in the range from 60 nm to 100 nm, in that the outer layer (10) is formed as such a metal or metal-alloy layer, in that the light transparency of the finally coated glass backing (10) is < 5 % and its light reflection in the outer appearance is in the range from 8 to 25 %, and in that the metals used for the inner layer (12) and the outer layer (10) are chosen in such a way that the ratio n/k of the real part n and the imaginary part k of the complex refractive index of these layers is between 0.2 and 5. The invention also relates to its use. <IMAGE>
