Description
A PRE-FABRICATED BUILDING Technical Field The present invention relates to buildings, and more particularly but not exclusively to pre-fabricated and portable buildings.
Background of the Invention Pre-fabricated and portable buildings traditionally have had generally planar inclined exterior roof surfaces beneath which there is located a ceiling.
These previously known structures have been relatively simple in design and special attention has not been paid to "cross-flow" air ventilation.
10 Object of the Invention It is the object of the present invention to overcome or substantially ameliorate the o. above disadvantages.
Summary of the Invention There is disclosed herein a prefabricated or portable building comprising: S 15 a front wall; a rear wall of a height less than said front wall; two side walls extending between the front and rear walls; a curved roof extending from said front wall arcuately down to said rear wall; at least one window aperture in said rear wall; at least one first window aperture in said front wall located adjacent said roof; and at least one second window aperture in said front wall located at a lower position with respect to said first aperture.
Brief Description of the Drawings A preferred form of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein: Figure 1 is a schematic front perspective view of a building; I RA4 v Figure 2 is a schematic rear perspective view of the building of Figure 1; and [N:\LIBTT]00557:JED:TCW Figure 3 is a schematic sectioned side elevation of the building of Figure 1.
Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment In the accompanying drawings there is schematically depicted a building 10. The building 10 may be a prefabricated building or a portable building. The building 10 may be formed of segments, with the segments being transportable. Alternatively, the building may be preassembled and transported as a unit.
The building 10 includes a front wall 11 joined to a rear wall 12 by side walls 13.
The front wall 11 is of a greater height than the rear wall 12, and the building 10 is S provided with a roof 14 which is arcuate in configuration extending from the front wall 11 S 10 arcuately to the rear wall 12.
The rear wall 12 is provided with a plurality of windows 15, while the front wall 11 S-is provided with a first set of windows 16 which are located adjacent the roof 14. The front wall 11 is also provided with a second set of windows 17 which are located at a spaced position below the windows 16.
The building 10 also includes a floor structure 18.
4, Located internally of the building 10 are ceiling fans 19 which are suspended from the roof 14, together with light fittings Preferably, the building 10 would be provided with overhanging eaves 21 as well as a covered walkway 22.
S 20 The building 10 would rest on foundations 23.
Preferably the side walls 13 would have a covering consisting of sheet metal such as sheet steel or aluminium. Similarly, the roof 14 would have a sheet covering again formed of sheet metal such as steel or aluminium.
In the above described building 10, the arcuate configuration of the roof 14 enhances its aesthetic appeal while facilitating "cross-flow" air ventilation. Typical air flows through the interior of the building 10 are represented by the arrow lines 24.
[N:\LBT]00557:JED 3 The claims defining the invention are as follows: 1. A prefabricated or portable building comprising: a front wall; a rear wall of a height less than said front wall; two side walls extending between the front and rear walls; a curved roof extending from said front wall arcuately down to said rear wall; at least one window aperture in said rear wall; at least one first window aperture in said front wall located adjacent said roof; and at least one second window aperture in said front wall located at a lower position o with respect to said first aperture.
ooooo 2. The building of claim 1, wherein said roof extends beyond said front and rear wall so as to provide eaves.
i 3. The building of claim 2, further including a walkway extending from said S: front wall, which walkway is covered by a roof portion extending from said front wall at a position between said at least one first window aperture and said at least one second window aperture.
4. A building substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the o• Saccompanying drawings.
