INVENTION TITLE: Decorative fashion accessory The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us:- *o 9 99 I I I Q:\OPER\GCP\68872.C 12/8197 -1A- Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a decorative wrist fashion accessory which can be used, for example, as a purse.
Background of the Invention Fashion accessories for the wrist or other like parts of the body are known, and may include utilitarian features. Illustrative items of such nature are, for example, disclosed in United States Patent Nos. 4,757,588; 4,462,116 and 5,141,141. Such fashion accessories, however, are of relatively unappealing appearance and have a uniform construction. It is, therefore, the object of the present invention to provide a decorative accessory formed of bunched fabric construction which can be positioned tightly in place, is of novel design and which includes an integral pocket which permits the accessory to serve as a purse or receptacle for small items.
Summary of the Invention "i According to the present invention there is provided a decorative fashion accessory having an elastic band surrounded partially along its circumference by bunched fabric of relatively iarge width, an opening extending at least partially along said bunched fabric of S. relatively large width, means for selectively opening and closing said opening, and a tubular length of fabric of appreciably less width surrounding the remaining portions of said band to enable the accessory to encircle an appendage of the user to provide a decorative purse to be worn by the user.
The invention also provides a decorative purse adapted to be worn around the wrist of the user, including an elastic band surrounded by fabric, said fabric being formed into a 25 first portion surrounding said band along a portion of the circumference of said band, and a second portion surrounding the remaining circumferential portion of said band and having width of a dimension noticeably less than that of said first portion; an opening extending at least partially along said first portion and means for selectively opening and closing said opening.

Description of a Preferred Embodiment Fig. 4 illustrates the decorative fashion accessory 10 of the present invention in use as a wrist purse. As illustrated in Figs.
1 through 3, the fashion accessory of the* present invention includes an elastic band 12 shown in phantom in Fig. 2; and the internal elastic band 12 is surrounded partially by bunched fabric 14 of relatively large dimension. The present invention is envisioned to be used with any style and form of fabric with any pattern. The fabric can be of a plain color, or can be decorated with stripes, polka dots or any other design.
As illustrated, the bunched fabric 14 of relatively large dimension does not fully encircle the elastic band 12, but a tubular length forming a ring 16 of fabric of appreciably less dimension surrounds the remaining portions of the band 12. In this .ao way, as illustrated clearly in Fig..4, the large dimension portion may be oriented outwardly from the wrist and arm, enhancing comfort and avoiding interference when the arm is moved.
The large dimension fabric portion 14a has an opening 18 closed by suitable closure such as zipper 20 best seen in Fig. 3.
In this way, a pocket can be provided so that personal articles such as tissues, house keys or the like can be placed within the opening 18 and secured during activity.
The present invention is not intended to be limited by the details for the embodiment described above, but by the appended claims.
Claims (4)
1. A decorative fashion accessory having an elastic band surrounded partially along its circumference by bunched fabric of relatively large width, an opening extending at least partially along said bunched fabric of relatively large width, means for selectively opening and closing said opening, and a tubular length of fabric of appreciably less width surrounding the remaining portions of said band to enable the accessory to encircle an appendage of the user to provide a decorative purse to be worn by 1Q the user.

A decorative purse adapted to be worn around the wrist of the user, including an elastic band surrounded by fabric, said fabric being formed into a first portion surrounding said band along a portion of the circumference of said band, and a second portion surrounding the remaining circumferential portion of said band and having width of a dimension noticeably less than that of said first portion; an opening extending at least partially along 40*0 said first portion and means for selectively opening and closing said opening. ft 0*o* *6 111 -L -L 4
3. A decorative fashion accessory or decorative purse substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the drawings.
