Applicant: NIHON KENKO ZOUSHIN KENKYUKAI CORPORATION Invention Title: MAGNETIC THERAPEUTIC APPARATUS The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us: TITLE OF THE INVENTION Magnetic Therapeutic Apparatus Technical Field The present invention relates to a magnetic therapeutic apparatus for magnetic therapy by exerting magnetic fields over a wide range of a human body.
Background Art The applicant of this invention formerly proposed a magnetic therapeutic apparatus formed by flexibly 0 connecting in one row, a plurality of cases each housing solenoids therein, with their magnetic pole faces orienting in the same direction. After this magnetic therapeutic apparatus is installed by winding it around a r" diseased part of a human body, when A.C current is flowed through the solenoids of each case, an alternating magnetic field generated from each solenoid acts on the human body, thereby alleviating from various symptoms I such as stiffness. Furthermore, this magnetic therapeutic apparatus generates vibration and heat due to current conduction to the solenoids, thereby providing the human body with a massaging effect, as well as a W t i I I 219/ A. Ic -2warming effect.
A magnetic therapeutic apparatus of this type has a structure in which cases containing solenoids are connected in one row, thus even when the apparatus is installed by winding it around the human body, an effective range of the magnetic fields is limited to a narrow scope.
Disclosure of Invention The present invention provides a magnetic therapeutic apparatus for exerting magnetic field on a human body comprising: a bed including a curved support face for supporting a human body, said support face dimensioned and configured in a manner to correspond generally with the shape of a human body; one or more covers, each being disposed above the bed and having a concave surface facing said support face; and a plurality of magnetic field generators disposed on said support face of the bed and the concave surface of the covers; each magnetic field generator comprises a plurality of solenoids, each of which is contained within a respective case, said cases being connected flexibly together in one row, and wherein said solenoids are orientated so that they are disposed in the same direction.
ce t In one preferred mode, the whole of said bed is formed integrally by a fiber reinforced plastic (called FR'P), and a plural number of air holes are formed in said support face. Furthermore, a cooling fan may be installed inside the bed with a direction of air flow facing the support face.
As regards the covers, either of them is formed into a curved shape, the lateral center portion is high and both side ends are low, on the basis of the support face of the bed, in one aspect. And in other aspect, it is pivoted at one side end to a side end portion of said bed, and in another aspect, it is hanged on said bed by a support arm connected inclinably to the bed and by a support frame connected pivotally to the support arm.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION Fig. 1 to Fig. 5 show an entire configuration of a magnetic therapeutic apparatus which is one embodiment of the present invention.
The magnetic therapeutic apparatus shown is consisting of a bed 1 provided with a support face 2 S whereon the human body can lie, a cover 3 and a head cover 9 disposed above the bed 1, the entire bed 1 is supported by a pedestal 4. In addition, numeral 5 in the figure designates a wall mounted along one side edge of the bed 1.

The air holes 6 are formed not only in the back support portion 2B13, but also in the head support portion 2A and the leg support portion 2C. In Fig. 3 and Fig. 6, a reference character 2D designates arm support portions formed on both sides of the back support portion 2B.
On the head support portion 2A, back support portion 2B, leg support portion 2C and arm support portion 2D of the support face 2, a suitable number of magnetic field generating units 10 each of which is constituted by connecting five magnetic field generators 15 in a row are disposed respectively, so as to apply magnetic fields generated by the magnetic field generating units 10 to the entire body.
As shown in Fig. 7 and Fig. 8, each magnetic field generator 15 is constituted by disposing electromagnetic solenoids 17 in case 16 made of synthetic resin. Each of the cases 16 is formed by facing the open end faces of a pair of partial cases 16a, 16b and fixing a plural positions by screws 16c. On side end faces of each case either protruded axes 18a, 18a or bearing hols 18b, 18b are formed, thereby the adjacent cases 16, 16 are pivotally connected with each other by engaging protruded axes 18a into the respective bearing holes 18b.
S, As shown in Fig. 9, said electromagnetic solenoid 17 is consisting of a Laminated iron core 20 including divided portions 22, 23 at opposite ends of a base S 20 portion 21, and coil bobbins 31, 32 engaged to the divided portions 22, 23. The coil bobbins 31, 32 are constructed by winding coils 37, 38 around spools 35, 36 which is made of synthetic resin and have collars 33, 34 at opposite ends respectively. When an AC current is 6 0 41 hll 44h4 20 t 4 -7 applied to tile coils 37, 38, an alternating magnetic fields are generated from the ends of the divided portions 22, 23.
The electromagnetic solenoid 17 is fixed inside the case 16. with the ends of the divided portions 22, 23 facing one partial case 16a, thereby an external face of the partial case 16a serves as a magnetic-pole face 11 generating the magnetic field.
In addition, on the magnetic-pole face 11 of the partial case 16a, a radiation coating -film 19 may be formed, as required, by coating the face with a far infrared radiating material such as zirconia, zircon, titania, alumina, cordierite, quartzite and so on. The above far infrared radiating materials radiate the far infrared rays when excited by heating. Besides coating the surface of the case 16 with the far infrared radiating materials, they may be mixed into the molding materials of the case 16.

The head cover 9 which is formed into -~curved shape, can be open and closed up and down being disposed 4at the head support portion 2A, The head cover 9 Is pivoted at one side end so as to be open upward by a handle 12 Provided on the other side end. At the end portion of the head support portion 2A, one set of magnetic field generating units 10 are fi xed by fixing metal 13 With their magnetic-pole f aces 1.1 8 facing inside the bed 1.
Said cover 3 is pivoted to an end of a support arm 41 by a support frame 42 at both sides in the longitudinal center portion, thereby the cover 3 is hanged horizontally in a balanced state. The base end of the support arm 41 is mounted inclinably on the upper surface of the wall 5 by a fixture 43, thereby the height of the cover 3 from the support face 2 can be set freely.
Said support arm 41 and said support frame 42 are connected pivotally, thereby the support frame 42 is 00#0 pivotable horizontally to the support arm 41.

When using the magnetic therapeutic apparatus having the above-mentioned configuration, first, after lifting and opening the cover 3, the user lies on the support face 2 of the bed 1 with the head positioning on the head support prtion the legs on the leg support portion 2C and tLue back on the back support portion 2B, Then, the arms are placed on the arm support portions 2D, after covering the cover 3 over the chest to abdomen and the head cover 9 over the head. Claims (5)
- 2. A magnetic therapeutic apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said magnetic pole faces are disposed so as to face a human body supported on said support face.
- 3. A magnetic therapeutic apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the whole of said bed is integrally formed from fibre reinforced plastic, and a plurality of air holes are formed in said support face.
- 4. A magnetic therapeutic apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein a cooling fan is installed inside said bed and orientated so as to direct a flow of air toward the support face. ayoe 5. - 6. A magnetic therapeutic apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein at least one of said covers is suspended above said bed by a support arm connected to said bed and by a support frame connected pivotally to said support arm.
