Abstract

A thermal spray powder feed composition for forming a refractory oxide coating comprising a mixture of zirconium silicate and zirconia at least partially stabilized with a stabilizing oxide. The as-deposited coating has a chemical composition of which, by x-ray phase analysis, comprises ZrSi04 and Zr02.x where x is selected from Ca0, Y203, Mg0, Ce02, and Hf02. <IMAGE>
