Description

P/00/01 1 Form PATENTS ACT 1952 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION
(ORIGINAL)
FOR OFFICE USE Short Title: Int. Cl: Fpplincation Number: Lodged: /6 fp i qq( 0:00 :.G~nmplete Specification-Lodged: Accepted: Lapsed: Published: Priority: *elated Art., TO BE COMPLETED BY APPLICANT :.N~ne -af Applicant: PETER JOSEPH OLO}IAH AND SUSAN MIARY KITHARIN'E OLOHMT Address fo Appvican: 11. INATMRLEY DRIVE, TWO ROCKS, i,3TERN AUTRALI 6037 Complete Specification for the invention entitled: W0.1 l' A1 D is The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:- *Note: The de,,cription is to be typed in doub~le spacing, pica type face, in an aroa not exceeding 260 mm in depth and 160 mm In width, on tough white paper of good quality and it is to be Inserted inside this form, 1 SHOWER AND BATH BODY BRUSH This invention relates to a device for easy and thorough washing of the back or any part of the body, with the use of minimal effort and movement, being especially useful for the elderly or physically disabled person.
For many people the difficulty involved in reaching the back results S* in merely letting the water run over it, thereby not thoroughly cleansing the back as is the rest of the body.
There have been other proposals for back-washing devices, but these have still necessitated the use of considerable dexterity and contortions of the arms to achieve any result.
These problems are overcome by the present invention which provides a back and body washing device, known as The hower And Bath Body t oo 3rmsh, comprising a curved centrally braced framework, having shoulder arches and handgr;p at the top end, and a body-width brush of fine soft bristles surrounding a centre sponge piece, and having a recess in tha upper edge of the bristle housing vaith a hingel mesh cover for the containment of soap pieces or slivers, known as the soap dispienser at the lower end.
The present invention will now be described by way of aeample, with reference to the accompanying dra ings in which Figure 1 shows an example of a shower and bath body brush device according to this invention.
2- Figure 2 shows an enlarged example of the soap dispenser incorporated in the brush head, with X-shaped braces in the framework.
Referring to Fig. 1 it can be seen that the shower and bath body brush device according to this invention comprises a curved framework 1 of tubular material of P, suitable composition, strengthened with cross braces 2 and having shoulder.arches 3 and handgrips 4.
The framework 1 is moulded with tho brush head 5 which has a series of fine soft bristles 6 around the outer portion of the head and a central sponge piece 7. The inset soap dispenser 8 has a hinged 12 10 mesh cover 9 which clips to the brush head by means of projecting clips 11 fitting into small recesses 110.
So.
Fig. 2 shows the framework 1 with X-shaped cross braces 13 and an enlargement of the brush head 5 with the inset soap dispenser recess 8 and the hinged 12 mesh cover 9 in the open position with the clip 15 recesses 10 and projecting clips 11.
By clasping the handgrips 4 and placing the framew-ork 1 with attached 0 0 S"brush 5 over the shoulders to the back whilst under the shower or in the bath, it is then a matter of simple co-ordinated up and down movements of the arms to give a complete and thorough washing of the back or any other part of the body, the lather being provided by the action of the water passing through the soap dispenser 8 containing the soap pieces during the up and down movements. The device can be used in similar manner on the front of the body or on the legs, both front and back, being of particular advantage for the elderly or physically disabled person.
-3- It will be realised that the shower and bath body brush device according to this invention is not restricted to bcing made of moulded plastic for example, but other suitable materials such as lightweight alloy or very light wood could be used.
It will also be realised that the blush head according to this invention could also be comprised of all bristles or all sponge.
