5 In conjunction with the modern element mode of construction, which 0 00 o finds application also in lift construction and in which self-supporting 0 shaft modules are prefabricated in the factory and equ4pped completely with 0 0~ co et l wit *oo all individual parts are transported to the building site and assembled one layered upon the other, great attention is to be given above all to the )Oguide rail butt joints. Unobjectionable butt joint connections with a centring device facilitate the assembly of the entire shaft module and assist in saving expensive assembly times on the building site.
0000 0 0 A device for the connection of guide rails has become known by the 00000DD-PS 92 525, in which grooves are milled in the flange and in the web at the end face of the lower guide end and fitting keys are likewise milled in the flange and in the web at the end face of the upper guide end at the butt joints of the guide rails. In addition, a strap with taper bevels at all sides is welded to the flange of the lower guide rail end, which strap fits into a pocket-shaped connecting shoe welded to the flange of the upper guide rail end. The bevelled strap arranged at the lower part serves during the putting together of both the rail parts as preliminary guide for the exactly fitting milled grooves and keys at the end face, wherein the connecting shoe of the upper guide rail part is plugged over the strap and led into the correct aligned position constrainedly guided at all sides. A locking 2 element, whicii is driven into the wedge path milled into the strap and the connecting shoe, secures both the guide rail parts in their final operating position.
A disadvantage of this device for the connection of guide rails lies in that the strap as well as also the connecting shoe are to be welded on at the flange of the guide rail. In that case, thermal stresses and distortions can arise, which have a negative effect on the running quality of the lift cage. On the other hand, the wedge paths, at least those in the connecting shoe, for the locking of both the guide rail ends are to be produced before the welding of the connecting shoe to the flange of the guide rail. Thereby, it is required that the parts to be welded mut agree exactly with the milled groovus and keys as well as also with the milled wedge paths.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is disclosed a connecting joint for two guide rails comprising a centring device which aligns the two guide rails to be connected with each other, haracierised in that at the end of a first guide rail a connecting strap is located against three sides of said fiist guide rail, and bolted thereto, said connectiiag strap has at the end to be attached to the second guide rail bevelled sections at the rear and both sides directed towards the first guide rail to act as a centring device.
Preferably the connecting strap to be bolted onto the first guide rail adjoins said first i :i guide rail on three sides, has a U-shape configuration and embraces the guide rails on both flange of the guide rails.
Preferably the U-shaped connecting strap has a holding strap with a rear sided bevelling in which the U-shaped connection strap embraces the holding strap and the sides of S the flanges of the guide rails and the lateral bevels formed by guide lobes which are separated j o from the rear section of the connecting strap and are bent slightly outward.
25 Preferably said connecting strap has a holding strap with a chamfered section adjoining the rear of flange of the guide rails and angular guide straps one on each side of the guide rails and guide lobe bent slightly outwards whereby one flange of the angular guide strap adjoins the web of the guide rails and the second flange has bolt holes and one is bolted on each inside of the flange of the guide rails to the holding strap with bolts.
Preferably whereby the second flange of the angular guide strap in the area of the bolt holes has spot facing to compensate for the slope of the flange of the guide rails.
Preferably a final centring guide is utilised.
2a Preferably said final centring guide is arranged at the end faces of said guide rails and consists of a groove and an associated key way.
The advantages achieved by the invention are to be seen substantially in that the screwed strap connection with the needed guide equipments is producible by commercially usual flat profiles or by bevelled metal plate parts, wherein the fastening holes for the screw connection in the guide rail parts as well as also in the strap parts can be drilled preliminarily true to gauge in the factory. For the assembly of a shaft module, the straps 1 0 screwed to the lower rail length of two mutually opposite guide rails serve as guide aid for the lower end of the upper guide rail so that the 0oo09 9 0 0 oa o o o 9 00 0 0 0 o o0 0 oS oo a 0 0 0 O 0 9000 0000 0 0 0 0 9 o 0o 0 9 00 0 0 o 00 o 0o o N~3-

The last centring of the guide rails is additionally facilitated thereby, that the groove and key arranged at the end face display bevelled edges. A further advantage also lies in that the guide rails experience no thermal stresses or distortions due to welding operations.

The upper end of a lower guide rail is denoted by 1 in the Figs. 1, Is~- lI^-I-- 4 2, 3, 4 and 5. A groove 1.1 for the reception of a projecting key 2.1 of an upper guide rail 2 is provided at least in the web 1.2 in the end face of the lower guide rail 1. The groove 1.1 and the key 2.1 possess bevelled edges 1.5 and 2.5 respectively on both longitudinal sides. Four fastening holes 1.4, onto which holes of a retaining strap 3 and a guide strap 4 fit, are for example provided in the flange 1.3 of the guide rail 1. The retaining strap 3 is produced of flat material and displays for example eight fastening holes and a bevel 3.1 serving at the upper end as guidance a for an adjoining guide rail 2. The guide strap 4 likewise possesses i, i 10 corresponding eight fastening holes and is of metal plate bent into U-shape with two flanges 4.1 and a web 4.3. The flanges 4,1 of the guide strap 4 0° laterally embrace the retaining strap 3 and the flange 1.3 of the guide rail 1 and 2 respectively. At the upper end of the guide strap 4, both the 00 W flanges 4.1 are separated from the web 4.3 over a certain length and m~ 0° 15 slightly kinked outwardly and on both sides form a guide lobe 4.4 with the 000 bevels 4.2 as lateral centring during the assembly of an adjoining guide °rail 2. Both the ends of the guide rails 1 and 2 are butted together and 004000 S firmly connected one with the other by screws 5, tapered washers 7, locking washers 8 and nuts 6 with the aid of the retaining strap 3 and the guide strap 4.
A further variant of embodiment of a guide rail butt joint, in which no U-shaped guide straps are used, is illustrated by the Figs. 6, 7 and 8.
The retaining strap 3 is constructed the same as for the guide rail butt joint according to the Figs. 1, 2 and 3, whilst two guide straps 4 and 14 are produced of two bracket-shaped bevelled metal plates and arranged on both sides of the web 1.2 of the guide rail 1. A first limb 4.1 and 14.1 of the guide strap 4 and 14, respectively, lies planarly against the web 1.2 of I the guide rail 1 and the second limb 4.3 and 14.3 lies planarly against the slightly inclined inward surface of the flange 1.3 of the guide rail 1. The first limb 4.1 and 14.1 displays a guide lobe 4.4 and 14.4, which is slightly kinked away outwardly and projects towards the adjoining upper guide rail 2, with a bevel 4.2 and 14.2, whilst two holes 4.5 and 14.5 fitting with the fastening holes 1.4 of the guide rail 1 are arranged in the second limb 4.3 and 14.3 respectively. Bevels 4.6 and 14.6 in the region of the holes 4.5 and 14.5 of the guide rail 4 and 14, respectively, serve to compensate for the inclination matched to the flange 1.3 of the guide rail o 9 1. The lefthand and the righthand bevel 4.2 and 14.2 of the guide strap 4 and 14 respectively serve as lateral centring during the assembly for the ,p adjoining upper guide rail 2. The lower end of the adjoining upper guide rail 2 is butted to the upper end of the lower guide rail 1 and firmly connected with this by screws 5, locking washers 8 and nuts 6.
:o The aforedescribed device for the connection of guide rails is siOb mounted during the factory assembly to the upper ends of the guide rails 1 installed in shaft modules. The shaft modules themselves in the normal case correspond approximately to the respective storey height. The retaining strap 3 drilled according to gauge and, according to the Figs. 1 to 3, the guide strap 4 are laid together over the flange 1.3 of the guide rai'i 1 at each mutually opposite guide rail for the cage and screwed together by the four screws 5, taper washers 7, locking washers 8 and nuts 6 provided in the example or, according to the Figs. 6 to 8, the retaining strap 3 is screwed together with the lefthand and the righthand guide strap 4 and 5 with the provided four screws 5, locking washers 8 and nuts 6. In that case, the bevel 3.1 and the lateral guide lobes 4.4 and 14.4 are arranged at the free projecting end of either the retaining strap 3 or the guide strap 4 and 14.

-6- In this manner, a first shaft module is inserted into a building and anchored and further shaft modules are placed from above onto the first.
The free ends of retaining straps 3 or the guide straps 4 and 14 centre themselves during the lowering of the upper shaft module in that the lower ends of the adjoining upper guide rails 2 are guided on the one hand by the lateral guide lobes 4.4 and 14.4 and on the other hand by the bevels 3.1 of the retaining straps 3 of two mutually opposite guide rails into the exact alignment of the lower guide rails 1. The groove 1.1, which is milled in at 0 0*'g the end face in the web 1.2 of the lower guide rails 1, serves together with ~1Z 10 the key 2.1 projecting at the end face at the adjoining upper guide rails 2 "as final exact centring of the guide rails 1 and 2 or as exact connection of the guide surfaces of the guide rails 1 and 2 abutting one against the 4 other, wherein the bevelled edges 1.5 or 2.5 provided on both longitudinal sides of the groove 1.1 and key 2.1 serve for the mutual better centring of o 15 the final position of the guide rails 1 and 2. Together with a connection 0 "of the shaft modules, the upper guide rails 2 are firmly connected with the retaining straps 3 or the guide straps 4 with the aid of the screws 5, the locking washers 8 and the nuts 6.
The aforedescribed guide rail connection according to the Figs. 1 to 3 displays two main parts for reasons of fabrication, a retaining strap 3 and a guide strap 4 laterally embracing the guide strap 3 and the flange of the guide rail 1 and 2. It would readily be possible to connect both the straps one with the other and to provide a single-part U-shaped strap with the needed guide bevels and flanges embracing the guide rails laterally.

Claims (7)

1. A connecting joint for two guide rails comprising a centring device which aligns the two guide rails to be connected with each other, characterised in that at the end of a first guide rail a connecting strap is located against three sides of said first guide rail, and bolted thereto, said connecting strap has at the end to be attached to the second guide rail bevelled sections at the rear and both sides directed towards the first guide rail to act as a centring device.
2. A connecting joint as claimed in Claim 1, whereby the connecting strap to be bolted onto the first guide rail adjoins said first guide rail on three sides, has a U-shape configuration and embraces the guide rails on both sides of a flange whereby both lateral bevels are arranged on both sides that embrace said flange of the guide rails.

A connecting joint as claimed in Claim 2, whereby the U-shaped connecting strap has a holding strap with a rear sided bevc'ling in which the U-shaped connection strap embraces the holding strap and the sides of the flanges of the guide rails and the lateral bevels formed by guide lobes which are separated from the rear section of the connecting strap and are bent slightly outward.

A connecting joint as claimed in Claim 1, whereby said connecting strap has a holding strap with a chamfered section adjoining the rear of flange of the guide rails and angular guide straps one on each side of the guide rails and guide lobe bent slightly outwards whereby one flange of the angular guide strap adjoins the web of the guide rails and the second flange has bolt holes and one is bolted on each inside of the flange of the guide rails to the holding strap with bolts.

A connecting joint as claimed in Claim 4, whereby the second flange of the angular guide strap in the area of the bolt holes has spot facing to compensate for the slope of the flange of the guide rails. 6. A connecting joint as claimed in any one of the proceeding claims wherein a final centring guide is utilised.
7. A connecting joint as claimed in claim 6 wherein said final centring guide is arranged at the end faces of said guide rails and consists of a groove and an associated key way.
