Claims (4)
1. A cement-forming composition for use in particular in prosthesis fixing and which comprises a reaction resin and a growth hormone, characterised by the incorporation of a cell growth stimulant selected from somatotrophins, somatedins, parathyroid hormone (PTH) and sex steroids in a physiologically reaction resin which, as a cured material, provides a delivery system for delivery of the coll growth stimulant over an extended period of time to a bone surface at which the prosthesis is to be secured.
2. A cement composition according to Claim 1, wherein the cell growth stimulant is a somatotrophin which is human growth hormone (hGH).
3. A cement composition according to Claim 1 or 2, which comprises a reaction resin in fluid, semi- liquid dough-like or mouldable form able to cure in situ at a temperature of from 30 to 45 0 C and at a 20 location at which a prosthesis is to be secured.
4. A cement composition according to Claim 2, or Claims 2 and 3 together which comprises a) a monomeric acrylic compound and b) a mixture of powdered polymethacrylate and human growth hormone such that there is provided a system for delivery of the human S.:i growth hormone over an extended period of time to a bone surface at which the prosthesis is to be secured.
