Abstract

The description relates to an electric tooth-cleaning device (1) in which a cleaning instrument (19) is coupled to a drive sleeve (11) and can be rotated about a longitudinal axis (4). According to the invention, the coupling is made using an elastic component, especially a spring (21), having a slipping clutch (27) and/or a buffer region (28). The slipping clutch (27) normally forms a firm rotary connection between the drive sleeve (11) and the cleaning instrument (19). If, however, the cleaning tool jams between two teeth, for instance, the slipping clutch (17) slips and prevents possible damage. The buffer region (28) ensures that the cleaning instrument (19) is not moved, although this is intended by the user, if it is placed, for example, on the surface of a tooth and not in an interdental space.
