Abstract

A process and device (24) for triggering a measurement process for evaluating the quality of audio and/or speech signals enable field measurements to be carried out to determine the quality of a digital transmission. During a first step, digital values of a reference signal underlying at least part of a test signal whose quality is to be evaluated are stored. Digital values of the test signals are also at least temporarily stored. The degree to which a section of the reference signal values coincides with the test signal values is determined to trigger the measurement process as soon as a predetermined degree of coincidence is exceeded, in order to compare a further section of the reference signal values to the test signal values in the relative position in time of the reference signal and test signal values at the moment when a predetermined degree of coincidence occurs.
