Abstract

A die cast article composed of titanium alloy is disclosed, and is preferably characterized by a transformed beta microstructure, a relatively fine average grain size and an absence of flow lines. Typical alloys include Ti 6Al-4V and Ti 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo. Exemplary articles include gas turbine engine components. The articles may be used in place of corresponding forged articles, and have at least comparable mechanical properties.
