Jose Antonio Oses Palacios Spruson Ferguson, Patent Attorneys Level 33 St Martins Tower, 31 Market Street Sydney, New South Wales, 2000, Australia Invention Title: Improved Pliable Seat The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us:- 5845 2 IMPROVED. PLI ABLE S.EAT D E S C R- I. P T I 0 N BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present specification refers to an application for a Model of Utility relating to an improved 'pliable seat, the obvious purpose of which is. to be configured as a seat element obtained starting from a structure formed by six parts joined each other, configuring a joint which is suitable to present three supporting points ,on a surface, on which it is adapted even :this being irregular, since it has only and exclusively three 15 attaching points on the surface, relying on two of the elements destined to act like supports for the back, S: while the other two ones, to which their are joined at the extremities, form the body support section, with the cooperation of a canvas fixed to the upper ends the- 20 reof, so covering the whole structure, the two remaining elements being intended for being used as the two front legs, which are attached to the front part of the structure constituting the improved pliable seat, being articulated each other and joined by one of the ends to the 25 parts constituting the seat back, while at the middle portion, they are joined adjacent to the two parts acting as a support for the body, optionally presenting a complementary part acting as a safety element impeding the joint to be closed, incorporated to the struture of pliable seat, and occupying a limited encumbrance when the structure in question, constituting the seat, is folded.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION 3 This invention will find application in the industry manufacturing seat elements, specially the industry destined to manufacture pliable seat elements.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The improved pliable seat as proposed by the invention, constitutes, per se, a great novelty within its application field, since it is configured like a seat having a simplified pliable structure, being capable of reducing its volume in a substantial way, occupying a limited space, being implemented with a upper covering 99 capable of being removed and placed again, made of canvas or any other similar material, on which the user S" 15 sits down, the seat allowing it to be placed on smooth or irregular land, having a great versatility with re- ''"gard to the ground, since it has, only and exclusively, three supporting legs.
20 In a more definite way, the improved pliable seat, which is the object of the present invention, is manufactured starting from four prismatic quadrangular bage se bodies, made of a stiff material, which are joined each other at one of their ends when attached to a rec- 25 tangular base surface constituted by a metallic mate- S"rial flange, which, in collaboration with conventional screws, holds the four elements joined in a common zone.
The two remaining elements constituting the structure, presenting a rectangular base configuration, will act as supporting points, and will facilitate both the articulation and opening, as well as the unfolding of the structure constituting the seat, having, et the next joining portion, a markedly thickness less than 4 the main portion of both, and presenting portions of a thickness which is greater, with regard to the portions located at the opposed stretches.
These two parts are laterally joined to two emerging parte at the front portion of the union link, the union parts allowing them to act like retaining and turning shafts, in collaboration with two ferrules or tips of a similar material which are fastened on the elements wherein they articulate, in order to stiffen this portion, which, subsequently, when the user sits down on the .seat, will support a greater effort.
The opposed ends of these parts are joined to the 15 two remaining parts by means of a part that like- a clamp is fixed at one of its ends, and the opposed one, and" ad-embracing said elements:is fixed to the side of the remaining end, by means of metallic flanges, -or of similar material, to.which the ends of the clamp are fi- 20. xed, .arising from the side parts.
The two parts on which the clamp of double stretches slides, present. at determined points, two flat flanges acting like sliding stops for the clamp, impeding a greater mobility of this part on its perimeter, genera- S. ting a retaining point impeding a greater opening of the structure.
The two elements are articulated between them by means of a vertically located pin generating a folding point, separation and mobilization, according to the separation required from the stretches on which they slides.
The two mentioned elements have, at the union por- 5 tion, corresponding prismatic bodies, having a recess which allows them to be suitably adjusted, without being forced, in the unfolding position.
After stretching out the seat, a flexible material part, such as a piece of canvas, which will act like attaching portion for the user's body, will be incorporated.
The invention is qualified to provide a safety part to be incorporated in points of the structure, so impeding un unintentional unfolding.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In order to complement this description and aid to a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, the appending drawings, which are a part of this specification, show, by way of illustrative and 20 non-limiting example, the following figures: *e Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the structure of the improved pliable seat of the invention, duly folded, as well as a perspective view of the safety 25 element.
Figure 2 corresponds to a perspective view of the structure of the pliable seat, when starting to be unfolded.
Figure 3 shows a perspectiv..view through the opposite side of the object illustrated in figure 2.
Figure 4 corresponds to a detail of the union portion by means of clamps, of the sliding elements.
6 Figure 5 shows a perspective view fully unfolded of the seat structure.
Figure 6 corresponds, lastly, to a view of the seat ready to be used.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION In view of these figures, on can see that the improved pliable seat is constituted starting from four prismatic bodies of a stiff material having identical length and thickness and which are joined each other at one of their ends -on a flange The, other two remaining bodies constituting the struc- ev ture are formed by two stretches and having a rectangular base of a material which is similar to that used for configuring the remaining of the elements, pre- 20 senting a rectangular base configuration, having a substantial reduction of width in order to facilitating the shape of an articulation reinforced with a union link (10) acting, at the same time, like a shaft to facilitate the separation of the ends of both double stretches.
The stretches and are joined at the ends with the elements and using a flange fastened to the outer faces of the stretches and a clamp (12) emerging from said flange, which is retained at the back portion of the stretches and by means of fixing parts which, acting like flanges, stiffen the union requested from the clamp (12).
In order to avoid an excessive sliding of the stretches and on the elements and these 7 are provided, on a determinate point on their surface, with two flanges (11) and impeding the clamp (12) to pass, allowing the full opening to be in a fixed position in the structure constituting the seat.
It should be pointed out that the stretches and have, in their contact portion with the stretches and respectively, a recess which allows a perfect fit, and of course non-tight, of the parts in question when the invention is in an unfolded position.
The stretches and are fixed thru conventio- 9* *9 Snal means acting like union links and allowing them to turn, to the stretches and and it must 15 be specifically indicated that the shaft (14) is centered on a strip and can be, at option, fitted with braces (13) and which are not of an essential aplication.
After the total opening of the structure on the elements and and thru their upper free ends, a canvas or similar (30) will be inserted, as shown in figure 6.
The invention is implemented with a safety part shown in figure 1, which will be inserted into the seat articulation in order to avoid an unintentional closing of this structure.
In short, the invention presents a support point delimited by the union formed on the flange the outer ends .of the parts and being used like other two supporting points.
The upper portion of the elements and will 8 constitute a retaining zone for the canvas (30) with regard to the seat back, while the ends of the elements and not fixed to the flange will act-like retaining elements for the canvas (30) thru the area where the user sits down, in collaboration with the stretches and duly interlaced and retained by point It is not considered necessary to extend this description for an expert in the art to undetsrand the scope of the invention and the advantages derived from it.
SThe materials, shape, size and arrangement of the 15 elements will be open to variation, provided that it does not imply any alteration to the essence of the invention.
The terms under which this specification has been 20 described should be always taken in an ample and nonlimitative sense.
