Abstract

The device comprises a tape (18) that is mounted on a winder, having a coder and means of conversion that output a numerical value corresponding to the length of the strip that exits. At least one validation control (34, 36) that can be actuated by an operator when the operator takes out a length of tape corresponding to the measurement of the desired perimeter is also provided in addition to storage means and processing means for the digital value once said value has been confirmed. The storage and processing means can include means that automatically calculates the size of an orthesis that is to be prescribed, for example, with storage of a table of at least one size range of an orthesis model and automatic selection means in said table of at least one optimum size/model couple according to the measurements thus recorded and stored.
