Abstract
In a method for facilitating ticket purchases, a mobile phone application is employed and
installed on mobile devices owned by designated responsible individuals. The individuals
have the capability to choose and include tickets in a shopping cart associated with a
ticketing platform. Subsequently, payment is processed through an iPhone using Apple Tap
to Pay, obviating the necessity for supplementary payment infrastructure for digital wallets or
physical bank cards.
Description
The present invention eliminates the necessity of procuring or leasing payment terminals by leveraging the Tap to Pay on iPhone payment functionality for processing payments in the context of ticket purchases via the mobile application. Consequently, event organizers and venue operators are relieved of the financial burden associated with the acquisition or rental of payment terminals when selling event tickets on-site.
Figure 1 shows the end customer who wishes to pay to enter the event tapping their card onto the iPhone to buy a ticket.
Figure 2 shows the end customer who wishes to pay to enter the event tapping their digital wallet onto the iPhone to buy a ticket.
Embodiments of the present invention disclose innovative techniques and systems for simplifying ticket sales at event venues by eliminating the need to purchase or hire payment terminals, thereby significantly reducing costs and improving the efficiency of the ticketing process. The invention leverages the Apple Tap to Pay feature on iPhones to enable secure and convenient payment processing directly within a dedicated mobile application.
1. System Components In one embodiment, the system comprises the following key components: 1.1. Mobile Application: A specialized mobile application is developed and made available for download on iOS devices, particularly iPhones. This application serves as the primary interface for ticket sales, enabling event organizers and venue operators to manage ticket inventory, pricing, and customer transactions. 1.2. Ticketing Platform Integration: The mobile application is seamlessly integrated with a ticketing platform. This integration allows for real-time synchronization of ticket availability, pricing updates, and transaction records between the mobile app and the ticketing platform.
1.3. Apple Tap to Pay: The core innovation of this invention is the utilization of Apple's Tap to Pay functionality. It allows customers to make secure payments for tickets directly through the mobile application using their iPhone's built-in NFC capabilities and linked payment methods (e.g., credit cards, Apple Pay). 2. Ticket Purchase Process The invention offers a straightforward and user-friendly ticket purchase process: 2.1. Ticket Selection: Users select the desired tickets within the mobile application. The selected tickets are added to a virtual shopping cart. 2.2. Payment Process: When users are ready to complete their purchase, they initiate the payment process within the application. The Apple Tap to Pay feature is activated, enabling users to simply tap their iPhone on a designated payment point, such as a contactless reader. 2.3. Transaction Confirmation: Upon successful payment authorization, users receive instant confirmation of their ticket purchase within the application. Simultaneously, the ticketing platform is updated with the transaction details. 3. Advantages and Benefits Embodiments of the invention offer several notable advantages and benefits: 3.1. Cost Savings: Event organizers and venue operators no longer need to invest in expensive payment terminals, EFTPOS systems, or other hardware devices for on site ticket sales. This eliminates the associated costs of terminal acquisition, maintenance, and rental. 3.2. Streamlined Operations: The integration of Apple Tap to Pay simplifies the ticketing process by reducing the number of steps involved. This streamlining leads to faster transaction processing and shorter queues at the event venue, enhancing the overall customer experience. 3.3. Enhanced Security: Apple's Tap to Pay feature ensures secure and encrypted payment transactions, reducing the risk of fraud or data breaches during ticket sales. 3.4. Accessibility: The invention caters to a broad user base as it leverages widely adopted iPhone technology, making it accessible to a large portion of event organisers. 4. Conclusion Embodiments of the invention described herein provide an innovative solution for revolutionizing the ticket sales process at event venues. By harnessing the capabilities of Apple's Tap to Pay oniPhones, this system reduces costs, simplifies operations, enhances security, and improves accessibility, ultimately benefiting both event organizers and customers. This approach represents a significant advancement in the field of ticketing and payment processing.
