Description

Card-free payment method and system using two-dimensional code
Technical Field
The invention belongs to the field of card-free payment transaction, and particularly relates to a system for card-free payment by showing a two-dimensional code to a merchant bank collector by taking a consumer as a guide.
Background
In a conventional point-of-sale electronic credit card transaction, the transaction is not authorized until and transaction information is retained. During the authorization phase, authorization is provided by swiping a physical credit card having a magnetic stripe through the merchant's magnetic stripe card reader, which is also part of the point of sale device. The magnetic stripe card reader sends an electronic payment request to the credit card processor. The credit card processor sends payment requests to a bank card network, such as a VISA (VISA) or Mastercard (MASTER) hub, and sends these requests to the card issuer, such as a bank. Assuming that the card issuer approves the transaction, an approval transaction signal is sent to the merchant. Some of these transactions may also involve other payment networks or providers. If this is the case, the cardholder is required to swipe the card multiple times.
Furthermore, a number of known systems have begun to apply cardless payments. More and more consumers are using portable electronic devices, including mobile devices. There are an increasing number of payment systems that can authorize transactions and provide passwords through mobile devices, and portable electronic devices can also store consumer payment information. The way in which the mobile device transmits information to the merchant cash register includes, but is not limited to, scanning a consumer two-dimensional code, the merchant cash register receiving an RFID signal or an NFC signal.
Another common shopping payment technique is online shopping, such as browsing a merchant's website using a web browser. If the consumer is in the store, the consumer should not pay in the form of shopping online.
Therefore, in order to enable a merchant to collect payment from a customer in his/her store, a conventional physical p.o.s. cashier system or a mobile electronic device equipped with a mobile phone APP and having a POS system function is required. As the demand for cardless payment functions continues to increase, merchants' cash registers become increasingly bulky and the cost of installing POS system equipment continues to rise. While cardless payments are increasingly being implemented, physical cash registers are becoming more and more complex.
Therefore, there is a strong need for an invisible or virtual cash register. The cash register does not occupy the physical space of a merchant, and card-free transaction can be realized without a physical POS system or a mobile electronic device.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention relates to a method and a system for realizing card-free payment for merchants without placing a physical cash register in a shop. The invention includes 1) static, printable merchant account two-dimensional code, which merchant can easily copy. 2) A graphical user interface that allows a customer to pay a merchant, the customer may scan a static two-dimensional code or electronic code, etc. 3) The system described in item two allows a consumer to make payments at a physical merchant store or remotely through a web-merchant portal. 4) A set of system which can enable a merchant to verify whether the payment behavior on the mobile phone of the consumer is correct can be confirmed only by inputting a password in the mobile phone of the consumer, and the merchant does not need to be configured with additional equipment. 5) After the merchant verifies payment, the mobile electronic equipment receives the confirmation information and sends the confirmation information to the payer for authorization. 6) In the payment verification system, a merchant can check whether the payment of a consumer is finished or not through the notification information on the mobile phone of the consumer. 7) The payment verification system may store transaction information to a third party server, which the merchant may obtain by registering with the merchant user and logging in. And registering the account by using the mailbox.

In summary, the system disclosed by the invention can enable merchants to realize cardless payment in a two-dimensional code scanning mode without configuring physical cash registers in the stores. With the system and the user interface disclosed by the invention, the cardless payment is realized, the high cost of configuring the related cash register equipment by a merchant is greatly reduced, and the space of a shop front occupied by the equipment is also reduced. Sometimes, a consumer or a consumer in a physical storefront may effect a cardless payment by scanning a two-dimensional payment order containing a merchant account. In addition, the printed account two-dimensional code can be placed in multiple places in the merchant store, so that different consumers can pay at the same time. With conventional POS systems, the number of cash registers limits the speed of payment when multiple customers require payment or have a large number of payment orders. In this case, if the merchant wants to service more customers, the merchant must purchase more POS or computer devices, which takes up more space. However, if a printable two-dimensional code is used, the consumer can make a virtual payment at any location where the merchant two-dimensional code is available. The merchant can also process a plurality of payment activities simultaneously, and the added cash register equipment is only a plurality of printed two-dimensional codes.
If a merchant account is created by a third party, the merchant may need to provide information about its business, such as the merchant's address, mailbox, phone number, bank account, etc. A third party (e.g., a mobile application developer) may use this information to establish a merchant account, in which case the third party may pay the merchant by direct deposit or by a payment processor such as Dwolla. Such merchant accounts may also authorize third parties.
There is also a case where the consumer needs to initiate a cardless payment in the vicinity of a device capable of transmitting RDID and NFC signals. In addition, there is a consumer who obtains a merchant account label or account number for payment. While most merchants are currently using physical cash registers and POS systems, the consumer's code is scanned to complete the payment activity, for example, using an iPad or cell phone device. After the system disclosed by the invention is used, merchants can realize card-free payment without configuring the equipment, and the mobile phone of each consumer can be used as a verification cash register of the merchants.
With these functions, after the consumer issues a payment application to the merchant, the merchant or the consumer can input the amount due to the corresponding order. The merchant may derive the total order amount from a conventional pen and paper calculation, a computer, or a conventional POS system. After the consumer or the merchant inputs the corresponding amount of the order on the mobile phone of the consumer, the mobile phone is connected with the third-party server, and the merchant must input a merchant verification code to indicate that the amount is agreed and the settlement is passed.
With these functions, the consumer can pay a tip in addition to the order amount using the user interface on the cell phone. Moreover, the mobile phone of the consumer can automatically calculate the tax according to the region where the merchant is located.
The merchant entering the merchant confirmation code means that the merchant agrees to the amount of payment initiated by the consumer, which of course is agreed to by both parties. The merchant code needs to be consistent with the merchant code of the third party system, and the transaction is authorized after the input merchant code is successfully matched with the code in the third party database. If the code input by the merchant is not in accordance with the code of the third party system, the transaction will not be authorized, the consumer's mobile phone will receive the reminder, and then the merchant is required to re-input the correct code. In some cases, the merchant code may be a fingerprint of an employee or store owner, in which case the transaction may also be authorized. Sometimes a merchant may trust a consumer instead of entering a merchant code and using a confirmation page to verify the consumer's payment terms. The merchant can confirm whether the transaction is completed through the received mail alert.

Example 3
A cardless payment method using two-dimensional codes includes the following steps:
1) the user equipment scans the two-dimensional code of the merchant and enters a dish ordering page;
2) sending the determined order menu to a mail box of a merchant portable mobile device, a computer or a self-service machine;
3) prompting, by the payment service system, on the user device: whether payment of a specific amount due is agreed or not is carried out, and the payment service system comprises a mobile phone application server and/or a security server;

The payment service system automatically recognizes and inputs bank account information by photographing, or recognizes and manually selects a bank card bound on mobile equipment, other websites or applications.
The merchant two-dimensional code is associated with a merchant bank account. The merchant two-dimensional code is generated by the payment service system before transaction.
The payment service system is respectively connected with the payment port, the payment processor and the merchant bank account. The payment port stores a credit card number or a debit card number. The payment service system is connected with the user equipment through the Internet.
In summary, the system disclosed in the present application enables a user to purchase physical goods in a merchant store, and a consumer can conduct a transaction using cardless payment even if the merchant store does not have a physical cash register. A user may use a financial account to conduct transactions in a cardless payment transaction without providing a physical payment card to a merchant. The intangible cash register at the merchant point of sale need not be physically located within the merchant store, but the merchant can be alerted that each consumer makes a secure payment within the store.
From the user's perspective, the user first registers an account with a cardless payment system. The registration process requires the provision of specific information, such as a financial account sufficient to complete a payment transaction, and if a credit card account is provided, credit card information, such as a credit card number and expiration date. But if the user wants to redeem the gift given by the friend, there is no need to input specific payment information. However, if the end user desires, other payment methods may be recommended to the user, such as debit cards, pre-paid cards, bank accounts, or other third party financial accounts. The registration process may require contact information for the user, such as address or mailbox and other identity information.
Similarly, from the merchant's perspective, the merchant first needs to register an account for cardless payment. The registration process also requires specific merchant information such as the merchant's address, mailbox, merchant type, name, phone number and financial account on which direct deposits can be made, sometimes as a voided check or a third party account on which direct deposits can be made by sending mail. After the merchant account is established, the cardless payment system (we or the Dollop company) may create a Dollop account two-dimensional code of the merchant and also create a merchant verification code or stamp.
And returning to the user layer, and after establishing the account, scanning the Dollop two-dimensional code in the shop of the merchant by the user. After scanning, the mobile phone of the user can be prompted to display the amount of money to be paid. They may enter the corresponding payment amount and then press confirmation. After the user verifies the amount of money paid by the user, the mobile phone application prompts the merchant to input a verification code to verify payment. The merchant needs to check whether the user has entered the correct amount due and then enter a verification code to confirm the payment. The server can complete payment according to the financial information of the user, and directly charge the amount due to the financial account of the user without presenting a physical payment card, wherein the amount is agreed by the merchant. After the transaction is completed, both the user and the merchant will receive the receipt and the mobile application will display a payment confirmation on the user's mobile phone. The user may immediately show the merchant that money has been paid. If not, the user may ask the merchant to enter the verification PIN code again. Thus, cardless payment may be achieved within a merchant store without the need for a physical merchant cash register.
Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a cardless payment system without a physical merchant cash register. The whole system comprises the user equipment 100, the Internet 104 and the merchant two-dimensional code 102 (without connecting with the Internet or a POS system). The merchant two-dimensional code 102 can be easily copied and displayed at multiple locations in a merchant store to assist a user in conducting transactions without the need for connecting to the internet or a POS system to handle cardless payments. The user's device 100 is a mobile computer device, such as a handheld computer device or a portable electronic device that may be installed with a mobile phone application, and may also be a smart phone or tablet computer. The merchant two-dimensional code 102 is not a computer device but needs to be connected to a merchant account having a cardless payment processor. This would eliminate physical devices and even wireless networks and enable all consumers using smart phones to effect cardless payments in all stores.
The cardless payment processor operator runs the cardless payment system. The user device 100 and the merchant two-dimensional code 102 representing the merchant bank account 118 may communicate with the payment services system 108 using the internet 104. The payment service system 108 includes a cell phone application server 110 and a security server 112 that can process all transactions between all user devices 100 and merchant bank accounts 118. The merchant bank account 118 is associated with the merchant two-dimensional code 102. Generally, the handset application server 110 is capable of handling non-secure information, e.g., it may store public information of the merchant, e.g., the merchant's address or phone number. The handset application server 110 is also responsible for transferring or updating user applications for the user's handset devices. In particular, the cell phone application server 112 is responsible for pushing information to the user about merchants that are equipped with the payment service system 108. The security server 112 can process security information such as credit card numbers, debit card numbers, bank accounts, user identity information, or other sensitive information. There may be another case where the secure server does not store a specific credit card number, but may store payment information through the third party payment port 106, such that the user information fragment is stored in the payment port 106, such as auth. Sensitive information would not be stored on our cardless payment system 108, but would be stored on the facilitator of the payment port 106.
The payment service system 108 may be in electronic communication with the payment processor 116, such as: paypal, Dwolla, and the like. This allows payment to be deposited directly into the merchant bank account 118, and the merchant bank account 118 is also associated with the payment service system 108. Reconciliation information for the payment service system 108 and the merchant bank account 118 is displayed on the secure server 112, and the secure server 112 can maintain the merchant account number 114 and the user account 114.
Before the user and the merchant conduct a transaction using the cardless payment system, the user must establish a user account at the payment service system 108, and the merchant must also establish a merchant account at the payment service system 108.
The user may register the user account using a cell phone application or website, or may use a mobile device or other computer device, such as a computer at home. Before the transaction, the user application is downloaded to the user device 100, for example in an application store. The user account may also be created by a user application or other application, such as a general web browser. The user needs to enter a name, account password, and contact details, such as a mailbox address. Before the transaction, the user also needs to input financial account information that enables connection to the payment service system 108. The financial account information may include the user's credit card line, credit card number, expiration date, and possibly the credit card security Code (CVV) and communication address.
Alternatively, the mobile phone application may be used to tap information from the user's credit card to obtain reliable payment source information, which may simplify the process of inputting the user's financial information into the payment service system 108. Alternatively, the user may enter financial account information on the mobile device, selecting a bound card on the mobile device, other website, or application.
The merchant may register with the merchant account using any mobile device, such as a home computer or other than a storefront, or an in-store mobile device or computer system. The merchant must enter a name, account password, and contact information, such as a mailbox address, brick and mortar store information, storefront address, etc., into the payment service system 108. The merchant may also input other information into the payment service system 108, such as a list of available services or goods, time of operation, cell phone number, mini-brand or logo, and the like. Data associated with the merchant account 114 may be stored in a secure server 112, such as a database.
Prior to the transaction, the payment services system 108 generates a merchant two-dimensional code 102 that includes merchant account information, including information that has been established and directly deposited into the merchant bank account 118. The printed merchant two-dimensional code 102 must be placed in a merchant store for display. The merchant account may also be created by registering with a merchant application or web browser. Finally, in order to receive the money of the transaction, the merchant needs to input the financial account information capable of receiving the money to the payment service system. For example, if a bank account is used, the user may enter a bank account number and a bank code. Nonetheless, the merchant's financial account may also be associated with a credit card account or other third party financial account, such as Dwolla and Paypal. In addition, in some cases, if the merchant does not enter financial account information, the payment service system 108 may retain funds until the merchant provides bank account information.
Fig. 2 is a sample flow diagram of a cardless payment system. The process of the cardless payment system process includes the user's mobile device 100, application server 110, and/or security server 112, associating with the merchant two-dimensional code 102. The payment service system may be configured to send and receive a communication record between the user device 100 and the merchant two-dimensional code 102. The payment service system includes an application server 110 and/or a security server 112. The communication between the servers may be encrypted using the security protocols of the user device, the server system, and the merchant account or merchant device. In some cases, the process may be performed by an application installed on the user mobile device and the merchant mobile device.
Typically, the user device scans the merchant two-dimensional code 102 within the merchant store (step 200). After verifying the established account number of the merchant, the payment service system, including the application server 110 and/or the security server 112, pops up information on the user device: please enter the total amount due to merchant a (step 204). After the merchant obtains the amount due for the customer's order, the amount is verbally notified to the customer (step 202). The user then enters the order amount on the mobile device 100 (step 206). The payment service system pops up a merchant verification code input indication on the user equipment, and the merchant can input the verification code to the user mobile equipment. The merchant owner or employee enters the user device 100 after confirming the amount entered by the user and then enters the PIN code into the user device (step 210). If the merchant enters the PIN code into the user device 100 and successfully matches the merchant PIN code previously set between the cardless payment system 108 and the merchant, the payment services system can successfully process the transaction (step 214). When the cardless transaction between the user and the merchant is successfully processed, the payment service system displays a receipt on the user device, so that the merchant can detect that the order payment is successful, and the completed cardless transaction can generate an email receipt for the merchant and the user. If the inputted merchant PIN is not consistent with the merchant PIN stored in the payment service system, the payment service system displays information on the user mobile equipment. Such as "please enter the correct merchant verification code" (step 222). If the transaction fails due to exceeding the credit card limit or insufficient balance in the financial account, the payment service system notifies the user on the user device and prompts that the transaction is unsuccessful. The merchant may also offer the consumer to change a payment method.
In some cases, the gift-giver may pay money for the gift-receiver through the card-less payment system. In this case, the gift giver may set a maximum limit, such as a gift of up to $ 6. The gift recipient will receive the gift by mail or short message on his mobile device immediately and will also start the mobile phone client. The gift recipient may redeem the gift by scanning the two-dimensional code of any merchant account with or without the card payment service and entering the price of the order due. The server system may require the merchant to enter the merchant PIN after confirming the amount of the order entered by the gift recipient. And if the PIN code of the merchant is consistent with the two-dimensional code scanned by the user, the transaction is passed. The gift giver, the gift recipient, and the merchant all receive electronic receipts from short messages, emails, or mobile phone clients.
In another case, if the mobile phone of the gift recipient does not have the mobile phone application, the gift link sent by the gift recipient to the gift recipient jumps to the web browser, and the gift link is required to upload the photo of the merchant two-dimensional code. After the two-dimensional code photo is uploaded to the cardless payment server, the gift receiver is prompted to show the amount of the gift that can be redeemed in the merchant (step 206), as shown in fig. 2. The server prompts the merchant to enter a merchant verification code (step 208), as shown in fig. 2. The merchant or employee may enter the verification PIN code into the user device after verifying the payment amount, or may sometimes provide the PIN code verbally based on the transaction amount (step 210). The server system confirms that the merchant two-dimensional code matches the uploaded merchant two-dimensional code through the merchant code, and the server processes the transaction and sends a receipt to the merchant, gift giver, and gift recipient's devices. Alternatively, if the gift given by the gift giver needs to be exchanged by a specific merchant, the gift giver is prompted to indicate that the gift can be exchanged only in a specific place, and the merchant two-dimensional code needs to be uploaded to the server system. The gift receiver only reflects the amount of money to be paid to the merchant in the order, and the mobile phone application can also remind the merchant to input the PIN code to be compared with the merchant two-dimensional code uploaded to the server system. If the PIN codes match, the transaction is conducted and the gift giver, gift recipient, and merchant all obtain a receipt. If the transaction is successful, the gift recipient's device will also display a reminder indicating that the transaction has passed. The merchant owner or employee may use the reminder as a credential to confirm that the transaction has been completed.
On the other hand, the merchant may place the two-dimensional code for the merchant account on a different table within the store. The two-dimensional code not only represents a merchant account, but also the table number information in the store. Although the ordering system on the iPad already defines the number of the table in the merchant store, the initial cost of the ordering system is high, and the maintenance cost is not low. The system disclosed below allows the merchant's customers to order and pay for a particular table number without significant hardware investment. The customer may log into their user device 100 and scan the table number where the merchant two-dimensional code is already located. In this case, the user may order from the menu of the merchant, and only need to add the menu to the user device 100. The merchant then receives an electronic order reminder via a short message, mailbox, or merchant portable mobile device (e.g., pager, telephone, tablet), computer, kiosk, or the like. The merchant will see the order, prepare the order, and charge the user according to the amount of the order. These require that the merchant must connect to a wireless network or mobile data.
As for the user equipment, once the user agrees to the amount to be paid for the order displayed on the mobile phone application, the bound financial account is immediately deducted by the corresponding amount. On the one hand, it may be a pop-up reminder confirmation on the device that the word "do or not pay for an order for $ X amount? "Once the confirmation key is pressed, the transaction is confirmed to pass, and the corresponding amount is directly charged to the credit card of the user. If the order price exceeds the credit limit, the transaction is rejected and if the order price does not exceed the credit limit, the transaction is successfully conducted. After the transaction is successful, the merchant and the user receive a receipt through a mail, a short message or a prompt on a mobile phone application. After the user successfully pays the order, the equipment of the merchant displays that the order is successfully paid and stores order information into a database, and the merchant can check the order in the future and check account.
If the giftor gives the giftor a gift to be exchanged, the giftor may pay the giftor a gift fee and send the gift using a cardless payment system. The gift receiver can redeem the gift by scanning a specific merchant two-dimensional code mode and place an order in a merchant store. The order amount needs to be less than the donation amount. For example, if the limit given to the gift recipient by the gift recipient is $ 6 redeemable for a gift, the gift recipient may select an item whose order is less than the limit, and the merchant may charge the order on the user device of the gift recipient. If the order is below $ 6, the transaction passes and the server receives the amount of the gift giver's credit card's corresponding merchant bill. After the server completes the operation process through the payment port, the authorization transaction is successful. The merchant will also prepare the order by table number and bring the order to the customer or gift recipient without charging the gift recipient's account.
Alternatively, if the gift recipient's order exceeds the 6 dollar gift limit set by the gift recipient, the merchant will charge the remaining amount to the gift recipient's account through the cardless payment service. For example, if the gift recipient's order amount is $ 7, then the gift recipient's $ 6 gift limit is available on the gift recipient's device, but a pop-up message is applied indicating that $ 1 still needs to be replenished, and the gift recipient is prompted whether or not to pay for the remainder of the money on his or her own account. Once the remaining payment is confirmed with the own account, our server will charge the gift-giver's card for $ 1 and complete the transaction if the credit card amount is sufficient to pay. The gift giver may be notified that the gift he presents has been successfully redeemed. The gift recipient will also receive a notification that the associated amount has been paid with his card and the merchant will receive a reminder to pay the total amount.
Alternatively, if the gift recipient's order is below the $ 6 limit, the transaction passes (e.g., $ 5.35), and the remaining funds in the limit are returned to the gift recipient's cardless payment system user account. The gift giver can use the accumulated amount or the accumulated points of the account of any merchant with or without the card payment system account to pay the own fee at a later date.
The above examples are intended to illustrate the present invention, not to limit the scope of the present invention, and all simple modifications made without departing from the spirit and principle of the present invention are within the scope of the present invention.
