Abstract

An air distribution system designed to provide efficient air conditioning to large spaces, for example warehouse-type retail stores, comprising a plenum comprising drum louvres radially spaced in equal increments for supplying air horizontally and a return air grille at the bottom. The drum louvres have directional vanes which can vary the throw direction both horizontally and vertically. Technical Field: Air Distribution (Air Conditioning)
Background: For decades air distribution has been sufficiently designed to suit the building envelope and meet the minimum comfort requirements of people's needs. Until now no-one has challenged the traditional thinking of air distribution. The industry has stagnated and neglected to adopt modern technology to advance air distribution. The requirement for large warehouse type retail stores has challenged thinking and The Skywarp Mark 2 Plenum has adapted to develop a more functional and modern system to better meet client's needs.
Complicated ductwork has slowed down installations and blown out costs, and the inefficiencies it introduces into the system results in increased operational expenses as electricity costs increase over time. Whilst the industry has seen some modest advancement in the equipment used for air distribution systems no-one has looked to bring the complete system into the 21st century, that is until now. The Skywarp Mark 2 Plenum has re-designed air distribution.
Summary of Invention: Large Space Air Conditioning System
The Skywarp Mark 2 Plenum is a 'purpose designed' air distribution system designed for large space air conditioning. The Plenum components are specifically selected and configured to distribute air over large areas. The Skywarp Mark 2 Plenum design utilizes 8 x Drum Louvres radially spaced in equal increments for supplying air horizontally and a custom Return Air Grille at the bottom of the Discharge Cylinder.
The Skywarp Mark 2 Plenum has an octagonal mid section and has Drum Louvres mounted in each of the eight faces. The Drum Louvres have directional vanes which can vary the throw direction in both the horizontal and vertical directions.
The Plenum has a single Return Air grille on the bottom face.
The Skywarp Mark 2 Plenum CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations have shown that the designed air distribution plenums create superior air mixing resulting in more even temperature distribution across occupied zones.
