Abstract

A protective cover for the neckline of a garment that is used during dressing and/or undressing. It is comprised of a reusable clothing like fabric or a disposable material that is folded over the front neckline of the garment and is secured into place. GARMENT NECKLINE PROTECTOR FOR DONNING AND DOFFING

[0001] This innovative invention relates to the clothing and fashion industry, and in particular the protection of a garment neckline during its application or removal.

Background

[0002] Other neckline protectors are not designed to be fastened into place while dressing and/or undressing but rather to cover a collar in storage while the garment is unworn or tucked into the neckline as a cape once the garment has already been applied.

Summary

[0003] A problem several people face is to don or doff a piece of clothing over one's head, only to find out a mark has transferred onto the outer or inner neckline of the garment, generally from substances on the user's face or neck. This can make the garment aesthetically unpleasing and sometimes unwearable until washed.

[0004] Similarly clothing stores run into the issue where their customers may leave stains or marks on the neckline of their stock after trying the garment on. This can result in a decrease in value of the product unless professionally cleaned.

[0005] The present invention would be advantageous in that it would create a protective cover over the front of the garment neckline, preventing any potential exposure to these substances.

Description of Embodiments

[0010] For example, after applying makeup, one might want to get dressed for the day or go shopping and try on multiple outfits where they would be placing a garment over their head. In these scenarios our invention would prevent their makeup from marking the said garment.

[0011] The purpose of this invention is to create a protective barrier over the neckline of the piece of clothing during donning and/or doffing. This will stop the neckline from absorbing any marks or substances, such as makeup, while passing the user's head.

[0012] This invention comprises of a piece of material that is folded over the top front portion of a garment neckline and fastened into place. The material will cover enough of the inside and outside of the anterior portion of the garment's neckline to provide protection. Thus, creating a covering between the inside of the garment and the front of the user's neck, and the outside of the garment neckline and the users surroundings. It is then fastened into place to avoid any movement of the protector while the garment is both applied and/or removed.

[0013] This invention could be created to be disposable or reusable, depending on the materials used. It ideally should be made up of a mouldable clothing like fabric or other material that can take the shape of the garment's neckline. It could be used in both a domestic and commercial environment.

[0014] The protector is designed to be fastened onto the neckline of the garment by using devices such as but not limited to clips, magnets, or adhesive tape. This holds the neckline protector securely in place for the activity of dressing and/or undressing.

1. The invention claimed is a garment neckline protector that is used while dressing and/or undressing.

2. A garment neckline protector as recited in claim 1, that is curved in shape and comprises of a clothing like fabric or disposable material that can easily mould onto the neckline of the garment.

3. A garment neckline protector as recited in claim 2, that is folded over the front neckline of the garment and secured into place using devices such as but not limited to clips, magnets, or adhesive tape.
