Field of the Invention
[0001]This invention relates generally to an improved swim parka and, more particularly, to a swim parka which can be configured to use as a change robe for concealed changing of swim garments therein.
Summary of the Disclosure
[0002] There is provided herein and improved swim/deck parka which is configurable to be usable as a change robe for concealed changing of swim garments therein.
[0003] The parka comprises vertically running side seam fasteners, which may be zip fasteners, which are openable to widen the parka to allow space to pull one's arms inside the parka to remove wet bathers, wetsuits and the like. The side seam fasteners comprise concealment fabric therebehind which conceal the body when the side seam zip fasteners are open. The side seam zip fasteners may be closed to streamline the parka to a fitted shape.
[0004] The side seam fasteners may transition under arm and run along each sleeve, typically beyond halfway an upper arm portion thereof and preferably substantially to the elbows. As such, the elbows may be easily brought through the side seam fasteners whilst open.
[0005] The parka may comprise an interior pocket through which the parka may be inverted to form a compact carry bag.
[0006] Other aspects of the invention are also disclosed.
Brief Description of the Drawings
[0007] Notwithstanding any other forms which may fall within the scope of the present invention, preferred embodiments of the disclosure will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

Description of Embodiments
[0014] An improved swim parka 100 defines a neck opening 101 and having a length
extending over the thighs. The parka 100 may extend to just above the knees
according to the preferred embodiment shown.
[0015]The parka 100 comprises sleeves 102 which are preferably long sleeves
running to each wrist. Each long sleeve 102 may comprise a cuff 103 which may be
tightened. The cuff 103 may comprise a VelcroTM strap 104 which may be tightened
around the cuff 103.
[0016] The parka 100 comprises vertically running side seam fasteners 105. In the
manner shown in Figure 2, the side seam fasteners 105 are openable to widen the
parka 100 to allow space for the arms therein in the manner shown in Figure 3 for
changing of swim garments such as swimsuits, wetsuits therein. The parka 100
comprises concealment fabric 106 behind the side seam fasteners 105 spanning
between adjacent edges thereof which conceal the body from view when the side
seam fasteners 105 are open.
[0017] When the side seam fasteners 105 are closed in the manner shown in Figure
1, the parka 100 is more narrow for mote fitted wearing as a coat.
[0018] In a preferred embodiment, the side seam fasteners 105 are zip fasteners
having sliders 107.
[0019] The side seam zip fasteners 105 preferably run right to a lower edge 108 of
the parka 100 such that the lower edge 108 widens when the side seam zip fasteners
105 are open.

[0020] Each side seam zip 105 may run under arm across a length of each respective
long sleeve 102.
[0021] Each side seam zip 105 preferably runs beyond halfway an upper arm portion
of each long sleeve 102. Each side seams 105 may run to substantially at or beyond
an elbow of each long sleeve 102 such that the elbow can be brought in through the
side seam zip 105 into the interior of the parka 100 for changing.
[0022] Further preferably, the concealment material 106 runs under arm along each
long sleeve 102 such that the elbow is concealed when being brought through the
side seam zip 105 into the interior of the parka 100. The concealment material 106
may comprise sufficient material or be stretchable to cover the elbow when the elbow
is brought through the side seam zip 105 into the interior of the parka 100.
[0023] Each side seam zip 105 may comprise a lower slider 107A such that the parka
100 may be widened from the bottom up. Alternatively, each side seam zip 105 may
comprise an upper slider 107B such that the parka 100 may be widened top-down. In
a preferred embodiment shown, each side seam zip 105 comprises upper and lower
sliders 107B and 107A such that the parka 100 may be widened bottom-up or top
down.
[0024] The parka 100 may be made from substantially waterproof, water repellent
and/or breathable material. The concealment material 106 may comprise fabric which
may be relatively lighter, stretchable and/or be water absorbent such as by comprising
polar fleece material or similar.
[0025] The parka 100 may comprise a hood 109 and drawstrings 110 therefor.
[0026] The parka 100 may comprise a frontal fastener 111 which may be a zip
fastener. The frontal fastener 111 may run to a terminus 113 not extending to the
bottom edge 108 of the parka 100. However, according to the embodiments shown in
Figure 5, the frontal fastener 111 may run right to the bottom edge 108 such that the
parka 100 is completely openable at the front.
[0027] The parka 100 may further comprise side pockets 112 which may be closed
with seam fasteners, such as zip fasteners.

[0028] With reference to Figure 5, the parka 100 may comprise an interior pocket 114
along an inner breast thereof comprising a fastener 115 which may be a zip fastener
and slider 116 which may be opened and through which the parka 100 may be
inverted to package the parka 100 as a compact carry bag 117 shown in Figure 6.
The bag 117 may comprise a retention clip 118.
