Abstract
An automatic, indoor disinfection apparatus for disinfecting a room using products in the form of a mist. The machine can be further programmed to dispense product at desired intervals in multiple areas and rooms in a facility. The machine may be controlled remotely and the disinfectant container may be connected directly or indirectly to the pump and the product delivered to the nozzles in short bursts or extended misting periods. The machine also consists of pipes, hoses, filters, sensors, gauges, connectors, timers and monitoring devices. Description
Provisional Specification
AUTOMATED DISINFECTION MACHINE FOR INDOOR MISTING OF DISINFECTANTS
The invention is described in the following statement
2020100751 13 May 2020
Infection Control is a very important topic, not just since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The need for infection control in almost every facility that is frequented by people is of enormous importance. Failures in disinfecting a facility adequately can result in every illness, sickness as well as loss of productivity. The overall annual economic loss due to infections is dramatic.
Most businesses are not able to afford regular disinfection of their facilities due to the cost of labour, which traditionally comes with the applying of disinfectant in a facility. The labour element is often more expensive than the actual product. While there are many different application methods, they all involve labour.
A novel application method in accordance with this invention compromises of an automated mechanism that is able to disinfect a room without physical labour. The whole machine / mechanism includes high pressure misting nozzles which are attached to stainless steel pipes and flexible hoses that connect to a high pressure pump, able to deliver disinfectant to these nozzles in short bursts or extended misting periods. The pump is connected either directly to the disinfectant container or a secondary container.
The pump is fitted with a timer and is able to dispense the disinfectant in short intervals, short bursts or longer misting duration from the ceiling or walls, similar to a sprinkler system, at high pressure. The difference to sprinklers is that the nozzles are able to dispense the product in a very fine mist which creates a fog-like atmosphere, allowing the disinfectant to settle on every surface and thus disinfecting them in the process.
The pump is a high pressure pump that can be fitted with a timer to dispense the disinfectant at scheduled and desired intervals. The pump can be some distance away from the nozzles and serve multiple rooms simultaneously, the nozzles are customised for each room and the area to be disinfected. Multiple nozzle and pump arrangements are possible for a facility.
This machine enables the room / indoor area / space to be disinfected without the physical act of disinfecting with people and is a completely automated procedure. This will enable many more facilities to be disinfected and thus create a safer environment.
The machine consists of the pump, pipes, hoses and nozzles (clusters), filters, sensors, gauges, connectors, timers and monitoring devices.
Figure 1 is a sample of a general overview of the standard system. It shows the individual parts of the system in its basic form. The system can be expanded or minimised, depending on where it will be installed.
Figure 2 shows a sample image on how the nozzle (single or multiple) is/are installed in the room. The nozzles dispense the specialised product in a very fine mist which is covering the entire room in a matter of seconds.
Figure 3 shows how multiple room can be connected to the pump which itself can be placed anywhere in the facility as long as the tubing can connect to the room to be fumigated.
Claims (7)
1. A machine that consist of several components to enable automatic, in-door, automated misting / fumigation of disinfectants.
2. The machine can as claimed in 1 further dispense small or large amounts of disinfectant into a room and / or indoor area from the ceiling or walls. The machine creates a very fine mist which is settling on hard surfaces of the room and / or indoor area.
3. The machine can as claimed in 2 eliminate the need for physical task of disinfecting a room with conventional methods such as wiping, fogging with ULV, thermal or electrostatic foggers and mopping.
4. The machine can as claimed in 3 further be programmed to dispense product at desired intervals.
5. The machine can as claimed in 4 be installed to service multiple rooms and areas in a facility.
6. The machine can as claimed in 5 be controlled remotely.
7. The machine can as claimed in 6 also be connected to the disinfectant container directly or to a secondary container into which the disinfectant is filled.
