BUILDING SHEET SUPPORT
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a building sheet support. More particularly, this invention relates to a building sheet support with a rotatable platform.
BACKGROUND ART
The following references to and descriptions of prior proposals or products are not intended to be, and are not to be construed as, statements or admissions of common general knowledge in the art. In particular, the following prior art discussion should not be assumed to relate to what is commonly or well known by the person skilled in 0 the art, but to assist in the inventive process undertaken by the inventor(s) and in the understanding of the invention.
Methods of installing plasterboard to ceilings have been described in which a person is required to hold up each end of a plasterboard sheet when installing it onto a ceiling. This method generally requires 3 people, a person holding each end of the 5 plasterboard and another fixing the plasterboard to the ceiling. The additional labour costs can add significant costs to installation of plasterboard to ceilings.
An object of the present invention is to ameliorate one or more of the aforementioned disadvantages of the prior art or to at least provide a useful alternative thereto.

The at least two panels may be orientated at an angle between 10° - 170° to each other. The building sheet support may only include two panels. In this specification, the
2020100310 03 Mar 2020 word “panels” may refer to panels of the at least two panels or the two panels. The two panels or two of the at least two panels may be orientated at between 45° - 135° from each other. The two panels or two of the at least two panels may be orientated at between 70° - 110° from each other. The two panels or two of the at least two panels may be permanently fixed to each other.
The two panels or two of the at least two panels may include an upper panel and a lower panel. The upper panel may be adapted to be located above the lower panel in 25 an orientation in which the building sheet support is attached to the building frame member. The hinge, nominated panel hinge may attach the two panels or rotatable support to the main body. The hinge may be located on an upper end of the main body. The upper and/or lower panel may include curved surfaces. Only the upper panel may be substantially curved and not the lower panel. The upper panel may be 30 curved or include bends such that an outer portion of the upper panel, which is spaced apart from the lower panel, may include a lowermost point of the upper panel when the rotatable support is in a receiving position. The outer portion of the upper panel may be 75% or a half of the upper panel which is furthest away from the lower panel. Preferably, both the upper and lower panels are substantially flat. Preferably, both the 35 upper and lower panels are substantially perpendicular to each other.
The rotatable support may be adapted such that the rotatable support can rotate between the receive position and a support position. The rotatable support may be
2020100310 03 Mar 2020 adapted to receive or first contact the building sheet or building sheet panel (building sheet) in the receive position. The rotatable support may be adapted to support the building sheet in an angular position range between the receive position and the support position, not including the receive position. The angular support position may 5 include the support position and not include the receive position. The angular position may include any angular orientation between the support position and 80° from the support position. The angular position may include any angular orientation between the support position and 60° from the support position. The angular position may include any angular orientation between the support position and 45° from the support 0 position.
With the rotatable support in the receive position, the upper panel may be orientated substantially perpendicular and the lower panel orientated substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the building frame member when the main body is attached to the building frame member. With the rotatable support in the support position, the upper 5 panel may be orientated substantially parallel and the lower panel orientated substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the building frame member when the main body is attached to the building frame member.
The upper panel may be adapted to receive the building sheet. The upper panel may be adapted to receive and be pushed by the building sheet to rotate the rotatable support Ό in a direction from the receive position to the support position. The lower panel may be adapted to support the building sheet.
Lock and release mechanism
The building sheet support may include multiple lock and release mechanisms. The lock and release mechanism may include a selectively engageable ratchet such as a 25 ratchet with a switch to engage or disengage the ratchet. When the switch is in a first position the ratchet may be adapted to only rotate in a single direction, corresponding to the rotation of the rotatable support in the direction from the receive position to the support position. When the switch is in a second position, the ratchet may be adapted to rotate in both directions corresponding to rotational directions rotating to and from 30 the receiving position and the support position. The lock and release mechanism may include a rod attached to the rotatable support with a pivot join or hinge. The lock and release mechanism may further include a lock and release member. The lock and release member may be attached to the main body with a pivot join or hinge. The rod may be adapted to slide in a hole in the lock and release member. The hole may by 35 cylindrical. The rod may be cylindrical. Preferably, a profile of the rod, perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the rod may be substantially the same shape as the hole in the lock and release member. The lock and release member may be adapted such that the
2020100310 03 Mar 2020 hole can be moved or moves into and out of being substantially coaxial with the rod. Therefore, the lock and release mechanism may be adapted such that the hole can selectively catch or lock and release or allow the rod to pass through the hole.
The lock and release mechanism may be adapted such that the rotatable support can only rotate in the rotational direction from the receiving position to the support position and not in the rotational direction from the support position to the receiving position when the lock and release mechanism is not activated. The lock and release mechanism may be adapted such that the rotatable support can rotate in the rotational direction from the receiving position to the support position and in the rotational 0 direction from the support position to the receiving position when the lock and release mechanism is activated. In this specification “rotational directions” are directions which the rotatable support is capable of rotating or a rotational direction in the direction of a shortest distance to travel between the referenced positions used in describing the rotational directions. The lock and release mechanism may be activated by pressing, pulling and/or rotating an activation mechanism. The lock and release mechanism may be adapted to keep the lock and release mechanism not activated unless the operator is holding, rotating, pressing or pulling the activation mechanism. Alternatively, the activation mechanism may operate as a switch and may stay in an activated or not activated position unless the operator presses, rotates and/or pulls the Ό activation mechanism to switch between the activated position and the not activated position. The activation mechanism may include a switch, lever, button, tab, bolt and/or string. The activation mechanism may be located on the rod, lock and release member and/or ratchet. Preferably, the lock and release member includes the activation mechanism. Preferably, the activation mechanism is located on a '5 substantially opposite end of the lock and release member to the hole. The hole may be a tab hole in that it is a hole in a tab of the lock and release member. The pivot join or hinge may be located substantially between the hole and the activation mechanism on the lock and release member. Preferably, activating the lock and release mechanism includes pressing the activation mechanism. Preferably, the activation 30 mechanism is the tab or lever attached and fixed to the lock and release member.
Therefore, the locking mechanism may be adapted to releasably lock the rotatable support from rotating in a single direction, while allowing rotation in the opposite direction. Also, therefore, the locking mechanism may be adapted to release the rotatable support to allow the rotatable support to rotate in both directions when the 35 lock and release mechanism is activated.
The lock and release mechanism may be adapted such that a tab hole line which is coaxial with the tab hole (hole of the lock and release member) and extending
2020100310 03 Mar 2020 upwards from the tab hole is located above the mechanism rod when the lock and the release mechanism is not activated and the main body it removably fixed to the building frame member. A centre of mass of the lock and release member may be located relative to the second pivot connection such that a weight of the lock and 5 release member forces or moves the tab hole line above the mechanism rod.
Alternatively, the lock and release mechanism may include a spring or other biased device adapted to force, pull or push the lock and release member counter clockwise as viewed from a left side of the building sheet support facing the building sheet support such that the tab hole line is above the mechanism rod. The lock and release 0 mechanism may be adapted such that the tab hole line is located below the mechanism rod when the lock and release mechanism is activated and the main body is removably fixed to the building frame member. Therefore, the lock and release mechanism may be adapted such that, with the lock and release member not activated, the mechanism rod can slide freely through the tab hole when the rotatable support is rotating in the 5 direction from the receiving position to the support position but catches or locks the rotatable support when being moved in the direction from the support position to the receiving position and the lock and release member is not activated.
Exposed building frame member
The exposed building frame member (building frame member) may include a stud or Ό multiple studs. The building frame member may be made of materials including metal, wood, plastic, brick and concrete. Preferably, the building frame member is a single stud. The building frame member may be orientated substantially vertically.
Method
A method of using the building sheet support to support the building sheet may 25 include the following:
Attaching the main body to the building frame member with the attachment device in an orientation in which the upper panel is located vertically higher than the lower panel;
If the support is not in the receive position (receiving position), activating the 30 lock and release mechanism and rotating the rotatable support to the receive position; and
Pushing the building sheet or building sheet panel into the upper panel until the rotatable support rotates out of the receiving position, and ideally into the support position, at this stage of the method, the building sheet is supported by 35 the lower panel.
It will be appreciated that any of the features described herein can be used in any
2020100310 03 Mar 2020 combination, and that the invention as described in respect of the second aspect may have the specific features referred to above in respect of the invention as described in respect of the first aspect.

Ό The rotatable support 30 is adapted to rotate between the receive position and a support position. The rotatable support 30 is adapted to receive or first contact the building sheet in the receive position. The rotatable support is adapted to support the building sheet in an angular position range between the receive position and the support position, not including the receive position. The angular position range is 25 between support position and between 10° - 80° from the support position. The lock and release mechanism 40 is adapted such that the rotatable support 30 can only rotate in the rotational direction from the receiving position to the support position and not the rotational direction from the support position to the receiving position when the lock and release mechanism 40 is not activated. The lock and release mechanism 40 is 30 adapted such that the rotatable support 30 can rotate in the rotational direction from the receiving position to the support position and in the rotational direction from the support position to the receiving position when the lock and release mechanism is activated. The first and second tabs 42ci,cii are located circumferential spaced out around the sleeve 42c. An angle between locations of the first and second tabs 42ci,cii around the sleeve 42c is between 45° - 90°. The mechanism rod 41 is adapted to slide in a tab 5 hole 42d in the first tab 42ci. The tab hole 42d is cylindrical. The mechanism rod 41 is substantially cylindrical. The lock and release member 40 is adapted such that the tab hole 42d can be moved into and out of being coaxial with the mechanism rod 41. Therefore, the lock and release mechanism 40 is adapted such that the tab hole 42d can selectively catch or allow the mechanism rod 41 to pass through the tab hole 42d.
This corresponds to not activating or activating the lock and release mechanism 40 respectively.
The lock and release mechanism 40 may be adapted such that a tab hole line 42di which is coaxial with the tab hole 42d and extending upwards from the tab hole 42d is located above the mechanism rod 41 (shown in Figs. 8 and 13) when the rotatable support 30 is in the angular position range and the lock and the release mechanism 40 is not activated. A centre of mass of the lock and release member 42 is located relative to the second pivot connection 42a such that a weight of the lock and release member 42 forces or moves the tab hole line 42di below the mechanism rod 41. Alternatively, the lock and release mechanism 40 may include a spring or other biased device
Ό adapted to force, pull or push the lock ad release member 42 counter clockwise as viewed from a left side 2b of the building sheet support 1 facing the building sheet support l(as viewed in Figs. 2, 12 and 13). The lock and release mechanism 40 may be adapted such that the tab hole line 42di is located below the mechanism rod 41 (shown in Figs. 2, 7, 11) when the lock and release mechanism 40 is activated.
Therefore, the lock and release mechanism is adapted such that, with the lock and release member 42 not activated, the mechanism rod 41 can slide freely through the tab hole 42d.
After the main body 10 is fixed or attached to the building frame member, if the rotatable support 30 is not in a receiving position, the rotatable support 30 is moved to 30 the receiving position. The rotatable support 30 is moved to the receiving position by the operator activating the lock and release mechanism 40 and then rotating the rotatable support downward to the receiving position. With the rotatable support 30 in the receiving position, the building sheet support 1 is adapted such that the operator can force the building sheet upwards onto an inner surface 3 lai of the upper panel 31a 35 such that the upper panel 31a and lower panel 31b rotate upwards until the rotatable support 30 is within the angular position range. In this position, the building sheet rests on and is supported by an inner surface 3 Ibi of the lower panel 31b. Ideally, the
2020100310 03 Mar 2020 operator rotates the rotatable support 30 all the way into the support position to provide maximum support for the building sheet. The building sheet is then secured to the ceiling. The building sheet support 1 may then be detached from the building frame member by unscrewing the bolt 21.
Figure 14 shows an alternative embodiment of the building sheet support 101 in which an upper panel 131a and a lower panel 131b are located in planes that are orientated at 60° to each other. Advantageously, in this orientation, a rotatable support 130 is adapted such that a free end edge 131 aiii of the upper panel 131 a is adapted to contact the building sheet or building sheet panel.
Throughout the specification and claims the word “comprise” and its derivatives are intended to have an inclusive rather than exclusive meaning unless the contrary is expressly stated or the context requires otherwise. That is, the word “comprise” and its derivatives will be taken to indicate the inclusion of not only the listed components, steps or features that it directly references, but also other components, steps or 5 features not specifically listed, unless the contrary is expressly stated or the context requires otherwise.
In the present specification, terms such as “apparatus”, “means”, “device” and “member” may refer to singular or plural items and are terms intended to refer to a set of properties, functions or characteristics performed by one or more items or Ό components having one or more parts. It is envisaged that where an “apparatus”, “means”, “device” or “member” or similar term is described as being a unitary object, then a functionally equivalent object having multiple components is considered to fall within the scope of the term, and similarly, where an “apparatus”, “assembly”, “means”, “device” or “member” is described as having multiple components, a 25 functionally equivalent but unitary object is also considered to fall within the scope of the term, unless the contrary is expressly stated or the context requires otherwise. In the present specification, the phrase “and/or” refers to severally or any combination of the features. For example, the phrase “feature 1, feature 2 and/or feature 3” includes within its scope any one of the following combinations: Feature 1 or feature 2 or 30 feature 3; feature 1 and feature 2 or feature 3; feature 1 or feature 2 and feature 3;
feature 1 and feature 3 or feature 2; feature 1 and feature 2 and feature 3. In this specification “substantially” refers to above 80% of a volume of the part/feature or above 80% of the dimension such as length of the part/feature.
Orientational terms used in the specification and claims such as vertical, horizontal, 35 top, bottom, upper and lower are to be interpreted as relational and are based on the premise that the component, item, article, apparatus, device or instrument will usually be considered in a particular orientation, typically with the panels 31a,b uppermost.
