Description

VENTILATION APPARATUS
FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001]
The present invention relates to a ventilation apparatus mounted in a frame for a window.
BACKGROUND ART DISCUSSION [0002]
It is well known in the art to install a ventilation structure in a frame member constituting a part of an opening frame that rims an opening of a wall or a part of a window frame of a sash window slidably supported by or fixedly mounted in the opening frame.
One type of the ventilation structure simply has a ventilation passage formed in the frame member to allow for natural ventilation. Another type of the ventilation structure has a manual ventilation control device incorporated in the frame member. [0003]
In the natural ventilation, rain water may blow indoors when wind and rain are strong.
In a case where a manual ventilation control device is incorporated, a trouble of manually closing a ventilation passage of the ventilation control device is required when wind and rain are strong. As with the natural ventilation, the rain water may blow indoors if the wind and rain become strong while a room is unmanned with the ventilation passage left open.
[0004]
Patent Documents 1 and 2 to be described later disclose mounting a ventilation control device on an indoor side of a frame member and rotatably disposing a shutter plate on an outdoor side of the frame member. When wind and rain are strong, the shutter plate is rotated by a wind pressure to close a ventilation
2018271249 26 Nov 2018 passage, thereby overcoming the problems associated with the two types of ventilation structures mentioned above.
PRIOR ART DOCUMENT
PATENT DOCUMENT [0005] [Patent Document 1] International Patent Application Publication No. WO2015/198416 [Patent Document 2] Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2016-217642 [Patent Document 3] Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2006-328802
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0006]
In the ventilation apparatus of Patent Documents 1 and 2, since the ventilation passage is formed such that the air flows in a direction orthogonal to the frame member and the shutter plate is disposed in the ventilation passage, a cross sectional area of the frame member is increased. Moreover, in the Patent Documents 1 and 2, since the ventilation control device is disposed alongside the shutter plate in the direction orthogonal to the frame member, the cross sectional area of the frame member is further increased.
In the ventilation apparatus of Patent Documents 3, as with the present invention, a frame member has an outdoor side ventilation opening and an indoor side ventilation opening formed therein. The outdoor side ventilation opening and the indoor side ventilation opening are spaced from each other in a longitudinal direction of the frame member. Accordingly, an air from the outdoor side ventilation opening flows indoors from the indoor side ventilation opening through an inner space of the frame
2018271249 26 Nov 2018 member. The ventilation apparatus includes a ventilation control device for opening and closing the inner space. However, Patent Document 3 fails to disclose a shutter plate actuated by a wind pressure.
[0007]
To solve the problems mentioned above, the present invention provides a ventilation apparatus including: a frame member constituting a part of a frame for a window extending in a linear fashion; and a ventilation structure disposed in the frame member, the frame member including: a main portion extending in a longitudinal direction of the frame member and having a hollow closed crosssectional configuration, the main portion including an outdoor side wall portion and an indoor side wall portion, the ventilation structure including: an outdoor side ventilation opening formed in the outdoor side wall portion; an indoor side ventilation opening formed in the indoor side wall portion, the indoor side ventilation opening spaced from the outdoor side ventilation opening in the longitudinal direction of the frame member; and a shutter plate disposed in an inner space of the main portion at a location between the outdoor side ventilation opening and the indoor side ventilation opening, the shutter plate rotatably supported by the main portion, wherein when a wind pressure is not strong, the shutter plate allows for airflow through the inner space of the main portion, and when the wind pressure is strong, the shutter plate is rotated to shut off the airflow by the wind pressure.
[0008]
According to the features mentioned above, the shutter plate shuts off the airflow through the inner space of the main portion of the frame member when wind and rain are strong, and thereby, rain water can be prevented from blowing indoors. Moreover, since the inner space of the main portion of the frame member extending in the longitudinal direction serves as a ventilation passage and the shatter plate is disposed in the ventilation passage, a cross-sectional area of the frame member is not increased.
2018271249 26 Nov 2018 [0009]
Preferably, the shutter plate includes a first portion located closer to the outdoor side ventilation opening with respect to a rotational axis thereof and a second portion located closer to the indoor side ventilation opening, the first portion being longer than the second portion, when the wind pressure is not strong, an attitude of the shutter plate is maintained along the longitudinal direction of the frame member by an attitude maintaining means, thereby the shutter plate allowing for the airflow through the inner space of the main portion, and when the wind pressure is strong, the shutter plate is rotated by the wind pressure against the attitude maintaining means, thereby the shutter plate shutting off the airflow.
According to the features mentioned above, since the shutter plate in the attitude along the longitudinal direction of the frame member allows for the airflow, the air can flow in a smooth manner. Moreover, due to a difference in pressure receiving areas between the first portion and the second portion, the shutter plate can be surely rotated to shut off the airflow.
[0010]
Preferably, the attitude maintaining means includes a spring and a stopper, the spring rotationally biasing the shutter plate, the stopper limiting the rotation of the shutter plate in a biasing direction of the spring.
According to the features mentioned above, the shutter plate can be securely maintained at the attitude in which it allows for the airflow. Moreover, the spring allows for an appropriate setting of the wind pressure at which the shutter plate is rotated to shut off the airflow.
[0011]
Preferably, the ventilation apparatus further includes a shutter unit, the shutter unit including a unit body disposed in the inner space of the main portion, the shutter plate rotationally supported by the unit body, the spring and the stopper both disposed in the unit body.
2018271249 26 Nov 2018
According to the features mentioned above, since the prefabricated shutter unit is mounted in the frame member, an installation work of the shutter plate, the spring and the stopper can be simplified. [0012]
Preferably, a mounting opening is formed in the indoor side wall portion of the main portion at a location between the outdoor side ventilation opening and the indoor side ventilation opening, a flange portion is formed on an indoor side of the unit body, and the shutter unit is disposed in the inner space of the main portion in a state in which the unit body is inserted in the mounting opening and the flange portion is fixed to the indoor side wall portion.
According to the features mentioned above, the mounting work of the shutter unit can be further simplified.
[0013]
Preferably, the main portion includes the outdoor side wall portion and the indoor side wall portion, the main portion further including a first wall portion and a second wall portion, the first wall portion and the second wall portion opposed to each other in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the frame member and an indoor-outdoor direction, the main portion has a rectangular cross-sectional configuration elongated in the direction in which the first wall portion and the second wall portion are opposed to each other, a protrusion is formed in the indoor side wall portion at a location close to the first wall portion, the protrusion protruded into a room, the mounting opening is formed in the indoor side wall portion in a region in which the protrusion is not formed, the unit body has a cylindrical configuration having a rectangular cross-section, the unit body disposed close to the second wall portion and distanced from the first wall portion, the unit body including an opening faced to the first wall portion, and when the shutter plate is rotated in a closing direction, the first portion is protruded through the opening and abutted against the first wall portion.
2018271249 26 Nov 2018
According to the features mentioned above, although the shutter unit is disposed close to the second wall portion and distanced from the first wall portion, the airflow can be shut off by the first portion of the shutter plate’s being protruded from the opening of the unit body and abutted against the first wall portion.
[0014]
Preferably, the frame member is a vertical frame extending in a vertical direction, and the indoor side ventilation opening is disposed above the outdoor side ventilation opening.
According to the features mentioned above, in a state in which the shutter plate shuts off the airflow, the rain water from the outdoor side ventilation opening can be prevented from flowing along a wall of the main portion toward the shutter plate by the action of the gravity.
[0015]
Preferably, a ventilation control device is disposed in the indoor side wall portion of the main portion, the ventilation control device controlling the airflow through the indoor side ventilation opening.
According to the features mentioned above, the ventilation control device helps to realize optimal ventilation. Moreover, since the ventilation control device and the shutter plate are disposed spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction of the frame member, the cross-sectional area of the frame member is not increased. [0016]
Preferably, the frame member includes a receiving space extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame member, the receiving space disposed on the indoor side with respect to the main portion and being open to indoors, the ventilation control device disposed in the receiving space, the receiving space is covered with a covering member extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame member, an operation opening is formed in the covering member at a location corresponding to an operation knob of the ventilation control device, and an auxiliary ventilation opening
2018271249 26 Nov 2018 is formed in the covering member at a location corresponding to the indoor side ventilation opening.
According to the features mentioned above, a good appearance can be maintained by covering the receiving space of the frame member and the ventilation control device with the covering member.
[0017]
According to the present invention, the rain water can be prevented from blowing indoors when wind and rain are strong and an increase in the cross-sectional area of the frame member of the frame for the window can be constrained.

The shutter unit 40 is inserted through the mounting opening 19 and disposed in the inner space 15 of the main portion 11. [0034]
2018271249 26 Nov 2018
As shown in FIGS. 8 to 12, the shutter unit 40 includes a unit body 41 having a cylindrical configuration with a rectangular cross-section. The unit body 41 includes a main plate 42 bent to have a U-shaped cross-sectional configuration, auxiliary plates 43, 44 respectively fixed to inner surfaces of an upper end portion and a lower end portion of the main plate 42 and a mounting plate 45 fixed to an indoor side plate portion of the main plate 42. An opening 46 is formed between the auxiliary plates 43, 44.
[0035]
Packings 42a, 42b are respectively attached to outer peripheries of the upper end portion and the lower end portion of the main plate 42. The mounting plate 45 is fixed to the indoor side plate portion of the main plate 42 via the packings 42a, 42b. An upper end portion and a lower end portion of the mounting plate 45 are respectively protruded upwards and downwards from the main plate 42 and provided as flange portions 45a, 45b.
[0036]
A shutter plate 47 is rotatably supported in an inside of the unit body 41 so as to be rotatable about a rotational axis extending in the indoor-outdoor direction. Specifically, as shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, a bearing portion 47a having a circular cylindrical configuration is fixed to opposite side edges of the shutter plate 47 in a width direction (indoor-outdoor direction). The shutter plate 47 is rotatably supported by the unit body 41 by the bearing portion 47a’s being fitted to a hollow shaft portion 48 fixed to the main plate 42.
[0037]
The shutter plate 47 includes a first portion 47x on a lower side (outdoor side ventilation opening 17 side) with respect to the rotational axis thereof and a second portion 47y on an upper side (indoor side ventilation opening 18 side) with respect to the rotational axis thereof. The first portion 47x is longer than the second portion 47y.
2018271249 26 Nov 2018
A packing 47b is attached to a left side surface (surface on the first wall portion 11c side) of a distal end portion of the first portion 47x. A packing 47c is attached to a right side surface (surface on the second wall portion lid side) of a distal end portion of the second portion 47y. [0038]
The shutter plate 47 is urged by a torsion coil spring 49 (spring) received in the hollow shaft portion 48 in a counter-clockwise direction in FIGS. 11 and 12. A coil portion of the torsion coil spring 49 is supported by a support protrusion 48a formed in a middle portion of the shaft portion 48. One end of the torsion coil spring 49 is caught by a catch portion 48b protruded inward in a radial direction from a circular cylindrical portion of the shaft portion 48. The other end of the torsion coil spring 49 is caught by a catch portion 47e formed in the bearing portion 47a of the shutter plate 47.
[0039]
Opposite end portions of the upper auxiliary plate 43 of the unit body 41 are bent toward an inner space of the unit body 41 and are provided as stoppers 43a. A packing 43b is attached to a right side surface of the stopper 43 a. [0040]
As shown in FIG. 5, the shutter unit 40 is received in the inner space 15 of the main portion 11 by inserting the unit body 41 into the mounting opening 19 of the vertical frame 10 and fixing the flange portions 45a, 45b to an indoor side surface of the indoor side wall portion 1 lb with screws. In a state in which the shutter unit 40 is mounted, a right side plate portion of the main plate 42 is abutted against the second wall portion 1 Id of the main portion 11 via the packings 42a, 42b and an outdoor side plate portion of the main plate 42 is abutted against the outdoor side wall portion Ila of the main portion 11 via the packings 42a, 42b. Thereby, the shutter unit 40 is mounted to a right portion of the main portion 11 in an airtight manner on three surfaces.
[0041]
2018271249 26 Nov 2018
In a state in which the shutter unit 40 is mounted, the shutter unit 40 is spaced from the first wall portion 11c of the main portion 11 with the opening 46 thereof oriented to the first wall portion 11c. The rotational axis of the shutter plate 47 is disposed at a location close to the second wall portion lid. [0042]
In the ventilation apparatus mentioned above, when an outdoor air pressure is not strong, the distal end portion of the second portion 47y of the shutter plate 47 is abutted against the stopper 43a via the packing 43b as shown in FIG. 11. Thereby, the shutter plate 47 is prohibited from being rotated in the counter-clockwise direction, assuming a vertical posture (along the longitudinal direction of the vertical frame 10), allowing for the airflow through the inner space 15. Therefore, the outdoor air can be supplied indoors via the outdoor side ventilation openings 17, the inner space 15 of the main portion 11, the indoor side ventilation openings 18, the ventilation openings 3 lx, 3 ly of the ventilation control device 30 and the auxiliary ventilation openings 28 of the covering member 20.
[0043]
Normally, the ventilation is controlled by operating the operation knob 32 of the ventilation control device 30. Specifically, if the actuating plate 34 of the ventilation control device 30 is brought to a closing position by the operation of the operation knob 32, the outdoor air is shut off by the actuating plate 34, thus the ventilation is not performed. If the actuating plate 34 is brought to an opening position, the ventilation can be performed.
[0044]
When rain and wind are strong outside, the strong wind pressure acts on the shutter plate 47 via the outdoor side ventilation openings 17. Thereby, the shutter plate 47 is rotated in a clockwise direction against a biasing force of the torsion coil spring 49. By this rotation, as shown in FIG. 12, the second portion 47y of the shutter plate 47 is moved away from the stopper 43a toward the second wall portion lid and the distal end portion of the second portion 47y is abutted against the right side plate
2018271249 26 Nov 2018 portion of the main plate 42 via the packing 47c. On the other hand, the first portion 47x of the shutter plate 47 is protruded from the opening 46 of the shutter unit 40 and the distal end portion of the first portion 47x is abutted against the first wall portion 11c via the packing 47b. As a result, the airflow through the inner space 15 of the main portion 11 can be shut off.
[0045]
Therefore, even if the room is unmanned with the actuating plate 34 left open when the wind and rain are strong, the rain water can be prevented from flowing indoors because the inner space 15 of the main portion 10 can be shut off by the shutter plate 47.
[0046]
In this embodiment, since the protrusion 12 is formed in the vertical frame 10, the shutter unit 40 is disposed at the location close to the second wall portion lid. Nevertheless, the inner space 15 can be shut off because the shutter plate 47 is protruded from the opening 46 of the shutter unit 40 and abutted against the first wall portion 11c.
[0047]
In the present embodiment, a wind pressure at which the shutter plate 47 should be actuated to shut off can be set as appropriate by using the torsion coil spring 49. For example, the shutter plate 47 can be actuated for shutting off at the set wind pressure of 150 Pa to 200 Pa.
[0048]
The present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above. Various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of this invention.
For example, the frame member is made of one hollow molded material in the embodiment described above. However, the frame member may be made of a plurality of molded materials arranged to have a hollow cross-sectional configuration similar to that of the embodiment described above.
