Abstract
This pet waste bag holder uses stretch fabric shell with an envelope closure and small slit opening to simply and securely hold and dispense pet waste bags. The envelope closure is unique in that the overlapping fabrics effectively hold the pet waste bags in place without the need for a zipper, hook and loop fastening or other mechanical closures or trims. The stretch fabric (for example neoprene or other bonded fabrics) are firm enough to hold shape and ensure the opening remains closed. On the opposite side of the bag holder to the opening, there is a small slit. The end of the waste bags (often dispensed on a roll, but not exclusively) is pressed through this opening and the waste bags are pulled through the slit as needed. There is a clip fastening sewn into the top edge seam so that the bag holder can be attached to a pet lead. This simple, but effective combination of stretch fabrics, envelope closure, slit dispenser and clip represents an innovation on what were previously bulk items.
Description
BACKGROUND [0001] There are many types of pet waste bag holders (used to hold bags for picking up the excrement of pet) that use zip closures, button closures or hook and loop closures. The problem with many of these is that they can damage the waste bag when being inserted into the waste bag holder.
[002] This problem is evident when using pre-packaged rolls of pet waste bags, but exaggerated when recycling individual bags (for example a recyclable shopping bag) as the waste bag is not neatly rolled, folded or prepared. Once damaged, a a waste bag is often discarded and not used.
SUMMARY [0002] The problem faced is how to make using a variety of waste bags simpler. Further, an additional design challenge is how to make a low-cost, effective bag that will make if cheap and easy to carry and use pet waste bags when walking/training a pet. The innovation outlined here does this with a simple, yet radical shift in pet waste bag holders open and close.
[0004] To insert a roll or group of waste bags, the overlapping layers of stretch fabric are easily parted and the waste bags pushed into the central cavity. With the end (between 2cm to 6cm) then pushed through the slit on the opposite side of the cavity, the waste bags are held in place. As waste bags are dispensed through this slit on the opposite side of the bag to where the opening is, the bags are secure and do not fall back out through the envelope closure.
[0005] Given the opening is fabric, the bags are not likely to be damaged when being inserted into the waste bag holder.
DESCRIPTION [0006] Figure 1 shows the clip used to fasten the waste bag holder to the lead (“A”) and the loop through which this is attached (“B”). The outer layer of overlapped layers of fabric that make the envelop closure can be seen (“C”). Figure 2 shows the reverse of the waste bag holder where the slit (“D”) is positioned. The size, shape and position of this slit (“D”) can vary. Here it is shown in a central position.
[0007] Figure 3 shows the cross section (indicated on Figure 1, “E” and “F”). This cross section demonstrates the innovation of the envelope closure. This cross section shows where the outer layer of the envelope closure (“A”) extends over the under layer of the envelope closure (“B”). In the central cavity, the roll of pet waste bags (“C”) is shown to be threaded through the slit opening (“D”) with the end of the waste bag (“E”) exposed and ready to be dispensed.
[0008] As illustrated in Figure 3, no mechanical closure is required to easily store and dispense pet waste bags in this waste bag holder.
[0009] The use of a stretch fabric makes this waste bag holder easy to clean and maintain.
Claims (4)
1. A cost effective non-mechanical closure on a pet waste bag holder
2. A waste bag holder that greatly reduces the likelihood a waste bag (or roll of waste bags) will be damaged when inserting the into a waste bag holder.
3. Positioning of the slit through which pet waste bags are dispensed assists holding pet waste bags in place.
4. Innovative use of stretch fabrication (neoprene or similar).
