Abstract
24 V LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign The disclosed 24 V LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign is of rectangular of 900mm long x 600mm high x 36mm deep comprising of 12 products in total. With the backing plate being the base sickaflex-252 is added around the edge for extra control of being water and dust tight, then the hi-vis number is stuck to the aluminium composite panel which is then installed into the curved section of the middle inward facing side pieces where the 3mm wide 6mm deep groove has been cut out. The top and bottom middle pieces are then attached to both side pieces using the locators at the top and bottom of both side pieces. Once the middle section is placed together place on top of the backing plate (Hi-Vis numbers facing away from backing plate) then install the LED strip into the LED Channel, drill a 1/8-inch hole through the backing plate, feed the LED strip wire through then place the LED Channel into the cut-out grooves at the base of both inward facing side pieces. Install gasket over top to hide middle section and LED Channel then install UV2 Polycarbonate Sheet on top. Once altogether install 14x 316 grade stainless steel bolts, washers and nylon locking nuts to seal and clamp sign tightly. Once torqued to specification flip sign over and fill hole where LED strip wires are coming out with sickaflex-252. Once built install in suitable place on machine and connect wiring loom to lighting circuit to illuminate the 24 V LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign for 100% positive communication at night time. t. For many years, the mining industry with their use of off highway machines have consisted of utilizing Hi-Vis reflective stickers or just plain black stickers shaped in the form of numbers to easily identify the specific machine number for the use of effective positive communication between Light Vehicles and Heavy Vehicles, Heavy Vehicles to Heavy Vehicles and as well as total machine stock within the company. This LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Identification Number Sign has been specifically designed to provide an improved Sign of simple, cheap, effective, low cost replacement parts and ease of installation and repairs (if necessary) whereby the Hl-Vis Reflective Number sticker and the LED channel and LED strip are protected from air, water, mud and rocks from being damaged and easily visible at night time. A sign in accordance with this invention comprises of 10mm thick HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) as the backing plate (refer to FIG 1) which will have sickaflex-252 used as a gasket material in between the backing plate and the middle section, 20mm thick HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) parts as centre pieces (refer to FIG 2,3,4),(2x top middle pieces and 2x side middle pieces) with a jigsaw locator on both top and bottom of both side pieces to lock the top and bottom pieces with both side pieces. There will be a 3mm wide groove on both internally facing side pieces from the bottom rear of the side pieces cut into a slight curve to the top front of the inner facing side piece which is 6mm deep (refer to FIG 4) in which the 3mm Aluminium Composite panel will be wedged tightly into both internally facing side pieces, a 1.5mm thick gasket placed in between the centre pieces and the upmost outer shield in which is a 4.5mm thick UV2 Polycarbonate sheet utilized as the shield to protect the LED channel, the LED strip and the Hi-Vis Identification 2017100388 06 Apr 2017 2 number stickers. All 4 materials used will be clamped together with 14x % inch 316 grade stainless steel bolts, 28x % inch 316 grade stainless steel washers and 14x % inch 316 grade stainless steel nylon lock nut. (refer to FIG 1)
The internals of the sign comprise of a 3mm thick Aluminium Composite panel sheet with a Diamond Grade Reflective Lime Vinyl sheet stuck to it with a Black Reverse Cut Vinyl Numbers sheet stuck on top of the Diamond Grade Reflective Lime Vinyl sheet (refer to FIG 5). These three materials will be neatly held in place by the 3mm wide 6mm deep grove which is in both middle side pieces of the 20mm FIDPE facing inwards.
Guides cut 16mm high x 8.5mm deep into the bottom of the inward facing side piece (refer to FIG 3 & 4) is of such a size and in such a position that when installing the LED Channel, it will be a tight fit in which will become the home position for the LED Channel where no gluing agent or screws will be necessary to hold the channel in position. The Aluminium Composite panel will slip behind the LED Channel (refer to FIG 4) to fill the 3mm gap that was going to be in between the Aluminium LED Channel and the backing plate. Before the Channel is installed an 1/8-inch hole (3mm) will be drilled through the backing plate for the LED strip cables to protrude out of the housing unit to acquire the power to light up the LED strip. The wires attached from the LED Strip to the two pin Deutsch Plug will be of Tinned Coated wire and encased in heat shrink to help prevent corrosion from the bore water used onsite. Once the wires are protruding through the hole and the LED Channel is installed the rest of the hole where the wire protrude through the backing plate will then be filled by Sickaflex-252 to stop any water and dirt/dust entering the internals of the sign. 2017100388 06 Apr 2017 3
The LED strip will be stuck within the LED Channel by means of its 3M sticky back tape on the reverse side of the LED strip. The LED strip is of IP65 rating in which has a silicone coating over the LED's to help prevent with rusting/corrosion of the copper wiring material within the LED Strip.
The Gasket is of thin 1.5mm thick compressible material in which will keep out moisture, dust and keep the internal of the sign dry and clean.
The cover shield used is of 4.5mm thick UV2 Polycarbonate material which is clear and is an enhanced UV-resistant material with exceptional weatherability and superior impact strength, (refer to FIG 1)

- LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Sign Claims The claims defining the invention are as follows: 1: The LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign comprising of 10mm thick HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) as the backing plate (refer to FIG 1) which will have sickaflex-252 used as a gasket material in between the backing plate and the middle section, 20mm thick HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) parts as centre pieces (refer to FIG 2,3,4) (2x top middle pieces and 2x side middle pieces) with a jigsaw locator on both top and bottom of both side pieces to lock the top and bottom pieces with both side pieces. There will be a 3mm wide groove cut 6mm deep on both internally facing side pieces (refer to FIG 4) from the bottom rear of the side pieces cut into a slight curve to the top front of the inner facing side piece in which the 3mm Aluminium Composite panel will be wedged tightly into both internally facing side pieces and a 16mm high x 8.5mmm deep cut out at the bottom of the inward facing side piece (refer to FIG 3 & 4) will be used as a guide to house the LED Channel, a 1.5mm thick gasket placed in between the centre pieces and the upmost outer shield in which is a 4.5mm thick UV2 Polycarbonate sheet (refer to FIG 1) utilized as the shield to protect the LED channel, the LED strip and the Hi-Vis Identification number sticker (refer to FIG 5). All 4 materials used will be clamped together with 14x % inch 316 grade stainless steel bolts, 28x % inch 316 grade stainless steel washers and 14x % inch 316 grade stainless steel nylon lock nut. (refer to FIG 1)
- 2: The LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign as claimed in claim 1 is formed of HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) and UV2 Polycarbonate.
- 3: The LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign as claimed in claim 1 both middle internal side pieces have a 3mm groove cut 6mm deep from rear bottom of side piece to top front of side piece forming a slight curvature, (refer to FIG 4)
- 4: The LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign as claimed in claim 1 both middle internal side pieces have a 16mm high x 8.5mm deep cut out at the bottom of the inward facing side piece (refer to FIG 3 & 4) will be used as a guide to house the LED Channel.
- 5: The LED Illuminated Hi-Vis Off Highway Machine Identification Number Sign as claimed in claim 1 utilise 14x % inch 316 grade stainless steel bolts, 28x % inch 316 grade stainless steel washers and 14x % inch 316 grade stainless steel nylon lock nut to allow ease of access of changing out materials/parts if required, (refer to FIG 1)
