Abstract

The "Wind Tunnel Turbine Battery Charger" can be used to re-charge an electric car's batteries whilst the vehicle is in motion. The re-charging takes place when airflow is directed toward a turbine by creating a tunnel shaped air intake, this collects the airflow and directs it towards a turbine with several fins/blades. This turbine spins/rotates and the current produced charges the connected battery/batteries. The turbine may be mounted where the radiator/engine is located; in the boot in the rear of a vehicle, the airflow from underneath the vehicle is directed into a scoop tunnel and underneath the turbine blades; or on the roof of the vehicle.

Description

Innovation Name: Wind Tunnel Turbine Battery Recharger
Innovation Description: Instead of using only the petrol engine to re-charge the electric cars batteries, the "Wind Tunnel Turbine Battery Charger" can be used whilst the vehicle is in motion.
The re-charging takes place when airflow is directed toward a turbine by creating a tunnel shaped air intake, this collects the airflow and directs it towards a turbine with several fins/blades. This turbine spins/rotates and the current produced charges the connected battery/batteries.
The Tunnel can be placed in several locations on the vehicle: • Where the traditional radiator /engine is located in petrol vehicles, with the wind being directed over the top of the turbine blades. The turbine mounted parallel to the vehicles axle (Turbine A - side view Diagram 1, top view Diagram 2, front view Diagram 3). • In the rear of the vehicle in the boot location, the airflow from underneath the vehicle is directed into a scoop tunnel and underneath the turbine blades. The turbine mounted parallel to the vehicles axle (Turbine B - side view: Diagram 1, top view: Diagram 2). • On the roof of the vehicle, the turbine is mounted sitting flat on the roof and the airflow will rotate the turbine, this is vertically mounted and could also be placed on the side panels (Turbine C - side view: Diagram 1, top view: Diagram 2, front view: Diagram 3).
Additionally the turbines can be spun whilst the car is stationary and during a windy day they will produce some charge.

Claims (1)

  1. Innovation Name: Wind Tunnel Turbine Battery Recharger Innovation Claim: The "Wind Tunnel Turbine Battery Charger" will produce electrical current whilst vehicle is in motion to perform re-charging of internal batteries. This takes place when airflow is directed toward a turbine by creating a tunnel shaped air intake, this collects the airflow and directs it towards a turbine with several fins/blades. This turbine spins/rotates and the current produced charges the connected battery/batteries. This claim is dependent on the following components/features to be in place for it to work: • Airflow • Airflow being directed toward the turbine • The turbine being able to produce current • The existence of a battery or batteries to receive the charge
