Description

EDITORIAL NOTE 2016100100 There are two pages of description only Title Tea Steeping Travel Mug with Integrated Mortar Base Technical Field The invention relates to a kitchen utility, in particular a tea mug with a mortar base and a drinking extension of the base. Background Drinking vessels with steeping facilities and integrated filters are widely in use among tea lovers. Most products are designed to allow the removal of the filter chamber from the drinking vessel by lifting out a special container from the drinking vessel. Mugs with integrated filters that leave the tea leafs in the cup are the exception. To crush herbs or flowers a separate mortar device is required. Prior Art None of the mugs known combine a mortar device and a drinking vessel with filter into one product. Purpose of the Invention The purpose of this invention is to provide one product, by integrating a Mortar Base into a Tea Steeping Travel Mug. The invention minimises waste of precious ingredients/oils/juices and suits consumers that desire to drink fresh herbal tea and have the ability to also use the drinking whilst commuting. Summary The inventive product is a mug with an integrated mortar base and a lid. It is suitable for travellers and provides the utility to cut, crush, steep and drink fresh (as well as dried ingredients if desired) herbal, floral, seed or fruit content. The inventive design provides full functional integration of said features into a drinking vessel. In addition the mortar base combined with the upper chamber provides storage space for tea processing devices. Abstract In accordance with the invention there is provided a tea steeping travel mug with integrated mortar base, comprising the following components as per drawing (Fig 1) (1) Mortar Base (2) Drinking Chamber (3) Filter (4) Lid (5) Threaded Insert (6) Lower Seal (7) Upper Seal (8) Tea Processing Devices, Pestle/Plastic Knife The three core components stacked up on each other to form a mug are; the Mortar Base (1), the Drinking Chamber (2) and the Lid (4). Components Mortar Base (1) and Drinking Chamber (2) are assembled in a water tight manner by means of a threaded twist fit connection. The Threaded Insert (5) which is integrated into the Mortar Base (1) allows for the connection between Mortar Base (1) and Drinking Chamber (2). The Lower Seal (6) and Upper Seal (7) provides the watertight functionality. Detailed Description In a preferred embodiment the enumerated components get assembled into one multi functional product as per drawing - Figure 1. The three core components stacked up on each other to form a mug are; the Mortar Base (1), the Drinking Chamber (2) (which comprises an integrated Filter (3)) and the Lid (4). A first preferred embodiment the Lid (4) is connected to the Drinking Chamber (2) by means of a threaded twist fit as described in the previous paragraph with use of an Upper Seal (7) to make the connection watertight. In a second preferred embodiment the Lid (4) is interference fit into the Drinking Chamber (2) with the Upper Seal (7) moulding/flexing to form a watertight seal between the Lid (4) and the Drinking Chamber (2). Preferably the Mortar Base (1) is made of wood and is suitable for crushing herbs with the supplied Tea Processing Device - Pestle (8). A Tea Processing Device - Plastic Knife (8) can be used for cutting herbs/fruit. The Tea Processing Devices - Pestle/Plastic Knife (8) can be stored away in the cavity provided between the Mortar Base (1) and Drinking Chamber (2) after use. Preferably the Mortar Base (1) is fitted with a Threaded Insert (5) to provide a receptacle for the Drinking Chamber (2). The receptacle features a thread so that the Drinking Chamber (2) can be connected with a twist fit motion. Preferably the Filter (3) is insert moulded into the Drinking Chamber (2). Preferably Lower Seal (6) and Upper Seal (7) are silicone (food grade) that are required to keep the product watertight.
