Roller press
The invention relates to a roller press for comminuting granular material, comprising two grinding rollers which are mounted rotatably in a machine frame, are driven in an opposed manner and form a roller gap therebetween.
Roller presses of this type are used in particular in the minerals sector for comminuting a bed of granular material, such as, for example, limestone, dolomite, cement clinker or ore. The grinding rollers are subjected to pressures of up to 50 MPa and more during the comminution operation, and therefore the roller surfaces are subject to tremendous wear. Customarily, one of the two grinding rollers is designed as a fixed roller arranged in a fixed position in relation to the machine frame during the comminution and the other grinding roller is designed as a loose roller which is movable (horizontally) transversely with respect to the roller gap. The fixed roller is mounted in fixed bearing blocks and is supported on the machine frame while the loose roller is held in the machine frame in loose bearing blocks. The comminution pressure is transmitted to the loose roller via hydraulic cylinders supported on the machine frame, wherein a predetermined roller gap is maintained via spacers.
The grinding rollers have to be regularly refurbished or exchanged because of the tremendous wear of the roller surfaces, and therefore long shutdown periods have to be accepted. It is therefore endeavored to lengthen the service lives of the roller presses by means of suitable measures.
In EP 2 043 787 B1, it is proposed to design the two grinding rollers as loose rollers which are movable transversely with respect to the roller gap, instead of, as customarily, supporting the one grinding roller as a fixed roller rigidly on the machine frame. During the comminution operation, the two loose rollers then always deviate in a mirror-symmetrical manner with respect to the original roller gap when the grinding material thickness changes or in the event of foreign bodies which cannot be comminuted. The roller deviation movements and the accelerations occurring in the process are intended to be reduced by this measure by up to half per loose roller in comparison to a roller press having a fixed and a loose roller.

It would be advantageous if the present invention would provide i a roller press that is distinguished by a longer service life and/or increased throughputs.
The roller press according to the invention for comminuting granular material comprises two grinding rollers which are mounted rotatably in a machine frame, are driven in an opposed manner and form a roller gap therebetween, wherein one of the two grinding rollers is designed as a fixed roller arranged in a fixed position in relation to the machine frame during the comminution and the other grinding roller is designed as a loose roller which is movable transversely with respect to the roller gap. The fixed roller is positionable on the machine frame at at least two different positions transversely with respect to the roller gap.
This makes it possible for larger roller diameters to be used. If the grinding rollers are worn in diameter to such an extent that the hydraulics for the pressurization can no longer be readjusted further, the fixed roller is positioned on the machine frame in a second position in which the distance from the loose roller is correspondingly reduced. The roller press is therefore ready for use again after a very short time. As a result, a substantially longer service life is possible between the maintenance intervals. In addition, grinding rollers having initially larger diameters (for example 2 m and larger) also permit greater throughputs.
According to a further refinement of the invention, the fixed roller is mounted rotatably in two fixed bearing blocks and the loose roller is mounted rotatably in two loose bearing blocks, wherein the fixed bearing blocks and the loose bearing blocks are connected to upper and lower frame parts of the machine frame. The loose bearing blocks are guided displaceably on the upper and lower frame parts of the machine frame and are supported on first side parts of the machine frame via hydraulic cylinders. The fixed bearing blocks are also expediently guided displaceably on the upper and lower frame parts of the machine frame and are fixable in at least two different positions on the upper and lower frame parts of the machine frame. The fixed bearing blocks can be connected here to the upper and lower frame parts of the machine frame in a force-fitting or form-fitting manner or by a combination of the two types of connection. The fixing of the fixed bearing blocks can be undertaken, for example, by fastening means, in particular screws.

2015238518 30 Jan 2019
Furthermore, at least one fitting key can in each case be provided between the fixed bearing blocks and the upper and lower frame parts of the machine frame. For this purpose, the fixed bearing blocks, for example, comprise first grooves, and the upper and lower frame parts comprise respective second grooves, wherein the first and second grooves are aligned with each other in a first position of the fixed bearing blocks in order to accommodate the fitting keys. The fixed bearing blocks can furthermore comprise at least third grooves which, in a second position of the fixed bearing blocks, are aligned with the second grooves of the upper and lower frame parts in order to accommodate the fitting keys. In a corresponding manner, it is also conceivable for the fixed bearing blocks to comprise first grooves, and for the upper and lower frame parts to comprise respective second grooves, wherein the first and second grooves are aligned with each other in a first position of the fixed bearing blocks in order to accommodate the fitting keys, and wherein the the upper and lower frame parts comprise at least fourth grooves which, in a second position of the fixed bearing blocks, are aligned with the first grooves of the fixed bearing blocks in order to accommodate the fitting keys. A plurality of defined positions of the fixed bearing blocks on the machine frame are possible by means of this groove and afitting key connection.
As an alternative to the above fastening possibility, the fixed bearing blocks can also be supported on second side parts of the machine frame, wherein, for the positioning of the fixed bearing blocks, spacer blocks are provided between the fixed bearing blocks and the second side parts. This variant permits more rapid positioning of the fixed bearing blocks, but a machine frame which is extended by the second side parts has to be accepted.
Ina third variant, for the positioning of the fixed bearing blocks, adjustable cylinders instead of the spacer blocks are provided between the fixed bearing blocks and the second side parts. This permits a particularly rapid and especially also continuous repositioning of the fixed bearing blocks by the cylinders being adjusted, for example, hydraulically, pneumatically, electrically or mechanically. While the exemplary embodiments with the fitting keys and the spacer blocks permit an adjustment of the fixed bearing blocks only during a short shutdown of the roller
8195187_1 (GHMatters) P104006.AJ
2015238518 30 Jan 2019 press, repositioning of the fixed bearing blocks with adjustable cylinders would also be conceivable during the comminution operation.
In the drawing fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of a roller press according to a first exemplary 5 embodiment, fig. 2 shows a schematic top view of the roller press according to fig. 1, fig. 3 shows a schematic side view of a roller press according to a second exemplary embodiment, and fig. 4 shows a schematic side view of a roller press according to a third exemplary embodiment.
The roller press illustrated in figures 1 and 2 for comminuting granular material comprises two grinding rollers which are mounted rotatably in a machine frame 1, are driven in an opposed manner and form a roller gap 2 therebetween, wherein the one grinding roller is designed as a fixed roller 3 arranged in a fixed position in relation to the machine frame 1 during the comminution and the other grinding roller is designed as a loose roller 4 which is movable transversely with respect to the roller gap 2. The fixed roller 3 is mounted rotatably about a roller axis 3a in two fixed bearing blocks 5, 6, and the loose roller 4 is mounted rotatably about a roller axis 4a in two loose bearing blocks 7, 8, wherein the fixed bearing blocks and the loose bearing blocks are connected to upper and lower frame parts 9, 10 of the machine frame.
The loose bearing blocks 7, 8 are guided displaceably on the upper and lower frame parts 9, 10 and are supported on first side parts 12, 13 of the machine frame 1 via hydraulic cylinders 11. The comminution pressure of up to 50 MPa and more is produced via the hydraulic cylinders 11. The roller gap 2 is maintained via spacers (not illustrated specifically). The material to be comminuted is supplied from above via a feed hopper (not illustrated specifically).
The fixed bearing blocks 5, 6 are fixed on the upper and lower frame parts 9, 10 via fastening means 14 (illustrated schematically), for example screws. In order to
8195187_1 (GHMatters) P104006.AJ
2015238518 30 Jan 2019 additionally improve the support, at least one fitting key 15, 16 is in each case provided between the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6 and the upper and lower frame parts 9, 10. For this purpose, first grooves 17, 18 are provided in the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6, in the contact region with the frame parts, and respective second grooves 19,
20 are provided in the upper and lower frame parts, wherein the first and second grooves are aligned with each other in the illustrated first position of the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6 in order to accommodate the fitting keys 15, 16. In addition, the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6 have at least third grooves 21, 22 and 23, 24 which, after the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6 are displaced in the direction of the loose bearing blocks 7, 8, are aligned with the second grooves 19, 20 of the upper and lower frame parts 9, 10 in order to accommodate the fitting keys. In the exemplary embodiment illustrated, the fixed roller can be positioned on the machine frame 1 at three different positions transversely with respect to the roller gap. This permits a longer operation of the roller press before the next maintenance. A horizontal displacement of the fixed roller into a new position on the machine frame is carried out whenever the movement clearance of the hydraulic cylinders 11 no longer suffices because of the wear of the grinding rollers.
Instead of the third grooves 21 to 24 provided in the fixed bearing block, corresponding fourth grooves (not illustrated) can alternatively or additionally be provided in the upper and lower frame parts 9, 10, said fourth grooves then interacting with the first grooves 17, 18 in the fixed bearing block for different positions of the fixed bearing blocks.
Fig. 3 shows a second exemplary embodiment of the invention, in which the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6 are supported on second side parts 25 of the machine frame 1, and, for the positioning of the fixed bearing blocks 5, 6, spacer blocks 26 are provided between the fixed bearing blocks and the second side parts 25. The distance between the roller axes 3a, 4a can be correspondingly adjusted by means of thicker spacer blocks or a greater number thereof. Repositioning of the fixed bearing blocks can be realized very rapidly and simply by means of this embodiment. However, a correspondingly extended machine frame has to be accepted.
