EDITORIAL NOTE 2014101465 There are four pages of description only GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER Device with locking band for Locating Fixed Scaffolds and Mobile Scaffolds and Scaffold Ladders whilst holding Scaffold Identification Tag. May 11, 214 A GPS '/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER Scaffold-locator device that can be securely locked to a fixed position Scaffold or a Mobile Scaffold or a Scaffold Ladder so as to be removable only by using one or more custom mechanical keys and/or resettable software keys/codes. This prevents the Scaffold-locator device from being disabled and being removed from the Scaffold/Scaffold Ladder. The GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER locator comprises of a GPS/RFID Scaff Tag Holder, a connecting band, by which the GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER is attachable to a Scaffold/Scaffold Ladder. The GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER locator also utilizes an extended antenna design to achieve a compact profile for the housing which contains the device's electrical components. Description REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION This application is a Continuation-in-Part of patent 2014101235, which was approved 23rd October 2014. FIELD OF INVENTION The present invention relates to the general field of GPS devices and more particularly to GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER devices for locating Scaffolding and Scaffold Ladders. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Scaffolds and Scaffold ladders must be inspected at regular intervals. Many man hours are consumed in finding Scaffolds and Scaffold Ladders on medium to large building sites. By using GPS the time needed to find Scaffolds and Scaffold Ladders will be dramatically reduced. The prior art in this field discloses several GPS-based locator devices, which are wearable by persons, used in Automobiles and to track assets. These devices generally comprise a GPS receiver and a transmitter component, such as a wireless telephone. Examples of such devices are described in the AUS patent application publications of Jogias Patent & Trade Marks Attorneys 2014101049 and Shelston IP 2011227024, the disclosures of which are incorporated herein by reference.
A major disadvantage of the prior art GPS locator devices is that they can be readily defeated by removing the device, Since the availability of such GPS/RFID locators has been widely publicized, someone wanting to remove the Scaffold or Scaffold Ladder can locate the device and remove it, thereby rendering its tracking function inoperative. Another critical problem of the prior art GPS/RFID locator designs is the need to accommodate wireless telephonic transmission/reception components within a housing that is compact enough to be attached to the Scaffold or Scaffold Ladder without obstructing the Scaffolds or Ladders purpose. The present invention addresses the deficiencies in the prior art GPS/RFID locator devices by providing a device which can be securely locked to a Scaffold or Scaffold Ladder so as to be removable only by using one or more custom mechanical keys and/or resettable software keys/codes. The present invention also utilizes the present need for a secure holder to secure a Scaffold Identification Tag on erected Scaffolds and to track ladders in a Scaffold register. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The locking GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER -based locator device, is made up of a GPS/RFID Scaff Tag Holder, a connecting band, by which the GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER is attached to the Scaffold/Scaffold Ladder, and the GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER. The GPS/RFID Scaff Tag Modules for RFID and GPS are situated on the front face of the GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER. The GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER contains a cellular module, one or more high band antennas in electrical communication with the cellular module and the GPS module, a processing circuit, and a power source. The GPS modules, upon activation, is configured to receive satellite GPS location data for a current location of the locator device and to transmit the GPS location data to the processing circuit, which converts the GPS location date to one or more outgoing locator message signals, in text or audible format, that are sent by the cellular module through one of the high-band or low-band antennas to one or more designated contacts. The GPS module is activated in a response mode, through the processing circuit, by the cellular module in response to a location request, in text or audible format, received through one of the high-band or low-band antennas. The GPS is also activated in a periodic mode by the processing circuit at designated intervals, In order to operate effectively on a wireless telephonic network, the cellular module of the locator device must be capable of transmitting and receiving at both a high frequency and a low-frequency band. Covering 800-5800 MHz, the Tag will operate in all cellular bands globally plus the 2.4 GHz & 5.8 GHz ISM bands. The Scaff GPS/RFID SCAFF TAG HOLDER device will incorporate active GPS antennas and an RFID module. Since the optimal size of an antenna increases in relation to the wavelength of the signals it transmits/receives, effective low-band antennas must be substantially larger than its high-band counterpart.
For maximum tamper-proof security, the GPS/RFID Scaff Tag Holder is preferably made of a high-strength thermoplastic, such as polycarbonate. The connecting band can consist of a high-strength thermoplastic polymer reinforced with a titanium alloy. Both the GPS/RFID Scaff Tag Holder and the connecting band are water proof. The foregoing summarizes the general design features of the present invention. In the following sections, specific embodiments of the present invention will be described in some detail. These specific embodiments are intended to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing the present invention in accordance with the general design features discussed above. Therefore, the detailed descriptions of these embodiments are offered for illustrative and exemplary purposes only, and they are not intended to limit the scope either of the foregoing summary description or of the claims which follow.
