Description

IMPROVED SIMPLE TENT
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved structure of a tent.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Many tents are using an easy folding structure nowadays to achieve folding and unfolding based on the principle like umbrella . Chinese patent publication number CN2568774 discloses a tent structure, including the tent skeleton and fabric surrounding the skeleton. The skeleton is used to set up/support the tent. A supporting frame mounts at the head of the skeleton, the skeleton comprises a centered upper hub and support bars hinged therewith in equal intervals. The supporting frame comprises a centered lower hub and support bars hinged therewith in equal intervals, the outer end of each support bar joins with the upper support bar of the tent. Inside the centered upper and lower hubs, there is a pulling rope and a movable pulley structure, when a user pulls the rope from the centered upper hub, the tent can be easily set up just like folding an umbrella. But the pulling rope is placed on the top of the upper hub according to this tent structure, for the user who is short or for the children, due to their limited maximum stretch of their arms, they will not be able to set up the whole tent even if they achieve the maximum stretch of their arms, which makes operation very inconvenient. Another example is Chinese patent publication number CN101065550. This patent also disclosed an Easy Set-Up Tent, including a tent skeleton and fabric covering the skeleton. The skeleton consists of an umbrella frame and a supporting frame, the umbrella frame also comprises a centered upper hub and covering fabric, the supporting frame comprises the centered lower hub and a supporting bar, there is a rope traction in the position of the center of the upper hub which enables the upper hub to move downward, the rope goes through the hole of the lower hub from the upper hub. This kind of structure also enables easy folding and unfolding like using an umbrella. The operation is simple and the tent is easy to use too. But because of the structure of the rope traction set in the center bottom hole of the head, the user needs to operate it inside and under the tent. It will be very inconvenient for someone who is short, they may not be able to get access to the top of hub (tent) because their arm stretch is limited. Furthermore, in this way the user needs to use one hand to hold the tent center above their head, which means the user has to support the weight of the tent frame and the weight of the covering fabric, so the user needs to have enough physical strength to complete this operation. Women, children and weak people will find this operation very difficult.
SUMMARY
An object of the present invention is to provide more efficient and effortsaving operation of a tent. In particular, the present invention enables short person or a user having weak physical strength to operate (fold and unfold) this tent of the present invention.
This invention has the following technical solution: A tent, including a skeleton and a piece of fabric covering the skeleton, the skeleton comprises an umbrella shaped frame and a supporting frame , the umbrella shaped frame comprises an upper hub and fabric supporting poles hinged with and surrounding the upper hub according to equal intervals, the supporting frame comprises a lower hub and open supporting poles hinged with and surrounding the lower hub according to equal intervals , an outer end of each of the open supporting poles joins with an upper part of a corresponding fabric supporting pole . Inside the upper hub and the lower hub, there is a rope traction system that can make the upper hub move to the lower hub. The characterizing feature of the present invention is that: there is a hole at a side wall of the lower hub, ropes being part of the rope traction system run from the upper hub to the lower hub , then change direction to come out of the hole at the side wall of the lower hub.
The present invention could also be as follows: a center of the lower hub is equipped with a scroll wheel. One end of each rope of the rope traction system is fixed in a center of the upper hub, another end of each rope will drop down through the bottom of the upper hub to the lower hub, then change direction to slide along the scroll wheel, and finally come out of the lower hub through the hole at the side wall of the lower hub.
The present invention can also be as follows: the center of the lower hub is equipped with the scroll wheel, moving pulleys for rope operation are provided in the upper hub, one end of each rope of the rope traction system is fixed in the head cover of the lower hub, another end of each rope will go upward, pass over a respective moving pulley inside the upper hub, then go down through the bottom of the upper hub to a top part of the lower hub , and then slide along the scroll wheel inside the lower hub, and finally come out of the hole at the side wall of the lower hub.
The present invention can also be as follows: the center of the upper hub is equipped with a pair of ropes passing over a pair of rope pulleys inside the upper hub, and one end of each rope is fixed in the head cover of the lower hub, another end of each rope will go upward, pass over a respective moving pulley inside the upper hub, then go down through the bottom of the lower hub to the top part of the lower hub , slide along the scroll wheel inside the lower hub, and finally come out of the hole at the side wall of the lower hub.
The present invention can also be as follows: there are two holes set at the side wall of the lower hub and two scroll wheels, one end each rope is fixed in the head cover of the lower hub, another end of each rope will go upward, pass over a respective moving pulley inside the upper hub, then go down through the bottom of the lower hub to the head cover of the lower hub; the two ropes then change directions to slide along the two scroll wheels inside the lower hub respectively, finally the two ropes will come out of the two holes at the side wall of the lower hub respectively.
The invention can also be as follows: there is a grip provided below the lower hub as an extension part. The grip has protrusions along its annular direction; a bottom side of the upper hub has a convex portion protruding downward. Inside the head cover of the lower hub, there is a groove that fits with the convex portion.
The present invention can also adopt another structure to achieve the same purpose, in particular: there is a rope slide track in the center of the lower hub, one end of each rope of the rope traction system is fixed in the center of the upper hub, another end of each rope goes through the bottom of the upper hub, then through the upper part of the lower hub and then slides along the rope slide track, and finally comes out through the hole at the side wall of the lower hub.
Compared with the existing technology, the invention additionally provides the scroll wheel inside the lower hub, and makes holes at the side wall of the lower hub to change the pulling direction of the ropes. When operating the tent, user can operate the tent from the side of the tent instead of operating under the tent as in the prior arts, tent operation will not be restricted by the height of the user or the arm length of the user; in addition, due to adopting the pulling force of the ropes from one side, there is no need to push against the tent (covered fabric and the skeleton) when folding and unfolding the tent. For this reason, only very little strength is required to set up the tent so that the tent can be easily operated even by women or children; there is a grip at the bottom of the lower hub, the grip facilitates gripping while pulling the ropes, and it also saves more energy when unfolding the tent. Also, the grip can serve as a pull-down handle when folding the tent. When a user wants to fold the tent, hold the grip to make a drag down, then the upper hub and the lower hub can be quickly separated, then fold the poles connected under the hubs. The folding and unfolding of tent can be more convenient and effort-saving.

EMBODIMENTS
Please refer to figure 1 to figure 5, the figures show an integral structure of the tent and illustration of the process of unfolding the tent from a folded condition, the tent comprises a skeleton and a piece of fabric covering the skeleton (not shown in picture), the skeleton comprises an umbrella shaped frame for unfolding the covering fabric and a supporting bracket inside the umbrella shaped frame for unfolding the umbrella shaped frame, the umbrella shaped frame comprises an upper hub (1 in figure 1) and fabric supporting poles ( 3 in figure 1) hinged with and surrounding the upper hub (1 in figure 1). The supporting bracket comprises a lower hub (2 in figure 1) and open supporting poles ( 4 in figure 1) hinged with and surrounding the lower hub ( 2 in figure 1) , an outer end of each of the open supporting poles (4 in figure 1) is hinged with an upper part of a corresponding fabric supporting pole(3 in figure 1), a bottom part of the upper hub (1 in figure 1) has a convex portion (5 in figure 1) protruding downward. There is a groove (6 in figure 1) on a cover of the lower hub 2 matching with the convex portion 5, a center of the lower hub is equipped with a scroll wheel 21, a side wall of the lower hub 2 has a hole 22, there is rope traction system between the upper hub 1 and the lower hub 2 for moving the upper hub 1 toward the lower hub 2. In the center of the upper hub 1, there is a pair of movable pulleys 11 which could be passed over by a pair of ropes 7. One end of each rope is fixed in the lower hub 2, another end of each rope extends upward to pass over a respective movable pulley 11, and then drops down to and out of the convex portion 5 of the upper hub 1, then runs through the center of the lower hub 2 to slide along the scroll wheel 21 inside the lower hub 2, and finally comes out through the hole 22 at the side wall of the lower hub 2. Below the lower hub 2, a grip 23 is provided as an extension part, the grip 23 can be used as a handle while pulling the rope 7, it will make unfolding of the tent easier. At the same time the grip 23 can also serve as a handle while folding the tent. To fold the tent, the user just needs to hold the grip 23 and make a drag downward, the upper hub 1 and the lower hub 2 can be quickly separated, then release the lower hub 2 and its corresponding open supporting poles 4 to fold the tent easily.
In this invention, because the direction of pulling force imposed on the rope 7 is a transverse pulling force, it can make tent set-up effortless for all kinds of people. The previous traction system was operated with vertical pulling force, which will be harder than transverse pulling force.
At the same time, the invention can be implemented according to other embodiments:
Embodiment 2: as shown in figure 6, the present invention can eliminate the movable pulleys in the upper hub 1, then let one end of each rope 7 be fixed to the upper hub 1, another end of each rope extends out of a bottom side of upper hub, then runs through the center of the lower hub 2 to slide along the scroll wheel 21 inside the lower hub 2, and then comes out through the hole 22 at the side wall of the lower hub 2. In this embodiment, due to the lack of pulleys in the center of the upper hub 1, user needs more strength to operate the tent, but compared with the existing technology, changing the rope traction way to transverse pulling, small or weak women can also achieve convenient operation, user will save some effort on operation.
Embodiment 3: the present invention can reduce the number of movable pulleys 11 from two movable pulleys 11 to just one movable pulley 11.
Accordingly, only one rope 7 is required. Other structures remain the same. This embodiment can also achieve the aim of this invention.
Embodiment 4: the lower hub 2 can be provided with two holes 22 at two opposite sides of the lower hub. One end of each rope 7 is still fixed in the center of the lower hub 2, another end of each rope goes up to pass over the respective movable pulley 11 inside the upper hub1, then dropping downward, comes out of the bottom of the upper hub 1, and then passes through the center of the head cover of the lower hub 2; the two ropes 7 then slide along two scroll wheels 21 respectively wherein the two scroll wheels are disposed in 2 opposite directions, then the two ropes 11 come out of the two holes 22 respectively. This structure is proposed to minimize the problem of shaking during tent operation because of the eccentric force while pulling the ropes.
Embodiment 5: as shown in figure 7, the invention also can be used when it is equipped with a rope slide track 210, replacing the above scroll wheel 21; one end of each rope is fixed in the center of the upper hub, another end of each rope will come out of upper hub, then go through an upper part of the lower hub, slide along the rope slide track 210, then come out of the hole on the side wall of the lower hub. Although the scroll wheel is better in saving effort, this embodiment could achieve the same aim of the invention.
