BACKGROUND [0002] The vehicle (e.g., cars, trucks, planes, boats, etc.) is an integral part of the modem economy. Unfortunately, fossil fuels, like oil, used to power automobiles have numerous drawbacks including: a dependence on limited foreign sources for these fossil 10 fuels, pollution, and climate change. One solution to these problems is to increase the fuel economy of automobiles. Recently, gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles have been introduced, which have fuel economies that are substantially higher than the fuel economy of their traditional non-hybrid counterparts. However, hybrid vehicles do not eliminate the need for fossil fuels. 15 100031 Another solution to these problems is to use clean engine technologies such as engines powered by fuel cells or batteries. However, many of these clean engine technologies are not yet practical. For example, fuel cell vehicle are still in the development stage and are expensive. Similarly, battery technology has not advanced to the point where batteries can power electric vehicles for long distances. Batteries are costly and may add as 20 much as 40% to the cost of a vehicle. Furthermore, batteries can take many hours to recharge. 100041 Accordingly, it would be highly desirable to provide a vehicle that addresses one or more of the above described drawbacks. Furthermore, the cost of the electric vehicle can be substantially reduced because the battery of the electric vehicle is no longer an integral part of the vehicle. Thus, the battery can be owned by a party other than the user of the vehicle. 1. A service control center for servicing electrical vehicles, the service control 5 center comprising: a processor associated with a database comprising information about battery service stations, said processor being connectable via a network to processor units of the electrical vehicles, and configured and operable to: communicate with a processor unit of at least one of the electrical vehicles to 10 exchange data comprising data indicative of a geographical location of the vehicle and data indicative of a battery status of said vehicle, utilize said database to identify at least one battery service station for servicing the vehicle in accordance with its geographical location and the battery status, communicate data indicative of said at least one battery service station to the 15 electrical vehicle processor unit, thereby enabling a user of the vehicle to select the battery service station for servicing the vehicle.
2. A service control center according to claim 1, wherein the battery status data comprises data indicative of a battery charge level. 20
3. A service control center according to claim 2, wherein the battery status data comprises data indicative of at least one of the following: age of the battery, number of charge cycles of the battery, and number of discharge cycles of the battery. 25
4. A service control center according to claims 2 or 3, wherein said data indicative of the battery charge level is indicative of whether the battery charge level is below a specified threshold.

A service control center according to any one of claims 7 to 10, wherein the 5 battery service station module is configured and operable to identify the at least one battery service station located within a maximum distance from the geographic location of the vehicle and being available for servicing the vehicle, the availability being determined at least in part based on a status of the battery service station. 10

A service control center according to any one of claims I to 13, wherein the processor is configured and operable to receive user selection of at least one battery service station and communicate with said at least one battery service station to determine a status of the battery service station.
15 15. A service control center according to any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein the processor is configured and operable to place a reservation at the at least one identified battery service station for servicing said vehicle.
16. A service control center according to any one of claims 7 to 15, wherein the 20 battery service station module is configured and operable to track and record status of one or more battery service stations and generate data indicative thereof.

A service control center according to claim 16, wherein the data indicative of the battery service station status comprises at least one of the following indications: 25 a number of occupied service stations; a number of available or free service stations; and a location of the selected available battery service station.
18. A service control center according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein 30 the processor is configured and operable to manage account information for users of the vehicles. 41 )oc Id: 13396537.1
19. A service control center according to claim 18, wherein the processor is connectable to an account database that includes account information of users of the vehicles.

A computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs 5 configured for execution by one or more computers, said one or more programs being configured and operable to carry out the following: in response to data indicative of a status of a battery of an electric vehicle, determine whether a charge level of the battery is below a predetermined threshold; determine a maximal distance that the vehicle can travel with a status of the battery, 10 the status of the battery being defined by at least a charge level of the battery; identify at least one battery service station within said maximal distance from a geographic location of the vehicle; and notify a user of the vehicle about said at least one identified battery service station, and enable the user to select a battery service station for servicing the vehicle. 15
21. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 20, wherein the data indicative of the battery status comprises data indicative of at least one of the following: age of the battery, number of charge cycles of the battery, and number of discharge cycles of the battery. 20
22. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 20 or 21, wherein said one or more programs are configured and operable to track the geographic location of the vehicle. 25
23. The computer readable storage medium according to any one of claims 20 to 22, wherein said one or more programs are configured and operable to identify status of at least one battery service station from said at least one identified battery service stations.
24. The computer readable storage medium according to any one of claims 20 to 30 23, wherein said one or more programs are configured and operable for managing account information for users of the vehicles. 42 )oc Id: 13396537.1

A service control center comprising a computer comprising said computer readable storage medium of any one of Claims 20 to 24, and connectable to the computers of electric vehicles via a communication network, thereby enabling execution of said one or more programs via communication with processor units in said computers of electric vehicles 5 over said network.

An electric vehicle comprising a computer comprising a processor unit and said computer readable storage medium of any one of Claims 20 to 24, said computer being connectable to a service control center via a communication network thereby enabling 10 execution of said one or more programs via communication between the processor unit of the electric vehicle and a processor of the service control center over said network.

An electric vehicle comprising: a positioning module for determining current position of the vehicle; 15 a battery status module for determining at least a charge status of a battery of the vehicle and generating battery status data; a user interface module; a communication module for communicating via at least one communication network with at least one of the following: a service control center and at least one battery service 20 station; and a processor unit configured and operable for receiving data from the battery status module and from the positioning module and obtaining data indicative of at least one battery service station located within a maximal distance from the current position of the vehicle which the vehicle can travel with said charge status of the battery, and generating notification 25 to a user of the vehicle about said at least one battery service station, thereby enabling the user to make a selection of a battery service station.
28. The electric vehicle according to claim 27, wherein said obtaining of the data indicative of at least one battery service station comprises processing the battery status data 30 by said processor unit.

The electric vehicle according to claim 27 or 28, wherein said obtaining of the data indicative of at least one battery service station comprises communicating with a service 43 )oc Id: 13396537.1 control center for transmitting the battery status data and receiving the data indicative of at least one battery service station.
