Abstract The 3Du application works as an independently-hosted technology that retailer's embed in their website. Once embedded the 3Du application functions automatically, providing the following benefits: * Customers can view products in 3D presented on a stylized Avatar that matches their body style and measurements. * Users can customize their Avatar's appearance, encouraging playful engagement with the retailer's online store. The customer can rotate their Avatar 3600 to see products from various angles. * Based upon their selections, the customer receives visual, animated feedback about garment fit and compatibility of accessories. For the customer, using the 3Du application is a seamless, easy part of their shopping experience. They simply click a 'try-it-on' button when they see it on the retailer's site. Without leaving the page they are on, the fitting-room appears with helpful enticements to guide their browsing and increase the likelihood of purchase satisfaction. When the customer returns to the retailer's site, 3Du automatically remembers their last visit as well as their personal details, providing shortcuts so they can pick up where they left off. EDITORIAL NOTE 2012100999 There are 2 Pages of Description 1 Description As simply as web designers put tools like Google maps onto websites, online retailers can paste a 'try it on' button directly onto their product page. When the button is clicked the product page turns into a 3D fitting-room. Once inside the fitting-room, shoppers can render themselves as an avatar by entering physical attributes such as hair colour, skin tone, eye colour, body type, height, waist, hip and inseam measurements and then try on different sized clothing in 3D. When shoppers tries on a particular size, the fitting-room gives them feedback. If the size is incorrect, the app encourages them to try again - rewarding them when the fit is right. The app increases the chances of a customer purchasing an item that fits, and in so doing reduces the costs associated with returns.
