Description

Pool Section 29 Regulation 3.2(2) AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT Application Number: Lodged: Invention Title: Electric Lamp with an Outer Bulb and a Built-in Lamp The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to us: 2009P06210AU - 1 Title: Electric lamp with an outer bulb and a built-in lamp Technical field 5 The invention is based on a lamp in accordance with the precharacterizing clause of claim 1. The invention relates in particular to an electric lamp comprising a built-in lamp arranged in an outer bulb and a base, wherein the base is connected electrically conductively to power supply wires of 10 the built-in lamp. The invention furthermore relates to an electric lamp with a base at one end and with an outer bulb held in a base and at least one built-in lamp arranged within the outer bulb. Such halogen incandescent lamps are envisaged in particular for operation at a high voltage (HV) of typically 15 from 100 to 250 V. Prior art DE-A 10 2005 051 076 has disclosed a holder for a built-in 20 lamp, which comprises a metallic mounting clip, into which the built-in lamp is inserted. The mounting clip is fitted on the vitreous plate-like stand of the outer bulb, which is very complicated, however, since the vitreous stand represents a very complex component part which comprises, for example, an 25 exhaust tube and fuse-sealed power supply wires. Description of the invention The object of the present invention is to make it possible to 30 mount a built-in lamp on a plate-like stand with as short a physical length as possible. This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. 35 Particularly advantageous configurations are given in the dependent claims.
2009P06210AU - 2 The invention provides for the simple manufacture of a lamp, comprising a built-in lamp, a base and an outer bulb. The invention provides for an electric lamp with a base at one end 5 and with an outer bulb, which is fastened on a base, and a built-in lamp, which is arranged within the outer bulb, it being possible for said lamp to be produced in a robust and simple manner. Preferably, the built-in lamp is a high-voltage halogen incandescent lamp with a pin-type base, wherein at 10 least two pins act as power supply wires. The built-in lamp comprises substantially a hermetically sealed lamp vessel, at least one light-emitting means and a power supply system for the light-emitting means, which power supply 15 system generally has two outer power supply lines, which protrude axially parallel out of a pinch seal of the built-in lamp. The light-emitting means is normally a light-emitting element, but may also be a discharge arc between two electrodes. The light-emitting means will always be described 20 below as a light-emitting element, for reasons of simplicity. Said light-emitting element is connected to the outer power supply lines via inner power supply lines and possibly foils. The power supply system connects the light-emitting element 25 arranged in the interior of the lamp vessel to a base, which is arranged outside the lamp vessel and is intended to be connected to a current source. The power supply system comprises, for example, inner power supply wires, fuse-seal foils and outer power supply wires, wherein the ends of the 30 inner and outer power supply wires, which ends are aligned with respect to one another, and the fuse-seal foils, which connect the power supply wires to one another, are fuse-sealed in the lamp pinch seal. Only the pinch seal and the wires of the outer power supply lines, said wires protruding outwards from said 35 pinch seal, are relevant for the invention. The built-in lamp is generally filled with an inert gas and a halogen additive. However, it is also possible to use a high-pressure discharge 2009PO6210AU - 3 lamp as the built-in lamp instead of an incandescent lamp, similar to as described in DE-A 32 32 207. The concept of the invention consists in achieving a much more 5 compact design by virtue of the fact that the outer power supply lines of the built-in lamp are not connected directly to the base, as has been conventional to date, but via a mounting clip, which so to speak folds the connection path and therefore shortens the length of the lamp. For this purpose, the outer 10 power supply lines of the built-in lamp end as bent-back wires, The mounting clip makes contact with a wire preferably via a contact part. In addition, the mounting clip has a hollow rail, which is 15 connected to the contact part via a frame part. This hollow rail is connected via a clip connection, to a base pin or base contact, which is guided thereto from the base and which protrudes upwards out of a plate-like stand. 20 It is essential for shortening the physical length that there is a section plane in which the four electrical feed lines, namely the two outer power supply lines and the associated base contacts, do not have any physical contact with one another. Instead, this contact is produced in each case by the mounting 25 clip. The novel mounting clip has, as essential components, a contact pad for the outer power supply line on the contact part, a frame part acting as a connection and a hollow rail, which is 30 connected to the contact part via the frame part. In its basic configuration, the frame part is configured as a sheet-metal part which is bent in the form of an L, wherein the first side of the L ends at the hollow rail. The second side of 35 the L is bent substantially at a right angle with respect thereto and preferably bears the contact pad for the power 2009PO6210AU - 4 supply line. The configuration of the L is matched to a broad side and a narrow side of the pinch seal of the built-in lamp. Preferably, the first side of the frame part is at least so 5 long that it corresponds to half the width of the broad side of the pinch seal of the built-in lamp. The second side of the L is preferably dimensioned such that it substantially corresponds to the width of the narrow side of the pinch seal of the built-in lamp. Preferably, in this case the pinch seal 10 in accordance with the known H, double-T or I shape is equipped with broader narrow sides, which protrude in the manner of beads. Preferably, one or both sides of the L are configured in the 15 manner of a window frame, i.e. substantially a rectangle, the inside of which is cut out to save on materials. The rectangle does not absolutely have to be planar, but may be corrugated in order to improve stability or be matched to the shape of the H or I of the pinch seal. 20 In this case, the contact part is substantially preferably an extension of the frame part, directed substantially downwards, preferably angled slightly inwards. Preferably, the contact part rests as a lug on the second side. In this case downwards 25 means pointing from the pinch seal towards the base. Preferably, the outer power supply line of the built-in lamp is bent back outwards in such a way that it bears against the contact part on the inside. 30 The hollow rail runs axially parallel to the built-in lamp. It rests on an end region of the first side of the mounting clip. It is U-shaped in cross section with two limbs and a bottom part lying therebetween and rests integrally with a first limb 35 of the U on the first side of the frame part. In this case, this first limb is bent back approximately at right angles from the plane of the frame part. The hollow rail is matched in such 2009P06210AU - 5 a way that it tightly surrounds the base contact, which protrudes out of a plate-like stand upwards, towards the built in lamp. 5 For fixing purposes, the hollow rail can be interrupted in the region of the second limb, which is free, with the result that a clamping piece is released from the substance of the second free limb, said clamping piece being capable of being inclined inwards, towards the base contact, and therefore being capable 10 of being pressed against the base contact. In a preferred embodiment, the frame part in this case ends at the second free limb. However, the possibility of it being extended beyond the hollow rail is not excluded. The frame part 15 bears substantially at least against a broad side and a narrow side of the pinch seal. In a preferred embodiment, the frame part is extended further still, with the result that it completely rounds off the narrow 20 side and extends in addition as far as part of the second broad side, which is opposite the first broad side. In this case, the principle shape of an L is extended to form a modified U with limbs of different length. This third side, which should preferably be interpreted as a short limb of this modified U, 25 is bent back from the narrow side towards the second broad side. Preferably, this third side of the frame, which points towards the second broad side, has a spring lug. It is preferably bent back again at its free end, with the result that it rests with this protruding end on a knob, which 30 protrudes out of the pinch seal. The third side can be configured in the form of a strip, wherein the spring lug is attached to an end of the strip in the manner of a boom. Preferably, likewise at least one spring lug, which is directed 35 towards the associated narrow side of the pinch seal, rests on the second side of the frame part. These spring lugs impart a clamping hold of the mounting clip on the pinch seal. The 2009P06210AU - 6 electrical contact between the power supply line and the contact element is preferably ensured or improved by means of welding. The same applies to the connection between the base contact and the hollow rail. 5 Particularly preferably, two identical mounting clips are used, which each connect a base contact to an outer power supply line. The clips are joined to the pinch seal of the built-in lamp. Spring lugs fix and hold the clip in the correct position 10 on the pinch seal of the built-in lamp. A spring lug latches in a knob of the broad side of the pinch seal. The power supply lines of the built-in lamp, which power supply lines are bent back in the form of a U or in arcuate fashion and are preferably bent up outwards slightly, make contact with the 15 contact element of the clip, preferably in the direction towards the narrow side of the pinch seal. The structural unit comprising the clips and the built-in lamp is then joined to the base contacts of the plate-like stand. However, the plate like stand is not absolutely necessary as such in this form. It 20 can also be replaced by another fixing means for the base contacts with the same function. Brief description of the drawings 25 The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to a plurality of exemplary embodiments. In the figures: 30 figure 1 shows an exploded drawing of a lamp according to the invention; figure 2 shows a plate-like stand with a clip in a side view; figure 3 shows a perspective illustration of the electrically connected component parts of the lamp using two 35 clips; figure 4 shows a plan view from above (4a) and from below (4b) of the mounting clip; 2009P06210AU - 7 figure 5 shows a side view of the mounting clip on the broad side (5a) and on the narrow side (5b); figure 6 shows a detail of the clip and the pinch seal; figure 7 shows an L-shaped clip with contact element on the 5 broad side compared with the U-shaped clip. Preferred embodiment of the invention Figures 1 to 3 show a lamp 1 according to the invention. 10 Figure 1 illustrates the lamp in an exploded illustration. An outer bulb 6 of the type A55 is held in a base 5 of the conventional type E27. A built-in lamp 2 is arranged within the outer bulb 6 in such a way that a light-emitting element 3 of the built-in lamp 2 is located approximately at the point 15 within the outer bulb 6 at which the light-emitting element is likewise arranged in a conventional incandescent lamp.. The built-in lamp 2 is in the form of a so-called high-voltage halogen incandescent lamp and is known as such from the prior art. 20 The built-in lamp 2 has a longitudinal axis A and is connected mechanically to a plate-like stand 4, out of which pin-like base contacts 4a, 4b protrude. Said base contacts are connected to the actual base feedlines 44a, 44b. 25 The built-in lamp 2 is, for example, a halogen incandescent lamp with a pinch seal at one end and with a lamp vessel 10. The light-emitting element 3 is connected electrically conductively to the base 5 via a power supply system. The power 30 supply system comprises inner power supply wires 11, which are connected to the light-emitting element 3, fuse-seal foils 12 and outer power supply wires 13, which are bent back laterally slightly in the form of a U. Those ends of the inner power supply wires 11 which are remote from the light-emitting 35 element 3, the fuse-seal foils 12 and those ends of the outer power supply wires 13 which face the fuse-seal foils are fuse sealed in a pinch seal 14, which closes off the lamp vessel 10.
2009P06210AU - 8 The pinch seal 14 preferably has a so-called double-T configuration, with two narrow sides 18, two broad sides 19 and with a projecting bead 17 on the lateral edges of the narrow sides. 5 The lamp vessel 10 is filled with an inert gas and halogen additive. The lamp vessel 10 is fused off at its end which is opposite the pinch seal 14. The lamp vessel 10 is sealed hermetically tightly with respect to the outside. 10 The built-in lamp 2 is held by two mounting clips 20 (see figures 3 to 5) . The two mounting clips 20 are preferably identical, but do not necessarily need to be so. Each mounting clip has a contact pad 21 for the outer power supply line 13, 15 which is substantially in the form of a lug. Each clip 20 comprises a sheet-metal strip, which is bent substantially in the form of a U. It has a first side 22, which is arranged approximately parallel to a first broad side 19 of 20 the pinch seal, a second side 23, which runs approximately parallel to a narrow side 18 of the pinch seal, and a third side 24, which in turn is arranged approximately parallel to the second broad side 19 of the pinch seal. The first side 22 can be interpreted, when seen from above (figure 4a), as the 25 first, long limb of a U. The third side 24 is the second, short limb of the U. The second side 23 is the bottom of the U. The free end of the first limb is shaped to form a hollow rail 30, which is configured in the form of a U in cross section. 30 The first side wall 31 of the hollow rail is attached, in a manner in which it is bent back directly through approximately 900, to a frame part 15 of the first side 22. A covering wall 32, which is arranged approximately parallel to the frame part 15, is attached to said side wall. The second side wall 33, 35 which is again bent back towards the plane of the frame part, is attached to said covering wall 32. The hollow rail 30 can also have a continuous curvature, with the result that there is 2009P06210AU - 9 a flowing transition between the side walls and the covering wall. The hollow rail 30 has a thread-in aid 29 at its lower end, said thread-in aid being extended in the form of a skirt. 5 In the exemplary embodiment shown, the second side wall 33 and part of the covering wall 32 are incomplete. A relatively large cutout 40 is provided approximately in the center, with a clamping part 34 protruding out of said cutout 40 into the channel formed by the hollow rail 30 at an angle. The point of 10 the clamping part 34 is to provisionally hold the base contact 4a or 4b which has been inserted into the channel of the hollow rail. The mounting clip 20 also has a second frame part 36 on its 15 second side 23, said second frame part 36 primarily being two spring parts 37. The second frame part 36 in this case has two transverse struts 39 and 40. The spring lugs 37 are positioned on the upper transverse strut 39 at the lower edge and extend transversely with respect thereto, with the result that they 20 can exert pressure on the narrow side of the pinch seal and thereby fix the clip 20. The clip 20 also has a latching spring 28 on its third side 24, said latching spring 28 pressing against the second broad side 25 19 of the pinch seal and interacting there with a protruding knob 27 (see figure 6), with the result that it improves the fixing and adjustment of the clip 20 together with the spring parts 37. in this way, it is possible to produce a reliable connection of the structural unit comprising the built-in lamp 30 and the clip 20, which can then be plugged onto the plate-like stand 4 with the base pins da, 4b. In this case, the base pins are inserted into the hollow rails 30 and welded there, preferably by means of laser welding. 35 The third side 24 has in principle an axially parallel strip 51, with the latching spring 28 being attached to the first end thereof laterally in the form of a boom. A 2009P06210AU - 10 projection 52 is bent back laterally at the second end of said strip 51, with the result that the projection on the pinch seal engages around the bead 17. 5 The first side 22 is corrugated in such a way that the bead 17 of the pinch seal is surrounded by said first side and can be surrounded by the hollow rail 30 approximately in the center of the broad side of the pinch seal of the base contact 4a positioned in front thereof. 10 In a further exemplary embodiment as shown in figure 7 on the left hand side, the mounting clip 50 in principle has a similar configuration to that in the first exemplary embodiment. However, in this case there is no third side, with the result 15 that the clip is only bent in the form of an L, comprising the first side wall 22 and the second side wall 23. The contact platelet 55 in this case rests on the first side wall 22. Correspondingly, the outer power supply line 13 must then also be bent back in this direction. A three-part clip 20, as 20 described above, is shown in the background. Such clips are mounted in such a way that the two clips 20 are joined onto the pinch seal of the built-in lamp, wherein spring lugs and latching springs ensure the fixing and precise 25 adjustment. In this case, the outer power supply lines of the built-in lamp, which are bent up in the form of a U, bear against the contact platelets 21. This structural unit is then joined onto the base contacts 4a and 4b, which protrude on the plate-like stand 4. In this case, the base contacts 4a and 4b 30 are fitted into the hollow rail 30 and held there possibly provisionally by the clamping part 34. A permanent connection between the clip 20 and the base contact 4a, 4b is produced by means of laser welding, resistance 35 welding etc. in the region of the hollow rail 30. The joining of the base contacts 4a, 4b is in this case facilitated by the run-in bevels 29 as thread-in aid, which at the same time have 2009P6210AU - 11 a centering effect. Thus, a force-fitting and electrically safe connection is produced. In a similar manner, the connection between the outer power supply line and the contact pad 21 is welded by means of a laser etc. Overall, the advantage of this 5 fitting technology is a favorable, stable, precise and space saving fastening of the built-in lamp in an outer bulb, primarily using a plate-like stand fuse seal or a similar technology, which enables fixing of the ends of the base contacts. A short physical length of the entire lamp is thus 10 ensured. Note: The latching springs and spring lugs and clamping parts are parts with similar functions, but with different definitions. 15 The essential features of the invention in the form of a numbered list are as follows: 1.
