Description

AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Too Much Touch The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me.
Title of the Invention Too Much Touch Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a modified form of the game of touch rugby. 5 Background of the Invention Touch rugby refers to a form of game derived from rugby football in which players do not tackle in the traditional, highly physical way, but instead touch their opponents using their hands on any part of the body, clothing, or the ball. .0 A formal, competitive variety, known as Touch was developed from rugby league and now exists as a sport in its own right. In addition, touch rugby games are played as training activities for rugby league and rugby union, as safer variants of rugby, particularly in schools and junior clubs, and as an informal social sport. There are a number of limitations in the present forms of this game including 15 restrictive rules which hinder the free flow and excitement at both social and competitive levels of the game. It is an object of the present invention to provide a modified form of touch rugby. 1 Summary of the Invention The present invention provides a method of playing a game of touch rugby comprising about seven players from each side wherein one of the players is 5 a marker. Preferably, a player is allowed to kick at any touch. Preferably, the advantage rule applies. Preferably, a 15-15 rule applies. In another aspect, the present invention provides a game of touch rugby comprising about seven players from each side wherein one of the players is a marker. Detailed Description of the invention The present invention provides a modified form of touch rugby. 15 Rules: 1. The game consists of about seven players on each side. The size of the field is about 70m x 40m. 2. A player may kick the ball from any touch without any limitations. 2 3. 40/20 Rule, similar rule to the rugby league 40/20 kicking rule where the attacking team kicks inside their 40m line and the ball bounces and rolls out in the defenders 20m line, the attacking team receives the scrum feed. The TOO MUCH TOUCH rule will be a 15/15, ie, if the ball is kicked within the attackers 5 15m line & bounces before rolling out in the defenders 15m line, the attacking team regains possession with a new set of six touches. 4. Marker. The Marker is allowed in this form of the game. During the play-the ball a player from the defending team, called the Marker, stands directly in front of the player playing the ball. .0 5. The defending team must make an effort to move off the try line when defending on the try line. 6. Ball from Drop "kick-off" can be caught on bounce. 7. Advantage. If the ball falls down during a pass, the game plays advantage. 8. Dummy half. The dummy half is allowed to be touched and allowed to score a i5 try. In one embodiment, the game is played on a field size of about 70m x 40m. The game may be marked for playing across a normal size rugby field. 3 The game may be played with five, six or seven players. In one embodiment, the number of players is seven. More or less players may play the game. There is no limitation of number of reserves and substitutes. The terms such as drop kick off, marker, dummy half and advantage have the 5 normal meaning of the words as commonly used in the art. The game as described above is modified from the standard form of touch rugby to enable free flow of the game and provide excitement to both players and spectators. The game may be varied and the rules modified to suit playing conditions. .0 Accordingly, it is to be understood that the embodiments of the invention herein described are merely illustrative of the application of the principles of the invention. 15 4
