Description

A ustralian Patents Act 1990 - Regulation 3.2 Original Complete Specification Standard Patent Subject to the provisions of the Patents Act, information provided on this form may be made publicly avellable, Including on the Intemet. Invention Title Shade Sail/Structure Hem I Edging Tape . ~ ~ ....... - - . .
The following statement is a full description of th is invention, including the best method of performing known to me: At present when PVC/waterproof shade sails I structures are manufactured, the hem/perimeter edge is marked out with an extra 50-150mm to be turned back on itself to form the hem pocket. In doing this, any edge performed across the bias of the material will always end with unsightly stress wrinkles in the hem pocket- This is due to the stretch of the material working in two different ways f against each other. With my invention, the tape provided is made with PVC/waterproof fabric cut down the salvage edge of the PVC/waterproof cloth, which makes the stretch of the material even all the way down any edge of the hem. The tape I have designed comes with relieving slits and holes every 250mm to ensure easy fitting to high percentage catenary curves used in sails or other shade struGtures. The relieving slits are also stepped in 10mm from the stitch-line so the edge tape can be double sided & taped onto the cut sail for easy welding/sewing. The edge tape will come in varying sizes according to the hem wire needed for a particular job i; 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm etc and larger if needed. The edge tape can be manufactured out of any PVC/waterproof material and in any colour, It is expected that the edging tape will out manufacturers labour time in half and present a flat, neat-looking sail edge on each and every shade sail / structure. Claims (4)

1. The shade sail / structure edging tape is to be manufactured using any PVC/waterproof fabric._It ia to be cut & folded over down the salvageedge of the material to ensure stretch is equal under load. This will ensure the, -reviously visible, stress wrinkles are eradicated down edges of the PVC/waterproof sails / shade structures,
2. The shade sail structure edging tape comes already relieved (because of the slits and holes in the the design) in even intervals to give a professional finish to tensioned shade sail / structure membranes. .The edging tape gives shade sail / structure manufacturers a quick, unique & effective way to smooth out I eradicate the wrinkles which appear onthe.bias edge when making PVC/waterproof sails I structures.
4. It is envisioned that the edging tape be manufactured in varying sizes according to hem-wire size, be made into rope-like rolls and to be made in multiple colours, as re_guired
5. The edging tape is tobe made from all varieties of PVC/waterproof fabric sewn/welded together along the sides for maximum tensioning and durability, 6 The edging tape will be easy to clean, will roll up for easy, neat and tidy storage. *Note: If there is Insufficient space above to type the statement of claim, do not use this sheet, but use seperate sheets of paper beginning with the words "The claims defining the invention are as follows:". P00011 (07C9)- Psge 2 of 2 ABN 38 113 072 755 The claims defining the Invention are as follows: Abstracts: The disclosed shade sail I structure hem / edging tape. 1. 5mm relIeving hole punched through both sides of the PVC / waterproof fabric 2. Rope used to form pocket for wire in edge of sail 3. PVC / waterproof material used - any colour and any g/m2 4. UV resistant PTFE stitch line 5. Shade structure membrane to which edge tape is to be attached . Relieving cut in tape with this and the 5mm hole the tape is easily used on all catena cue steep r haw Note: If there is insufficient space above to type the statement of claim, do not use this sheet, but use seperate sheets of paper beginning with the words "The claims defining the invention are as follows:". 1 (0709) - Page 2 of 2 ABN 3B 113 072 755?
