Description

1 PERSONAL ALERTING DEVICE Systems using GSM/GPS/Satellite technology for Monitoring/Controlling/Tracking purposes, have Time/Location/Portability limitations, imposed mainly by their power requirements. This invention largely off-sets these limitations and in the process sends a periodic 'Assurance Signal' to the 'User', confirming the operational status of the system. 5 The invention can be a 'Stand Alone' device, or may be incorporated into equipment at manufacture, e.g. Motorcars, Motorcycles, Boats, Caravans, Laptops etc. Personal Alerting Device (hereafter referred to as "Device") uses common general knowledge I'l'/Wireless/Biluetooth/Satellite/GPS/Cell Phone technology. The "Device" will send phone calls 10 to pre-programmed phone numbers(satellitc/cell/landline) when activated by a signal from a sensor or internally generated clock signal -'System Check' (see Page 2). The Cell Phone Circuitry is turned 'ON', only when activated by a signal received from a sensor via the "Device"s Wireless/Bluetooth detector (see Page 2), or 'System Check'. 15 The "Device" will be a cheap, small, portable, low running cost, monitoring/controlling /tracking unit, when used in conjunction with auxiliary sensors and/or equipment that are Wireless/Blluetooth compatible with it. The proposed method of operation obviates the necessity of choosing between a large 20 battery, or short operating time. The "Device" will be programmable to send a phone call to one or more telephone numbers. 25 The "Device" can be used for the most simple of applications involving one sensor/switch, or very sophisticated systems using many sensors, such as; PTR, AUDIO, CAMERA, VIDEO, SMOKE DETECTORS, OPS UNIT, etc. The "Device" can be incorporated into existing systems, covering the cost/needs of a large range of private, commercial and industrial users. 30 The "Device" will be able to differentiate between signals sent from each sensor and relay data to/from user's phone. Phone call from "Device" or known 'System Check' time, will allow 'User' to know when 35 Cell Phone circuitry is 'ON', and that "Device" is operational. "Device" and/or sensor(s)/equipment can be programmed from ANY phone while Cell Phone circuitry is 'ON'. User has to know "Device" phone number and password, in order to communicate with "Device" 40 "Device" requires telecommunications provider and SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card to operate. Basic Electronic Circuitry shown as an example only. Diagrams I and 2 included for clarity of possible uses.
