IP Australia 3 0 NOV 2009 EcEVED C AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT PHONE WATCH WITH RETRACTABLE SPEAKER WRIST BAND The following statement is a full description of this invention, Including the best method of performing it known to me: 1 PHONE WATCH WITH RETRACTABLE SPEAKER WRIST BAND In previous art, retractable cords attached to speakers wound around a spring loaded core. While efficient and cost effective, miniaturization of this design was limited by the amount of cord required and the single spring mechanism enclosed within the casing. The advent of phone watch technology has meant size is important for markets 5 to provide a slim functional phone watch that is both fashionable yet equally effective. The inventor of this phone watch band with retractable cord has made a previous design incorporating a single spring circular loading retractable cord that is detachable on the band, but the size and particularly the height of this device has a limited appeal considering fashion and operation. It is this size problem that the inventor has sought to 10 solve. The height of the new retractable cord has been reduced substantially by elongating the retractable cord mechanism within the wrist band so that it contours the users arm. The result is a functional, fashionable, retractable cord. The phone watch band with retractable cord has a spring, pulley system within the band that is elongated to permit the required length of cord to be stored and retracted when 15 answering the phone. When the speaker is pulled from the wrist band it is held by two digits of a hand and raised close to an ear for private conversation. At the conclusion of the phone call the cord is released by the two digits and the speaker returns automatically to the phone watch wrist band. The phone watch band with retractable cord can be better understood viewing the 2 accompanying drawings where Fig 1 shows the phone watch band with retractable cord and Fig 2 shows the internal spring and pulley system. Fig 3 shows the function and size of the device. In figure 1 A watch phone I is connected to a wrist band with retractable cord 3 that 5 has a speaker 2 tethered inside the elongated form of the wrist band with retractable cord 3. An adjustable strap 4 can fasten or loosen the wrist band 3 to the phone watch 1. A microphone 5 completes the watch'phone 1 device so that mobile phone calls can be received though watch phone 1, heard through speaker 2, and answered through microphone 5. 10 In figure 2 and 3 two variations of retractable cord wrist band 3 are illustrated using the same principal invention to store and retract cord 6 from retractable and wrist band 3. The speaker 2 when extracted from retractable cord wrist band 3 tethered within the retractable cord wrist band 3, via pulleys 7 moving in track 8 position 9 to position 10 allows the required length 12 of cord 6 to be removed from the retractable cord wrist 15 band 3 when the speaker 2 is pulled. A spring 16, or multiple springs 15 and 17 can be seen in figure 3 together with multiple pulleys 7 moving in opposite directions within the retractable cord wrist bands 3 elongated form giving more cord 6 of the required length 12 and 13. Even more cord 6 can be wound around a conventional spring cord device 11, so that the required length 12 of cord 6 is stored in a slim fashionable way 20 within the retractable cord wrist band 3. The adjustable strap 4 together with the retractable cord wrist band 3 can bend at any distance 18 to secure the retractable cord wrist band 3 to the users contoured arm. The speaker 2 will automatically retract back into the retractable cord wrist band 3 via the springs 15, 16 & 17 and the pulleys 7 sliding back along track 8 to their original 25 position 9.

3 In figure 4 the function and size of the phone watch 1 can be seen where the speaker 2 has been retracted from the retractable cord wrist band 3 with the cord 6 extracted over the back of a users hand 20 when taking incoming phone call from the phone watch 1. The hand 20 is placed near the user ear for a private conversation. At the conclusion of 5 the call the two digits 22 are separated which hold the speaker 2 and cord 6 so that the multiple springs 15, 16 & 17 can automatically return the cord 6 via the pulleys 7. The speaker 2 rests within a socket 21 on the retractable cord wrist band 3 when fully retracted. The retractable cord wrist land 3 is a separate and interchangeable device that connects its electrical components 19 to the phone watch 1.

Claims (3)

1. A phone watch wrist band with speaker tethered to retractable cord that is stored along its length.

2. A phone watch wrist band as in claim I where the retractable cord is stored along part of the length of the wrist band.

3. A phone watch band as in claim 2 and 3 where the stored cord has both a spring and pulley system to extract and automatically retract the cord.
