Description

1 FOOT CARE APPARATUS AND METHOD Technical Field: This invention relates to foot care apparatus and method. This invention relates particularly to foot care apparatus and a method for removal of a foot callus 5 and for illustrative purposes the invention will be described with reference to this application. However, this invention may find wider application in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical treatment of a foot generally. Technical Background: 10 Past known methods of foot care such as removal of foot callus include that shown in JP Patent Gazette No. 2000-34602 and http://www.genki.ne.jp/serapisu/. These include supporter-like articles that cover the heel or the sole, bath shoe-like footwear in which the foot may be inserted from the bottom of the ankle, and bag like special socks made of plastic film, with an opening at the top for foot insertion, 15 and into which liquid or gel-like treatment composition with medicinal and cosmetic efficacy on foot skin is injected or infused. The apparatus of JP Patent Gazette No. 2000-34602 has a defect in that the supporter-like article is required to be worn at all times, a disadvantage especially for ladies. When they wear high heels or sandals, the supporter tends 20 to be exposed. The apparatus of http://www.genki.ne.jp/serapisu/ is inconvenient in that, in addition to tools used for injection, the treatment composition has to be prepared and brought together at the time of use. Moreover, a user must be careful not to splash the composition at the time of injecting the treatment composition. So it 25 comes to be a rather complex exercise as a whole. Brief Description of the Invention In one aspect the present invention resides broadly in a foot care pack including a bag made from waterproof and flexible film and a treatment 30 composition sealed in said bag and selected from liquid or gel or paste compositions with cosmetic or medicinal efficacy, said bag having a sealed top that is selectively openable to provide for insertion of the foot of the user.
2 The sealed top may include an outer, single-use sealed edge openable by cutting and an inner resealable zip seal. The bag may include absorbent retention material holding and keeping treatment composition within the bag. 5 The retention material may be selected from sheets of paper, cloth, mesh, or non-woven cloth adhered to the interior of bag to cover the inserted foot. The periphery of the bag may be sealed by adhesive or heat seal such that the interior of the bag film and the sheet of retention material are superimposed to conform to the shape of the inserted foot and for the opening to be formed. 10 The seal at the top of the sheet of retention material may be adhered to the interior of the bag film about the periphery of the foot opening and adjacent the seal at the top of bag. The bag film may be selected from transparent film material. The treatment composition may be selected from any known composition 15 having cosmetic and/or therapeutic value in the treatment of feet and capable of being contained in a film bag. For example, there may be provided a composition comprising a liquid mixture of water, ethanol, lactic acid, isopropyl alcohol, BG, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, (PPG-12/SMDI) copolymer, salicylic acid, nasturtium officinale extract, arctium lappa root extract, Saponaria officinalis 20 extract, hedera helix (ivy) extract, salvia officinalis (sage) leaf extract, and citrus medica limonum (lemon) extract. Apparatus in accordance with the present invention has the following advantages: (1) Since the treatment composition in the bag of the pack body has 25 been pre-filled, it is not necessary to prepare tools such as special socks and the treatment composition separately or have to bring together the treatment composition used for injection all the time. There is also no worry of fluid splash in injection since the caring work is easy to be carried out by opening the seal at the top of the bag only. Moreover, the pack body is portable and easy to keep for its 30 thin sheet-like shape. (2) Because the retention material containing treatment composition is held within the bag, treatment composition will permeate when foot is inserted, which meanwhile will promote uniform adherence to the entire foot skin. Moreover, 3 by making it shape of sheet and fixing from inside of the bag, uniform adherence to the entire foot skin will be improved. In the meantime, little amount of treatment composition will be effective and it will also reinforce the total bag. (3) Since sheet of the pack body and that of the retention material are 5 superimposed on each other and sealed from the exterior, it is easy to make. And because the opening of the bag and that of the retention material are respectively sealed, foot is easy to insert after opening, fitness for the top of foot is improved, and the overall intensity of the pack is reinforced. Furthermore, since the pack body (bag-like section) is made of transparent 10 film, there is advantage of looking inside the pack to check the fluid and the inserted foot. Brief description of the Drawings: [FIG. 1] is a perspective view showing the state of use of this device; 15 [FIG. 2] is a side view showing the overall structure of the pack body in FIG. 1; and [FIG. 3] is a III-III cross-section of the device of FIG. 2. Description of codes: Description of the Embodiment 20 In FIG. 1 there is illustrated a perspective view showing the the device in use. FIG. 2 is a side view showing the overall structure of the product of FIG. 1 before use, and FIG. 3 is a Ill-Ill cross-section of FIG. 2. Pack body 1 is a foot-like bag that forms bag 1a from thin sheet material (film) of synthetic resins such as flexible and transparent plastics, which can cover 25 the foot as a wrap and hold the treatment composition as described later. Pack body 1 under implementation forms sheet material 2 that constitutes both sides of bag 1a in the foot-like bag of the same shape and creates retention material (inner cover) that can hold and keep the treatment composition G from inside. Pack body as illustrated has the typical wearing size for adults and has the 30 shape easy for use. The length from toe 4 to heel 6 is about 30cm. The maximum height of opening 11 is about 15cm set by the cutoff line (cutting section) 9 as marked between the upper section 8 connected with sole 7 and heel 6.
4 Moreover, to make the pack body productive and low-cost, the two sheet material 2 that are cut into the shape of socks (tabi) are superimposed on a flat and the periphery is adhered by heat seal or adhesive to form bag 1a. That is, sheet material 2 at both sides is cut into the shape of sock by way of setting seal 12 5 around the plastic film material successively. Furthermore, opening 11 for foot in and out of bag 1a is set by cutoff line 9. The above seal 12 is cut out so that bag 1a is opened and opening 11 is formed. The retention material 3 is set as the material that holds and keeps flexible treatment composition G made of cloth, mesh material, or non-woven cloth, being 10 drawn close to the lower section of the above opening 11 as sheet material 2 and foot bag in the same shape, and is adhered to the inside of sheet material 2 that has formed seal 16 at the set distance below the cutoff line. Therefore, the constructed pack body 1 as described above can be lot produced easily at low cost if made by the following methods. That is, cutoff line 9 15 is continuously printed on the exterior film that constitutes sheet material 2 in advance, against which the sheet material that constitutes the retention material 3 is superimposed from the cutoff line 9 at the top to the set position below and is adhered by heat seal or adhesive. With the form of seal 16, the two sheet materials are superimposed. 20 Then, with the above sheet material being forming into a pair at both sides of bag 1a, retention material 3 is superimposed in the opposed direction, and a puncher is used to punch through in sequence from one side. Simultaneously, cohere by means of heat pressing seal 12 that formed around or adhesive. In this way, flexible flat and thin bag 1 a can be easily and continuously formed to be 25 watertight and waterproof. Then, seal 12 supplies treatment composition G from opening 11 at unbounded non-joining state to bag 1a. After that, cohere the section of seal 12 that fits opening 11 to finish pack body 1 holding treatment composition G. The pack body 1 made in the above way can not only be easily folded, but also can be 30 easily held in a packing without bulging in this case. Because treatment composition containing water is held and kept in bag 1a, the liquid treatment composition G can prevent from leaning heavily on one side, and the entire surface of the foot can be easily and uniformly operated. Moreover, 5 direct contact of the surface of the foot and sheet material 2 is avoided and the frequent contact of retention material 3 that keeps treatment composition G to the skin is realized. Treatment composition G is a liquid mixture of water, ethanol, lactic acid, 5 isopropyl alcohol, BG, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, (PPG-12/SMDI) copolymer, salicylic acid, nasturtium officinale extract, arctium lappa root extract, Saponaria officinalis extract, hedera helix (ivy) extract, salvia officinalis (sage) leaf extract, and citrus medica limonum (lemon) extract. This care agent works on foot inserted into bag 1a and can quickly and effectively remove callus. 10 The following will explain the conditions of use and function of pack body 1 that is constituted as above. First, pack body 1 is taken out of the packaging. By cutting along cutoff line 9, the top seal 12 can be easily opened and removed. By this, the user can wide-open the unsealed opening 11 from side to side, then insert foot into bag 1a. At this time, because the flexible sheet material 2 and bag 1a that 15 is formed by preserving 3 conform to the shape of foot and retention material 3 is lubricating in preserving treatment composition, foot can be smoothly put in and out. Furthermore, a user can walk without taking off pack body 1 that wraps the foot like socks with treatment composition in the pack. 20 Because retention material 3 holding treatment composition G works as buffer to have foot contact with sheet 2, it will be comfortable to wear, sheet 2 is protected, and the durability of pack body 1 is also improved. In addition, retention material 3 will incessantly prevent leakage of treatment composition G while walking and treatment composition G will be evenly spread to the surface of foot. 25 After pack body 1 as can be used above being worn around 1 to 1.5 hours for once, pack body is taken off and treatment composition G should be washed off foot. Pack body 1 after use can be used several times if it is still under available state. Because it is easy to curl of fold after use, it can be put into the discard in the compact curled state. 30 After use of pack body 1 in this way, the user's callus will generally start to peel in 5-7 days, and the callus will be completely removed in about 2 weeks to revive smooth bare foot. Therefore, a user can simply wear for hours of the pack 6 body 1 that holds previously infused treatment composition G to effectively care for foot with the effect of treatment composition G being sufficiently taken. Yet for pack body 1 in the plan, although sheet 2 and retention material 3 are superimposed to be joined, with retention material 3 being opposed to each 5 other, superimposed and joined in a pair to make bag 1a, retention material 3 can not only be made by 2 pieces but also 1 piece. In addition, although bag 1a is composed by joining the pair of sheet 2 formed in the same shape, it can also be composed by socks with 1 film. Besides the liquid treatment composition G as shown in the embodiment, 10 gel treatment composition G under room temperature that contains ingredients having cosmetic and medicinal efficacy on skin can be made. In addition, treatment composition G can not only be used for skin renewal or cosmetic purpose, it can be turned into treatment of skin and foot injuries with its effective ingredients. Pack body 1 can be widely used as foot treatment device.
