Description

C,! AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT HALF INTERNAL THREAD The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me.
1 HALF INTERNAL THREAD The invention is related to Plastic Manufacturing Industry. The reason for this invention is to overcome problems of wooden handles varying in size, i.e. pole diameter and not fitting aperture provided in products such as brooms or rakes etc., therefore these products require an internal thread. 5 The conventional method in industry of creating an internal thread in products is to rotate a core with the thread on it, out of the plastic product that has been produced in the mould. This is a complex and costly method. 10 The optimum method in plastic mould design is known as open and shut operation which allows the product to simply drop out when mould opens and not having to wait for unscrewing mechanisms to work. This invention offers half internal thread with open and shut design. 15 The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention whereby Fig. 1 is an end elevation of the product. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the product. 20 Fig. 3 is end sectional view of the mould parts. Fig. 4 is section through sliding core of the mould parts. In Fig. 1 depicts 6 as angular plastic wall thickness and 5 the spiral internal threads shown shaded. 25 In Fig. 2 depicts aperture 7 within the wall thickness 6 (Fig. 1), 8 depicts spiral threads adjoined to 7. In Fig. 3 mould diagram 9 is two mould inserts. 10 cross section through sliding core 30 shown shaded, also shows the sliding core to shutting off (fitting tightly) with insert 9. In Fig. 4 mould diagram 11 cross section sliding core, 12 is section through mould inserts with spiral thread shapes on them. Inserts 12 must shut off (fit tightly) with core 11. 35 Summarising : The mould opens apart, the core retracts out of the product and product is left with 12 half internal threads.

Claims (4)

1. The disclosed half internal thread consists of fifty percent effective internal thread and may be varied to a greater or lessor degree, angular wise.
2. A half internal thread claimed in claim 1 wherein can be used in moulds which have internal thread required to be 900 from split line (main parting faces).
3. A half internal thread in accordance with claim 1 and 2 wherein the product is made of plastic and the 3 parts required in the mould of appropriate steel. The enable the production of any numerous thread types and sizes.
4 A half internal thread can substantially as herein before described with reference to Figures 1 - 4 of the accompanying drawings. DOUGLAS ARTHUR COOPER 21 OCTOBER 2009
