Description
1 Description Fishing has been long associated with unwanted smells and residual blood, scales etc on hands and other surfaces. These smells and residue are caused both by the handling of fish and also by the handling of baits or scented lures. I have invented a fishing wipe which in the first instance removes or masks fish related smells from hands or surfaces. It also assists in the removal of blood, scales and other residual material. Another problem is the presence of unwanted smells on hands that may come from fuel, sunscreen, insect repellent etc. These smells on hands are viewed as a deterrent to fish when a person then handles bait or lures and passes the unwanted scent thereby potentially repelling or at least discouraging fish from biting. I have developed a process whereby a wipe or tissue is infused with several substances which acheive the following: 1. They remove or mask fishing smells on hands after fishing. 2. They remove or mask unwanted smells from hands (eg sunscreen) before a fisherman or woman handles their fishing implements. 3. The inclusion of a natural fish-attractant also has the benefit of potentially assisting to attract fish to baits or lures that are handled by the fisherman or woman, as the scent of the wipe is transferred from hands to lures or bait, hooks etc. 4. The inclusion of tea tree oil also may benefit by imbuing anti-bacterial properties into the wipe. 5. By avoiding the inclusion of soap that may potentially deter fish, the use of the fishing hand wipe is significantly different to the use of general purpose hand wipes that are commercially available. Soap and other chemicals that are the basis of conventional hand wipes, are known to deter fish, so the Fishing hand wipe is a significant improvement. My invention contains no soaps and a bare minimum quantity of preservatives or chemicals. Conventional hand wipes are also often quite innefective in removing or masking pungeant fishing odours left on hands and surfaces. Again our invention improves the outcome significantly.
2 6. By including an oil in the product (aniseed oil) the wipes assist in the removal of residual materials such as blood, scales, fish flesh etc from hands and surfaces. The process of making a fishing hand wipe involves infusion of several liquids into the wipe or tissue. More specifically the invention uses aniseed (also known as anise or Pimpinella Anisum) in the form of an aniseed oil. Star Anise which is a related species can also be used in place of Pimpinella Anisum if required. Aniseed is a substance that has been previously incorporated into cakes of soap in order to remove fishing smells. However my invention improves the process by providing a useful, practical and convenient form for the aniseed and several other key ingredients. The use of a wipe rather than a cake of soap means that the product can be packaged for long term use and the wipe itself assists with the removal of smells and grime through the abbrasive rubbing of the fabric on hands or surfaces.
Claims (5)
1. A hand wipe where Pimpinella Anisum also known as anise or aniseed is infused into a tissue or wipe. Star Anise may be used in place of Pimpinella Anisum if required.
2. As per the claim in item 1 above, the tissue serves to remove smells and residual materials from hands and other surfaces.
3. As per the claim 1 above, the wipe also serves to assist in the attraction of fish as aniseed is an established fish attracting substance.
4. As in claim 1 above, the product also includes other key ingredients but notably excludes any soap related ingredients.
5. The product is specifically designed as a fishing hand wipe.
