Description

00 O Object Securing Lanyard
O
FIELD OF THE INVENTION 7t This invention relates to lanyards and similar items used by parents/carers to 7 prevent the loss, damage or soiling of children's/disabled people's accessories 7 (cup, bottle, toy, teething appliances).
V)
O
O
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
O
0 S O Most babies from the age of 6 months (when they begin to sit upright in a highchair, car seat, pram, walker, activity station and the like) begin to use cups, bottles, toys, teethers and accessories. While learning to use these items babies often drop or throw these items causing loss, damage or soiling.
Disabled people using a wheelchair also experience distress as dropping and not being able to retrieve personal items.
Parents and carers spend considerable time collecting dropped items, cleaning up mess or sterilizing soiled items.
While many parents/ carers have resorted to 'home made' ropes or ribbons to attach such items to prams, car seats and high-chairs, many are concerned with the risk of strangulation of the baby.
Standard ropes are not adjustable and there-for do not allow the attachment to be used in a multi-purpose environment.
While dummy or pacifier saver attachments have existed (refer to US2007067964 2007-03-29 Macquarie Marquel, US2006168766 2006-08-03 Lipincott Pamela, US2006168765 2006-08-03 Beatty Annette) for some time, a multi-purpose, adjustable saver with a safety release saver does not exist.

O
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION 7It is therefore an object of the present invention to ameliorate some of the disadvantages and limitations of traditional prior art nursery leashes. (Refer to US2005115996 2005-06-02 Deike Christy M, US2006255214 2006-11-16 Simone Rachelle K. US2006289713 2006-12-28 Kaplan Alvin, US2005176341 C 2005-08-11 Watt Dino The advantages of this design are it is a simple single 0length lanyard. In particular the components of this design that are unique are: O0 O 10 safety release, toggle loop and slide adjuster.
STATEMENT OF THE INVENTION According to one but not necessarily the only aspect, the invention resides in a lanyard in which one end attaches to the anchor item (for example but not restricted to pram, high-chair, car seat, baby activity seat) utilizing a Velcro (or similar attachment mechanism like press stud) loop.
The single length of lanyard comprises an adjustable section that allows the length of the lanyard to be adjusted to suit any model of anchor item (for example but not restricted to pram, high-chair, car seat, baby activity seat).
The single length of lanyard also includes a safety release that is designed to 'break' the lanyard into two sections should the weight of a crawling toddler (or animal, adult) be entwined in the lanyard.
Attached to the single length of lanyard is a loop of cord with a non-removable toggle. The toggle allows the loop to be adjusted to fit any sized babies/childrens/person's cup, bottle, toy or accessory.

00 O 10 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION O Figure 1.
There is shown a preferred embodiment of the invention in the form a lanyard(I) having an attachment member which comprises of two Velcro stripes(3a,3b) and a fastening loop(4) as part of the lanyard strap(5). Length adjustment is made with a sliding buckle A safety release linkage comprises of two members (8a,8b). The inner member (8b) releases from the outer member (8a) when a force (15) is exerted on the lanyard The safety release linkage is to prevent entwinement, the attached unit from toppling and possible strangling of baby. A toggle loop (9) comprises of a cord release button (11) and cord This toggle loop can be adjusted to fit different shaped objects (toy, drink cup and the like). The toggle loop is attached to the lanyard strap with a loop which in turn is connected to the safety release linkage member (8b).
Figure 2.
There is shown a baby (12) in a high chair (13) with the invention preventing the loss of the drinking cup (14).
Figure 3.
There is shown the release of the safety link with the two members (8a.8b) breaking the lanyard when a force (15) is applied.
00 4 O VARIATIONS
O
It will be realized that while the foregoing has been given by way of illustrative example of this invention all such and other modifications and variations thereto as would be apparent to persons skilled in the art are deemed to fall within the broad scope and ambit of this invention as herein set forth.
7t O Throughout the description and claims of this specification the word comprise O and variations of that word such as "comprises" and "comprising" are not O0 O 10 intended to exclude other additives components, integers or steps.
